Silly Questions vs Serious Inquiry

Which would you rather see on My Lot? When I get an email from myLot showing the most popular questions of the day, usually I toss it in the trash. Still, I am amazed when questions such as 'do you drink more than one cup of coffee a day?' or 'do you put your lipstick or blusher on first?'which are mundane and a complete waste of time get between 30-50 people answering. Then along comes a serious inquiry asking help from people familiar with helping a person who has lost all use of one side of his body from a stroke and if one person answers, it comes as a total surprise. The site seems to have no serious side, but like so many others, is a prattle area for silliness. How do you see it? Should we all just waste our time with the foolish or dig into the serious more deeply? Frankly, I'm tired of the silly and yearn for a site with more depth.

Hi mysticmaggie, Most of the people came here to earn some money and have some fun. In order to achieve it, they come up with a silly question and get a lot of responses. The others who can make up with question prefer to answer it. Most of the silly question are about our daily routine and everybody can give a response on it. They can make money and at the same time have some fun. But there is also some serious issues being discussed here. And most of that issues need English perfection in order to discuss it. People who always used broken English like me always try not to involve because of that. There is also issues that we can get involve because we didn't have any knowledge of it like illness, scientific theory or anything that need specific knowledge to get involve. Most people who are looking for serious discussion will go to the politics or religious discussion. Issues arise there usually need you to make a deep thought before you get involve and need a perfect English so others know exactly what are you saying. I think mylot would be perfect like the way it is now. There is a lot of silly and fun question and some serious issues. It is up to you to choose your path. If you want enjoy your time here then give a response to silly question. Otherwise, give your thought to some serious discussion. It is a matter of choice. Pick up issues do you want to get involve and enjoy your time here. Happy mylotting and have a nice day.

I think you are all right. Coming here for help on a serious issue is a waste of time, so I will be leaving MyLot. Somewhere there has to be people willing to turn away from the foolishness of what nail polish to use or will they ever get rich earning pennies a day on a site obviousl not meant for that purpose. So farewell and enjoy the mundane.

lol your right.. most of us came here to earn money.. so they will ask any question even the silly or non sense question just for them to post since those are still counted for earning money... besides those things like make up are very common to women so many can participate since they can relate the topic. unlike thos serious question... only few can relate with the question..

You are right, up to a certain point. There are many people that want to post ANYTHING so they get one more post (probably one more cent). But there are other posts that have good topics and get good answers. If you are looking for money, of course you won´t get much with a topic where you have to think before answering. So those people will not answer a serious post. Still, there are a lot of nice and interestiong mylotters. But seriousness has never been as popular as silliness. Relax and find your true friends here.

I tend to think true friends jump in to help in a serious situation instead of prattle about foolishness. In this case, I am terrified of having my husband come home. He can not speak, walk, move his right side at all. I am his soul mode of help when he arrives from rehab. At three hundred pounds, turning him to clean him is a nightmare scenario. I need volunteers to help because our new neighborhood has proven unfriendly, even to the point of complaining when we had to move a vehicle onto the grass to get an emergency vehicle in. I need to know what to have ready for him, where to go for a support system, how to keep from destroying my own health protecting his. And, as a kicker, I have the care of a thirty year old Down's syndrome child. Foolish answers to foolish questions are fine. But I desperately require HELP in a big way. Saying good luck does little to help me at this crucial time in life. I don't care for the two cents made on this site. I do care about the level of care I give my family. Any real suggestions would be appreciated.

Mylot really has that potential. But unfortunately this is the trend. And when you get 30-40 responses on silly discussions you cannot help but start something of that sort yourself in the hope that yours will also get as much reply.Really I would love to see people involving themselves with serious discussions. This is all theory.Practically I have no hope that this is going to change any bit.

So my next questions is how do I get rid of this site on my computer? It holds nothing of interests.

I actually appreciate both. If you find silly questions, then you can even reply with silly response, but just be careful that you might get negative feedback from the admin. Or they might lessen your earnings.I also like serious inquiry because I can really participate and give my opinion based on the topic being dicussed. Keep posting. Happy mylotting. Have a nice day. I like both parts. Sometimes I ask questions because I'm interested in knowing what most people think. Sometimes its almost like its a survey. I've found that it is more interesting to have more meaningful discussions here. Some topics I can't quite relate to but others I can. I respond the best I can when I feel like I should respond. If the serious topic is something I don't know about then I might see it as I'm learning something about it or I just ignore it.

I try to respond to a wide variety of questions, ranging from the silly to the serious. I pretty much peruse topics and respond to any discussion where i feel i can add a suggestion, or a differnt insight to the topic. I enjoy the silly ones just as much as i enjoy the serious ones. I have to admit, most of the topics i have started would probably fall under your definition of "silly", but get enjoyment out of them, and often gleen usefull tips and information on the topics. I don't get as silly as "which sock do you put on first?" But i have started discussions asking for tips and hints to keep hair dye form fading so fast, the pros and cons of hanging out your laundry versus using a dryer etc. though i have also started and responded to questions dealing with love, life, loss, dealing with heartache, tips on job hunting, product recomendations, the un equal treatment of people based on their age etc... It all depends on my mood. Sometimes i am in a deep thinking mood enjoy giving long philosophical answers to discussions, and some days i get a good feeling by helping others find answers to their questions about beauty problems and products (as that is the industry i work in like to think myself somewhat knowledgable on the matter) And other days, well, other days i am just bored and will respond to anything! I think it is good that there is a wide variety of topics availiable here, something to suit everyone's taste! Yes, some are rather trite, and it gets annoying when you see the same question posted over and over, justwith differnt wording from differet people, but with a little digging, everyone can find something that interests them.

I think that the deep questions are a lot more interesting than the other questions. I like to read about other people experiences, thoughts and opinions and questions like "What sock do you put on first? Left or right?" just don't attract my attention. I think that one of the reasons why the mundane questions get many responses is that they are easy to answer. It is much harder to answer a serious and deep question, and if English isn't your first language it is even harder to write about abstract things. I think that a combination of "silly" questions and deep questions is the best, and luckily it is possible to find both kinds of discussions here on MyLot.

I think silliness and seriousness mix together in mylot makes it wonderful. I like mylot because it is unique not like the other site that I have joined. Hmm. .. I think the admin can divide the questions or matters into serious matter and silly matter. So, we can join into conversation to serious matter and we get tired of it, we can jump to silly matter... hehehe...
