Do you like to eat buffet? I am wondering why people like to have buffet. It is quite expensive if compare to Ala Carte food. But of course you may eat all you can in a buffet but try to think about it, are you really that big eater that can eat up that much of food? Can you eat more than what you have pay for that? Is it worth it? Normally a buffet serve variety of food and not all the food is your liking. Try share here. How much you can eat in a buffet, be it a lunch or dinner or supper? In my country, many restaurant now have started to have buffet supper as well.

When I was younger, metabolic rate higher. I can eat like a cow when it comes to buffet. So it was worth every single penny spent for buffet. Now that I am an old prune, I cant eat as much. What I pay for a buffet, I might eat only 50% of it. So I dont frequent buffet as often. But since I got my boy and since he started to like eating so much, we've started buffet again. Not for this old prune to enjoy, but for the little boy to satisfy his taste bud! We normally go for weekend hi teas where we can indulge and relax longer.

Hello Submerryn, thank you for your time here. It is good that you bring along your son for buffet and hi teas. If he is below 90cm tall, he can eats for free! I have bring my toddler girl to the buffet before. She can't eat that much but lucky she was just below 2 years and it is free of charge, of course only for her. We as a adult still need to pay. But now I don't think I will bring her to the buffet that often as she is 3 years old now, She is taller now, she might need to pay half of the adult price. LOL.

I like to go to buffet for the variety of food. I usually take the appetizer of vegetables, then the main, and the desert. I take care not to festch too much, so that for a few days i might feel bad with digestion. Compared with round table dinners, I like beffet, which is served at your own will. And the during the meal, you talk with friends or even strangers in an easy way, no need to present a formal posture like the banquet.

Hello, Zhuhuifen, nice to hear from you. It is good to organize and choose what food to eat first and second and next, so we wouldn't feel too full before we proceed to dessert. But for me, once I was in the buffet dinner, I totally forget about appetizer main course and dessert. I will go pick what is my favorite first. And sometimes I will go from the most expensive food first.

I can only eat little, but I do eat something every few hours and this is one of the reason I don't prefer to eat in the buffet. Sometimes I even order Jr meal when I'm eating at the fastfood and that's if I can, lol. But when we are traveling and we stayed in a hotel, we always get the packaged that would include breakfast and dinner buffet, I guess by doing this we can save a bit, because food in the hotel restaurant are quite expensive, but we only do this if we're not familiar to the place.

Hello Cjay, thanks for your response here. I agree with you, buffet is just not suitable for small eater like you. You may think of what you like to eat, and order the food directly from the menu is more practical. As for traveling, yes, normally the hotels we stay will included breakfast buffet. But I hardly get dinner buffet. To have a breakfast buffet in the hotal is good, at least you wake up in the morning and can just easily walk from the room to the restaurant to enjoy the breakfast buffet. It can save up time too. .

Hello, thank you for the response. Agree with you, the variety of food is a lot when you go for a buffet. But of course you have to pay more than a normal dinner too. Hence getting a buffet dinner only for once in a while, that is just me!

My family love buffet.. We can look and cook our own meal, that's the best thing about buffet. Me and my fam usually go to buffet for dinner, because after eat that much we feel so sleepy,, so we can go home and sleep after eat,, It's not because we are big eater but we just like it, like have the freedom to choose and take our own choices. we can take the drinks too as many as we like.. but yes, I must admit that buffet is more expensive than Ala Carte but it's fine because we feel satisfy^^,, Since my fam busy so we rarely eat buffet together..But I think buffet is perfect if you do some party or celebrate something..

Hello ChrysanTflower, It is good to hear that you like buffet. Yeah, buffet is more expensive than ala Carte but of course buffet has more variety on the food and even beverage! Once in a while having a buffet dinner with family or friends is awesome! No matter how much we can eat or what we eat is more than what we paid, I think this is no longer important anymore. It is important to get all friends sitting together to enjoy the food while chit chatting!

I am not a big eater but my family is. I have four kids so we go to buffets when we go out to eat. It can get really expensive when your paying for six and my kids stomachs are like bottomless pits, they never get full. My husband also has a hearty appetite so buffets work out great for us. We have several restraunts that have good selections so there is always something for everybody.

Sometimes I like to eat a buffet, but usually only when I am really hungry. When I was younger, I would go and stuff myself, but now I avoid doing that. When I go now, I will fill my plate and eat. I might get a little more, but usually it is just the dessert rather than another serving of everything. I mostly would eat lunch at buffets when I was working and everyone from work would go together. When I was growing up, my family would go for a weekend meal (I don't remember time of day). Thanks for bringing up the topic.

To me it is worth it. They are rather inexpensive for the amount of food and the variety you can get. You can pay ten dollars and have a steak, salad, dessert, appetizers and everything. If you just go there to eat a few things it is not that good of a value. But the variety is good.

