What is up with my knee?

This is the strangest thing. And both my husband and I are coming up with different diagnosis - oh, the doctors we think we are!! So, today, I get up, do my walk, but only feel like doing 2 laps not three - because I'm lazy. So I'm at around 2 miles this morning, at a very brisk pace. I had to take my dog to the vet before work (oh, not a pretty sight), and when I get home my knee starts to hurt. Well, since I've gained some weight my knees bother me sometimes. When I get to work, I go to hit the emergency brake and my knee literally yells at me - "Lady, what the HELL do you think you're doing????" Oh my gosh! On a scale of 1-10, the pain was a 20! I barely make it up 3 flights of stairs (no elevator, it's a pre-ADA building) and practically crawl into my office. Now I'm no light-weight when it comes to pain, but this was pretty bad. It was worse than an ache all day long, I almost left work early but I was so wondering how I was going to get back downstairs. I get home, take it easy a bit, can't get comfortable, every time I move it HURTS!!! Well, my husband just had his 5th knee surgery and has decided he's an expert on knees. So according to him it's torn cartaledge... I think it's lyme disease, even though I tested negative for it a month ago. It's feeling much better now, so if it's still bothering me tomorrow I'm calling the doctor. What do YOU think it is?

Some times we bump our knees and don't remember it, so it hurts. We put too much pressure on them, carrying the dog, and other things. That hurts You run and may have pulled or strained something, a muscle or pulled a ligament or torn some cartiledge. It could be a number of things. Many times results of a test are wrong or they get them mixed up in a lab. If you truly think it's lymes then ask for another test. I hope it gets to feeling better soon and that you find out what is happening to cause this pain.

I hope it is too but you still need to find out why it is causing you trouble. I hope you can.

Well I am not a doctor, but I too have knee pain once in a while. It is mostly from walking on concrete or asfault, (sp?) When I do areobic exercises, I have to do it on the grass or a wooden floor that would give when I step/jump.

I don't know what it was, but it went away pretty quickly. I just hope it doesn't come back!

I hope it doesn't either, sore knees are as much trouble as sore feet, makes it hard to get around..

My doctor's standard diagnosis is Arthritis. If it is Lyme disease, then there is a treatment to begin. If it is torn cartilage there is a surgery. If it is arthritis, there are meds to take (that I refuse) and some more natural remedies. For all of the above there is weight loss, much easier said than done. Let us know what you find out.

Normally, my knees only act up when I've gained weight, which I've done by leaps and bounds these last couple years. But this was way different. It's gone now though, and I even walked my 3 laps this morning. I'm going to keep an eye on it for a while, hopefully it was just mad at me for the day!

Ouch! That just brought back memories. I have bad knees and so I know how bad they can hurt. My knees often get sore when I walk a lot. My problem is that my kneecaps are shaped weird and so they can dislocate easily. I'm not sure what is up with your knee. Did you end up seeing a doctor?

Nah, it went away after a couple days. It did come back one day on vacation, but hasn't bothered me much since. I think it's gone...

Lyme disease would effect all of your joints and you would be extremely fatigued and/or exhausted. It would masquerade as rheumatoid arthritis ( not to be confused with arthritis in one joint only) or even lupus.

When they tested me for lyme a month or so ago (after a tick bite) they gave me a slew of things to watch out for. Lyme seems to mainly attack the knees, although I am totally exhausted too I don't have the fever or headaches. Either way, I'm calling the doctor today, it's not much better.
