Do women's legs always look better in hose?

I have often heard it said that women's legs look better in hose, but I don't believe this is true all the time. In recent years I have only worn hose when the occasion truly calls for it, but when I was much younger I considered myself to be under-dressed if I didn't wear them. In my case, because my legs have always been small the hose definitely added something to the appearance of my legs. During hot weather, however, it is often uncomfortable to wear hose. I think that bare legs look just fine most of the time unless they are scarred. What is your opinion on this?

No. It is just like anything else. If you are blessed with good genetics you have em. If you don't you wear hose. And, if you take care of your legs and you have genetics on your side then ya got it made. In the old days when the 'stockings' had that line going down the back-- now those were the ones! Very seductive. I think hose is like leggings.

I actually remember the seamed hose, celticeagle, and way back when I once tried to wear them. Let me tell you that was a disaster!I had to keep straightening the seams until I finally had to resort to taking them off completely.

Ah now. The seam only has to be straight for the initial entrance. After that it doesn't matter. Haha

This is a guess because I'm a straight woman but I think it is the legs themselves that count. Many women don't wear hose at all.The only time I would wear hose was when I played in the orchestra. The funny thing is they didn't show.I wore a long , black skirt.

I'm just curious, sarah, because having lived through so many fads and fashions, it seems to me that women are wearing hose much less than in the past. I guess it's the relaxation of dress codes, but for whatever reason I'm all for it.

I think it is because of Gen X and Y living out my mantra,"I don't want to get in my Sunday best and sit behind a desk."Sure a desk job is okay but this dressing up thing is crazy. So wearing hose has stopped, mostly.

Well, it is True that wearing them during the summer months can be quite uncomfortable and makes it hard to do, but for me when a woman is dressed up in a suit or a dress, I feel that they look better with nylons on than off. I actually have to wear support hose though myself now due to problems in the past stemming back from being diabetic.

I've always had scars and freckles on my legs and from an early age noticeable veins. My legs are long and they were one of my best features when I was younger ...they always looked heaps better in hose...unless I was casually dressed of course. I loved those occasions when I could wear black stockings...they were very alluring and with strappy sandals with high heels...WOW! . These days I wear trousers all the time. Some women should never go bare legged. But I also think people should be comfortable. I believe in dressing appropriately for the occasion and unless you have lovely skin and a nice tan (as opposed to lily white legs) then stockings/pantyhose should be worn. Many women don't seem to woory about appearances though.

I've also gotten a few nicks and dings on my legs over the years, Ms Tickle! My legs have never been my best feature because they are too short and too small, I find that black or dark shades of hose always make my legs look better than they actually are.

Bare legs are much more comfortable, but on formal occasions, better wear hose to match your dress. Maybe the dark colors of the hose could help make your legs look better. My preference is grey. The patterned hoses add glamor for certain people, but I feel they are too appealing, not fit for me.

I abhor patterned hose, zhuifen!I suppose that many people like them, but they have never been for me. I do like the darker shades of hose.

I think in some cases it does make them look better because it gives an illusion and also gives a little bit of secretiveness to it as well. in other words then men have to undress the hoses as well.

As trends change so does my opinion about hose. I always had problems wearing knee highs or pantyhose. My legs are so skinny that the hose wouldn't stay up. Birdlegs was and still is my nickname and it truely fits..lol I think recently shaved, shiny legs are attractive but I don't often notice women's legs. Am also hoping women don't notice mine. They are a joke!
