Hi my fellow my lotters and friends, I've had this really really intruiguing question pestering me for quite sometime now! How actually are the top discussions for a day selected??? On what basis is the top discussion actually rated??? Is it based on the number of responses? or the number of rating or what??? what is the criteria for this selection??? Because i've seen discussions with even 1 response sometimes in the top and most popular discussions and discussions with even a 100 responses not even in the list!! So any idea about how to get your discussion to be the most popular and highly rated one and stay that way??? I know a lot of you have done this daily and are consistently doing it.Do share your little secret and views with us all !!!! Cheers and happy my lotting!

Hi Gamesurfer I guess the reason is that ppl do visit the topic and rate it which does not mean they said something. I do this sometimes if I find a topic and answers/responses to that is useful but I dont have something to add there. It could be very intersting otherwise it will not be high rated I hope this help, thx

Yup, I agree too. The most positively rated or some sort will remain in top spot..

It sure does Sherry, No it makes it clear why discussions with very less responses are in the most popular ones sometimes!!! Appreciate your response pal, it definitely helped!

Hi. Before I was also confuse on what are the criteria for your discussion to be on the top rated and popular discussion. I tried to observed the discussions that was place in the said position. And upon observation, I think number of responses in the discussion does not matter. I think what serve as their basis is the quality of your discussion. On how does it helps other people. That is actually just base on my observation but I am not really sure if it is really the basis.

I think quality discussion is being judge if the discussion contains helpful information to other members.

I have no idea. I just post whatever comes into my crazy mind and I reply back to people who respond to try and keep a discussion going. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

I am curious to know how they rate the today's top too, I think I would assume once when the discussions are posted, when people responds, it goes on the list? I guess... I don't know how to keep my discussions always the top and popular, I jsut try to write some topics when I think of something to discuss about. Wish you good luck!

I don't worry about it. If it happens, it happens, if it doesn't, it doesn't. No skin off my back (or whatever that cliche is..lol). I do try to make my discussions answer-able by anyone, though, and I try not to make them too specific about topics that I know aren't very popular on myLot. But to me, it's not totally important.

I think it has alot to do with how many friends you have or other members responding to it. It also helps if you respond back to them also on that discussion. It stays active when the pages for it grow also.

I have been here for a while and I am not at all thinking about this question. I have no need to be top rated anymore. I do not know how to do it and I am sure there are many others who deserve to be top rated.

Hi What I understand from mylot is it the highest rated discussion means the discussion rated positively by lot of members. May be there is replies are less but many are reading the same the rating it positively even if they do not reply it. So the discussion definitely comes into the top irrespective of its number of responses. Top rated discussion carries the rating status only.

I think top discussions are selected on the basis of the quality of particular discussion. I observed silly discussions also get good number of responses. On the other hand serious discussions get very few responses. So I think top discussions are selected on the basis of quality.

I gave up trying to figure it out a long time ago! I cannot ever predict how popular a discussion is going to be. I have started some that I thought were nothing special and they ended up very popular and in the ‘top discussion’ area and the ones I have been really exited about have had few responses. I have a couple that have zero responses. Go figure. I agree with learn2earn just go with the flow, have fun and don’t worry too much about results.

Well to be popular you first need good quality responses. mylot has a protocol for how they determine things here in a automated system based on user input. So I wouldn't worry too much about it because if you try to figure it out, u'll might be phishing for it. And that might just simply getting you in trouble. Also all those + and - also helps with also you responding back to them as well. So if you make a discussion please make sure you respond to people that contribute to your discussion as well. It isn't really based on "most" responses because if so, the top will never change and would be called "most posted responses". It is a complicated system that shouldn't even bother figuring out. Just do your thing and if your topic is "hot" then you've done your job. I believe it is a hit and miss most of the time. Godbless

actually i dont know how does mylot do that too. but it never forced me or to push myself to have a top rated or popular discussion. i just log on here and have fun. give my views and respond and just do my thing. if i started a discussion that has a lot of responces then maybe it made to the top that i am not aware of. its not my style to check i just do what i want to do around here. and that is to response and to win friends and earn as well.

Hi gamesurfer. The most frustrating part of being a myLotter, in my opinion, is to have his discussion posted unnoticed, if he'll get zero response. But to keep one's topic on top of the others, being one of the hottest of the day, is very much a relief. I have no idea how one's discussion can be classified as one but you can do something to keep it alive. A good topic for me is well responded and commented. It's actually you, the original poster can keep it up, just comment to every responses and if possible, give your comment thesame time you read the response. It's one thing I learned from one veteran myLotter from UK...

Hey gamesurfer! That is a question that I have no idea what the answer is! And I sure would like to find out if anyone here really knows! I have made the digest and made the "hot discussions", but have no idea how or why! If there is a secret way I sure haven't the slightest idea! There are people who make the digest and the "hot" discussions all the time and I'm not even sure if they know the answer!

Hi Opal, Yeah , i guess a lot of those who are here have no idea about how to make it!! It definitely is a great mystery on mylot!! Anyway Congrats on making the Digest pal. Cheers and happy my lotting!