Hi, thanks for dropping by. I agree on what you said. We paid for getting the all kinds of food despite we only eat small amount of them. But at least we can try out different of food. If we order for Ala Carte food for steak (Main course), salad, dessert any other food, of course we have to pay more than the buffet rate.

I love to go to a buffet. There are varieties type of food available for the same price. I always take a small amount of everything at first. I just want to try everything. I got this tips from my boss. You can't get it in ala carte dinner or you have to pay 5 times or more higher if you want to. Only after I try everything then I go to my favorite one. Since different restaurant offer different type of food, I prefer go to different restaurant every time I want to get the buffet. At least you can say that you have try every food available there. And if you want to go for ala carte, you know which one is worth for your money. Happy mylotting and have a nice day.

I used to love going to buffet's as I felt that I got great value for money and had a wide variety to choose from. For most people this is how they feel and is why they are so popular. I do not eat in buffet's these days as I eat very healthy foods now and most buffet's would tempt me into eating the junk that I used to eat! I do believe that the popularity of Buffet eating has helped the poulation to be overweight! People always eat way more than they need to at these places and mostly come away from there feeling tired and lethargic after eating. I know that is how I and all my friends have always felt after eating there! I do not like that feeling of being extremely full. These days with the foods that I eat, I always have energy to keep on going after I have finished eating! This is a much more productive way to live!

Indeed, I prefer theme buffet.. I never like to go places where the offer too much of different variety, but if the theme is good, it's worth it.. For example, if its a Japanese fair, I wish to see all the variety of Jap food rather than having other food served.. As for how much I can eat? I will start with very very light item, and try to take as many rounds as possible in order to taste the variety.. Beside beef item, I wish I could try all of it.. and if I like it, and I still have some space in the tummy, I will have a 2nd helping.. and most importantly, I will keep space for the desserts served...

We have a funny way to describe eating buffet: before eating buffet, one needs to eat nothing for 10 days to half a month. Then you go into the buffet restaurant with the support of the wall and after eating, you go out the buffet restaurant also with the support of the wall. That's very interesting. When you go into the buffet restaurant, you are too hungry to go into the restaurant yourself. And when you go out the buffet restaurant, you are too full to go out the restaurant yourself. I think only in that case we can eat more than what we pay.LOL. Just for joking. Besides, i like going to buffet restaurant. Coz i can enjoy different kinds of food there. In a nomal restaurant, we always have a dish in a large plate. That's too much for people like me who just wants to have a try of different kinds of food. P.S.I really wonder if the buffet restaurants make profit.

Good morning vingyan06 , now let us think the other angle of the buffet meals..I always think that through this process of buffet, I am able to reduce the wastage of food..I take in my plate only what I can consume...ask any hotel person and he shall confirm what I am saying..if a buffet is organised for say 100 persons, it is possible that even 125 to 130 persons can take meals there comfortably..that means through this process we have been able to provide food for those additional people from the same foos..what do u say to this ? have a nice day..bye

I love food but I am not a big eater. I seldom go to buffet lunch or dinner. I am disciplined when I eat and I don't overdo it. I don't want to gain a lot weight as I am conscious of myself. My family loves going to buffet restaurants but I seldom join them. I would prefer for a lunch buffet than dinner. I don't like heavy meals at night. Lunch is okay because I can still digest that throughout the day and usually I can't eat dinner as I still full even at night after the lunch buffet. Usually I can only eat a plate or two in a lunch buffet then I opt to desserts after that.

i do go for buffet once in a long while. it is not so much the amount i can eat. it is more of the variety i get to try. most times i go for buffets that offer a great variety that i like. two buffets i enjoyed very much are offered by two local hotels. one is a street food fair and the other is a japanese food fair. some may think it is totally not worth it to pay hotel pricing for street food but the hotel had brought in street food hawkers from a neighbouring country. the food is really to die for and i wouldn't mind going for it any time soon. the other was much more pricier but the variety is really good. if i were to eat the same things in a restaurant, i'll most probably have to let more than half of each dish go to waste. so buffet is really good when i hanker for variety rather than quantity. cheers

I usually prefer buffet on special occasions like when we're inviting people out to lunch or dinner. In a buffet, I am assured that everyone of my guests can eat whatever they want and I won't worry if the amount of food is enough or not. I'm not a big eater but when in a buffet, I get a little portion of everything and go back for seconds when I like to eat more.

I'm not really comfortable eating in a buffet system. I tend to have less than my normal intake and then later regret on my decision of having less. People in our place, generally organize the buffet in their marriage reception and we attend the function thinking we'll have a variety to eat. I think it is human nature to hate things he finds it in abundnce. So i do not for sure over eat in a buffet dinner :)

I would always prefer a buffet. It is not a matter of how much i can eat it is that I can eat what i prefer. No forcing down just because it is in your plate. I need not eat because i have paid for it instead can choose from the food of my choice. I can just eat normal be it lunch or dinner even if it is a buffet. May be that is the reason most of the popular restaurants encourage buffet. Happy mylotting.
