Do you mind having blood tests?

Having a family of healthcare professionals, it's a day-to-day scene at our dinner tables when my family would talk about their experiences and funny moments with patients having their fear of needles, injections and blood. Tonight, my brother shared that it took him 30 whole minutes to take blood from a patient today since the mere act of setting the arm on the platform would cause the patient to cry (a high school student). Similarly, my parents also told us that they had a very late lunch since a patient couldn't stop asking my dad how the operation of hernia would go, how big the needle was and all the questions regarding the operation since he was really afraid of injections. Still another brother said that once he had an incident where he was trying insert an IV to a doctor-patient, they were just talking normally when suddenly they didn't realize that the nurse who was assisting him fainted. hahahaha.. So, are you afraid of blood? Needles? Do you mind having blood tests and etc.? If so, what do you think traumatized you into having a fear in them?

I'm not scared of needles at all! I donate blood regularly so I'm used to needles piecing my skin. My mom on the other hand, is so scared of those things. I feel sorry for the person taking her blood sometimes because she overreacts.

I am not afraid of blood tests. I have tried it a lot of times, so I don't really think much about it anymore. I think I was about 10, when I needed a blood test for the first time, and at that time I was really scared about it. I even had nightmares about it a couple of weeks before it happened. I am not afraid of needles any longer, but I was kind of worried about the whole thing about blood and injections when I started going to nursing school. I didn't know how I would react if I saw blood or injuries, but it turned out that I had nothing to worry about, and I didn't have any problems with blood etc.
