What kind of meals do you usually cook for yourself?

I had a good lunch today.. I cooked some veggies, amplaya or bitter melon in particular and sautéed it with sweetened spam instead of beef. I also fried a fish, galunggong or mackerel scad. I am alone so I fried one whole fish and maybe fry one again for dinner later cause’ there are still veggies left for another meal. I always like to have veggies and fish as partners for a meal. I like fish better than meat and fish is much easier to cook and healthier to eat. It’s ok for me if I always have fish and veggies for meals and I don’t seem to have enough of them. But several years back I always have meat for meals. My aunt handles the food preparations and I don’t complain if she always serves me meat for meals. My aunt doesn’t eat veggies and her favorites are meat fats so I guess she only serves what she eats and don’t care about what others likes to have on the table. She’s an old lady and it pisses her off if you complain about the foods she prepares. But now that I prepare my own meals, I can always have veggies and fish all the time! Oh, and I had a glass of cola for additional satisfaction. What about you guys? Do you have any particular food you like to eat with something? Do you prefer to have water, cola or juice to go with your meal?

I like Japanese and Chinese cuisines. I remember I use to watch Wok With Yan cooking show hehe. Anyways, their recipes are very tasty and the sauces are spectacular. My family loves eating at Japanese restaurants but sometimes I get confused on which sauce should I use for a particular meal cause there are a lot of sauces on the table. I just dip on every kind of sauce there is hehe. Keep posting!

thanks for your reply, i remember i have heard some about Yan's cooking, native chinese and japanese food are a little different from same kind in usa, same food in usa has more high energy, but japanese food are the least energy and better healthy, this is why so many japanese old people with long life, chinese food has heavy oil and smoke, but much delicious than japanese one, surely they both has a lot of sauce, we like diping and eating it by chopsticks, it is the habit of Asia eating.

Hello, I had my usual breakfast this morning, milk, coffee and cereal. For lunch I made myself 1/2 a andwhich and had some chips with it. For dinner we went out since it was too warm to have to cook and make the apartment warm. I had a steak but only had half of it.Probably havbe to go out tomorrow again since it is supposed to be hot again.Otherwise I would want spaghetti. I always have iced tea with lunch and dinner.Iced tea is my favorite, I like it unsweetened with a splash of lemon juice or a lemon slice.

Hi! You don't seem to cook when it's hot so, when it's summer you often eat at restaurants? Why don't you use exhaust fans? It helps to take away heat inside a room.

Hello, well since I am not the only one living at this apartment I still have to consider their comfort too. If it was only me living here I would cook every day. I do the laundry and that makes the apartment warm too. I live in a place where it is practically unheard of to use central air or an air conditioner or even a swamp cooler.I do the laundry early in the morning or later in the evening when it finally cools.Right now we are going through a warm phase but it is supposed to cool down wednesday. Where I grew up at it gets to the high 90's up to 100 degrees plus during the summer so I am no stranger to hot summers.I don't know why these apartment complexes don't have central air because in my home where I grew up we had central air in the house.

hi iskayz , my dear freind, i am an Indian and i am vegetarian . so i cook al types of veggies, mixed veggies, lentil soup, pulses, rice, beaten curd and chappatis. i love rice more than chappatis. its a form of bread, it is indian bread. i dont know how to make an omlette also. i can just boil eggs. nothing more than that. my hubby is a non vegetarian but he laso dont cook much. yes, when he is in a mood, then yes, he cooks awesome. i love his made food. i dont take any cola or juice or anything between my meal. in the end i take a sip of water and thats it. then after half an hour i take a glass of water.

omeletes - tasty omeletes
Hi aweins! It's very easy to make omeletes. Just beat the eggs, put a little salt for taste and then cook it on a non-sticky pan. You can put whatever fillings you like. I like my omeletes to have some cabbage and potatoes. Bread is nice too! Whenever I like to diet and lessen my intake of rice I just eat wheat bread for dinner. Water is great after meals. It really quenches our thirst. But occasionally I like to have juices and colas. Happy posting!

If you consider an omelette a meal, it's the most usual thing i always cook. I heat the skillet, drop 2 eggs, some salt and pepper and then mix it up using a whisk. and voila "An omelette a la lismuth"

iskayz.. I love veggies too, and I will also like fish to be part of my dishes. Whenever I cook, veggie will the the first item on the menu, hook or crook, I make up something with the veg, then I will be having fish and a meat. Or else will be 2 veg and 1 meat dish. In my home practises, we have soup for everyday, therefore, soup will be the one we accompany our meal, but not forgetting a cup of water after that. Cola & Juice be the desserts sometimes if I do not have any sweet stuff to go along the meal. Happy MyLotting :)

I also like ampalaya together with fish like galunggong. It is more healthier to eat fish than meat because now a days many people have heart problem and high blood pressure. My mother prefer to cook fish than meat but one of my sister don't want to eat fish sometimes I told that she should eat fish and vegetables it is not healthy anymore if you eat always meat.

Mango shakes are delicious! I like the green ones. But I only get to gave it when I eat at restaurants. They're pretty expensive too hehe. Happy posting!

Oh so you're still a student. Well most students can't cook most of the time because they're busy with school work and that's understandable. I myself when I was still a student I don't have time to cook. I usually eat noodles cause that's the easiest menu to prepare hehe. But learn how to cook. It's gonna be useful for you someday! well I can fry eggs and hot dogs. Other than that I can cook noodles and ramen. haha~ I can't cook real food, I can just cook those foods that's easy to prepare. I wanted to cook gourmet food but for sure it is totally hard for me. Even cooking rice is hard so I don't think I can handle gourmet foods. I wanted to try and practice but I really don't have time. And surely Mom will get mad if I burn them. It is totally not good. Maybe I'll just cook simple foods now. Aww you love bitter gourd? Why your awesome... It is sooo bitter can't take it. I wonder how people keeps telling me that it is not bitter?

Well it's not really that bitter. It's delicious actually and if you would eat it often you'll get used to the taste of bitterness. I have a technique on how to cook bitter gourd to remove their bitterness. After slicing the bitter gourd soak them in water with salt and tenderly squeeze the slices. While cooking, don't stir the bitter gourd but just let it simmer. Try it sometimes! Ciao!

eggs - scrambled eggs
Hi! I haven't come across your discussion when I posted this topic. I searched for similar discussions but didn't find any. I like scrambled eggs too but not with tomatoes. I just put chopped onions and garlic on my scrambled eggs. Scrambled eggs for me are also not just for breakfast but I enjoy eating it for lunches and dinners. Sometimes I put potatoes and cabbages and they are great for meals. Happy posting!

Yeah instant noodles are very easy to make but having them often is bad for our health. It has a lot of salt and preservatives in it. I only have noodles just for quick relief from hunger and I drink a lot water after to wash away the salt. Keep posting!
