Well, most times on the weekend I can spend one day just veggie in front of the computer, and maybe do a lot of mylotting. Not this weekend. Tomorrow we have to go out to the roomie's folks so she can see the niece that lives out of state, who's here for a visit. But today we arranged to work on the "cat room." Used to be, we had the cat boxes in the cat room, but last summer, when the roomie was coming home to work, we needed a safe place to put stuff that the cats couldn't ruin, and so we took the boxes out of the cat room and the stuff in the cat room. Now, this was a YEAR ago, mind you... So, those boxes have been moved around, and more stuff has been put in there, and so on, and so on. Meanwhile, the freezer, that is also in there, has started a most annoying round of beeping. Well, the service guy that came for the fridge, said that the fridge needed to be cleaned of cat fur, so we figured the freezer needed it too. So, a very dear friend, "J", came over and helped us. Understand, that the roomie and I are not in good shape and while she's a strapping gal, I'm only 5 feet tall. "J" is a guy, and in much better shape than either of us. He pulled all the boxes out of the room, and moved around the freezer and cleaned it. Meanwhile, I was repacking the boxes. All books, all video tapes, all craft stuff, etc. It only took about an hour and a half to get the room to the point where we could run off to Walmart to pick up a few things we needed. Now, some of these objects could've waited until another day, but one item was really needed, and that was an extension cord so we could plug the freezer into a different plug - outside the cat room. Now, understand, I have 2 big refrigerators, I know, weird, and 2 small fridges for mostly soft drinks and the roomie's meds. And a big standing freezer. We moved the freezer out of the cat room and put it next to (back to side) of the bigger of the 2 fridges. We ran the plug behind the fridge to the freezer. Now we can pull them both out and clean behind them at the same time. Then "J" helped put the now repacked boxes back into the "cat room." We took a few things to Goodwill, we threw a BUNCH of stuff away or recycled them. So, there is NO way we could've done this ourselves in one day, probably couldn't have done it even in 2 days, considering how much we hurt NOW. Yes, we would've probably taken longer than 2 days, but we'd've still needed to get the boxes out and then what would keep them safe from these bad cats? So, "J" is our hero of the day! Probably of the SUMMER! Now, if we can free up a whole weekend, a few more friends and do my front room!

Hey Elic... I'm hoping to be back in action here now. I'm hurting now just reading all you and your roomie along with J did. My joints suddenly stiffened up. lol It's boring working by yourself but when you get a friend or 2 to help, job goes by fast and gets done sooner. If your front room is as big as mine, sounds like you'll need 3 strong friends. good luck!

Yeah, its big enough... We went out to the roomie's folks today and I fell asleep in the recliner! Even with 9ish hours of sleep, I wasn't ready to get up, and I'm still hurting.

I would love a friend like ā€˜J’! He sounds awesome, he did so much for you, what a great help. I would do that for a friend and have done so in the past. I helped people move etc although I have moved many times myself and not once did I have a friend help me; for some reason they all happened to be unavailable! I will remember the next time one of them needs help but knowing me I will probably get sucked in again...

It is awesome to have friends who are willing to go that extra mile and help you out with tasks that would be too overwhelming for you to do yourself. I have helped friends with stuff like this many times. Deepl cleaning a house in a manner of a day when it would take two or three for one person to do it yourself, helping rfriends pack up and move etc. The job always seems to go easier and you are less like to get distracted (whether purposly or inadvertantly) if you have someone there to assist you with it. I do this willingly whenever i have the time and can help with such projects, in the hope that maybe someday, down the road, when i have a task that just seems to big to accomplish on my own, i can call on some friends and recieve some help in return.

You sounds like another awesome friend, liz, I know when I was younger I used to do it, but now, with all my health problems, I just can't do what I used to do when I was 30ish.

Hey, does J make house calls? I need to do a lot of that stuff. I just need to be motivated, although my physical condition seems to be on a decline for about the last two weeks. I need to exercise my core. It would probably be a fitness experience to clean that much. I wish I could come home to work.

well, if you were in the area, he might... but he still has to have his "real" job too, so he can't be out of the area a whole lot.

So, did the beeping stop? My fridge has an enclosed back, so I don't have to worry about dust clogging the coils. Lucky me.

Since the beeping stopped after the thorough cleaning, must of been a warning that you didn't know about, Elic. Now you'll know what the beeping is about next time.

Where would we be without our friends? So, with everything moved out and replaced with different stuff why do you still call it the cat room?

well, we hope to one day be able to use it for the cat boxes again - until then, we will store the stuff we want to keep away from the cats in there and have the boxes out of it - and we didn't replace it with new stuff, we just repacked what was in there - and actually took a few things OUT all together!
