How much do you pay for internet connection?

Indonesia

Hi myLotters, just curious what's the rate of internet connection in your country? I'm from Indonesia, to get unlimited access up to 384 kbps, I pay $15 per month. Download speed around 30-50 kbps depends on what time I use the internet, but upload speed is unbelievably slow, I think only 5kbps. To get higher speed, 512 kbps I must pay $20, 784 kbps $50 and 1MB $100 (all in USD). Do you think mine is expensive? I know that some countries even offer free connection or lower price but with much faster speed. So how much is it in your country and are you satisfied with the service

I've never heard of a company doing things like that before. That's actually a really smart way to handle the internet connection. I honestly would be in trouble with that though since I use the internet pretty much constantly throughout the day.

I am very happy with the service provided by my ISP they do not include rent and also give 175 calls free per month, 1.5GB usage, i know i am limited with my usage but the best offer in it i have night 2am to morning 8am absolutely free during which keep for downloads and sleep and the system gets shutdown by it self. All this at very affordable for me that is 10$ or 500Rupeees per month. 1$= 49Rupees not exactly sure about it. The speed is 2MBPS i get download speed around 300 kbps max. browsing speed atleast is the best.

No the usage is only for 1 month. I happy to get such kind of offer. Well If i keep for download from night 2am to morning 8 am then i can down upto 4 movies within 6 hours the estimated download would be around 3.5 to 4 GB.

You only get 1.5 gb per month or per day? If it is per day, then I think it is quite a good deal since you get fast internet connection plus free calls every month. I only download maximum 1.5 GB per day, mainly downloading movies, but because the download speed not that fast, I only got 2-3 movies a day :) I think if I get internet connection that fast, I might be downloading more lol. Thanks for the response, happy myLotting

Yours is very cheap just to pay 15 dollars. Of course, you say your connection is slow. I have the fastest connection there is, with IO. My phone, cable and internet is all combined into one bill of 135 dollars a month. It's a lot of money, but I am very happy with it as my phone is unlimited to anywhere in the United States which is where most of my friends, naturally, are, and I can talk to them for as long as I please. To me its a bit of an indulgence, because its a lot of money, but I work, have fun, and keep in touch with friends through the internet, so it is money well spent.

Yup, I must say that your $135 worth every cents opalina. You got 3in1 package for only $135! Currently I also use the same provider for cable TV. For both of those, I only pay $25. Of course, there is also drawback in this package. I only got local TV channels and the internet as I said is quite slow. If I upgrade it so I can get foreign TV channels and higher internet speed it might cost me up to $150, and yours $135 but with your phone unlimited! So I think it's quite a good deal for me also, if I have that here...Thanks for the response, happy myLotting!

I am from India, I use Reliance Broadband internet connection. My plan is with 300 kbps with unlimited usage for 799 Indian Rupees. I prefer this speed for browsing and its even convenient. My download speed is around 30 - 35 KBPS, I have not noticed upload speed. I am pretty much satisfied with the internet service.

I pay $24.95 for a month. I think that's about US$30. That's with 256kps and 128 down with 500MB monthly data with a bonus of 1GB. The bonus is between 11pm and 11am.

I'm Not exactly happy with it but it's all I can afford. It's better than nothing I guess. Internet and phone and electricity etc are VERY expensive in Australia.

Oh yours is quite expensive I think with all those speed and limitation. The bonus is only 1 GB also quite little considering in my country I get unlimited download quota, but if you're happy with it I guess you are fine..Thanks for the response!

I am also having the same 384kbps, and I pay about $20 per month, and the down load speed is also the same 30 to 50kbps depending upon the time, but I have noted that it has never touched 50kbps consistently and it is always less than that. I do not know the uploading speed, because I have never uploaded anything. My broadband providers name is AirTel and for 512kbps I just have to pay another $3 to $5, which I am thinking of doing. I am not fully satisfied as well as I am not completly dis satisfied. It is O.K.

Hi ramesh, mine also never touched 50 kbps consistently , it depends on what hour you use the internet and also if the website allows you to download in that speed. For example, if I download something from rapidshare at 7-12 PM, it will be very slow, I only get around 10ish kbps using Download Manager, but after that around 12-6am, I can get 30-50 kbps. If I download from local website, I get stable download data, around 30-60 kbps no matter what time it is. I'm also Ok with the situation, but considering to change to another provider which gives cheaper price but faster speed. Problem is, I must buy CDMA modem again, and abandoned my current modem :( Thanks for the response!

mines about $15 a month as well. download can hit up to around 75Kbps and only 20Kbps. i really wish i can get some better internet connection, but im not willing to spend $50 a month. its just too much of a monthly fee that translate to $600 a year
• Indonesia
4 Aug 09
Yes, if you think it on yearly basis, paying that much of money is really really expensive, better stick to the current one as it is enough for me, although I wish it get a tiny bit faster than it is right now:) Thanks for the response!

I have high speed cable internet. Unfortunately it does cost $50/month although when I bundle it with the phone and cable it is down to $30 each. I don't know if they have different prices for different speeds as I just got what came with the bundle. I know that I can get dial-up for under $10/month, but I wouldn't go back to dial-up if my life depended on it. Thanks for bringing this up.
• Indonesia
6 Aug 09
Ah noo daeckardt, don't switch back to dialup connection. Usually dialup really slow and it's just painful to see our download speed so low when we need faster speed. I think $50 is okay as long as you satisfied with the speed and got cable TV. Currently I paid USD 25 for both, but I get few channels and low internet speed, so I think you pay a good price for the bundle. Thanks for the response!

Currently, i don't have to pay for my internet connection because my employer is paying for it, but there are many sites that has been blocked, including youtube and streaming media site. Even at my home, I'm using internet connection that has been provided. I used to use a mobile broadband connection, but it not good if I'm using it at a rural area because the area don't have 3g connection. It cost Rm68, around usd20, I think. happy Mylotting

You're so lucky to hava all the internet expenses paid:) Haven't tried 3G technology yet, since my cellphone does not support it. But from my friends experience, same as you, it can only be accessed in the city. Not sure I can use it while I'm at underdeveloped area or province. Thanks for the response!

Ok, where do you live, cause I went to London before, and I was shocked to see I must pay premium charge to call my airline, which is usually either toll free in my country or charge me the regular fare. I know it's completely off topic, but I just wanna ask lol..Back to topic, if it is 30 euros, then I think it's worth it considering you got such a good download and upload speed. Thanks for the response!

I live in Holland. Companies have such a lust for money that they don't give a sheep for their costumers, it's just money money... Yeah, I am happy with the speed. But where is my modem. We also have digital tv but heck video on demand doesn't seem to work...

Oh yeah, wanted to add that their consumer service is completely worthless and they still have to send me a wireless modem... That's gonna be calling the inapt help desk for me at 10 cents a minute... Oh well, I shouldn't be dawdling considering what some people have to pay for similar speeds, if it's even available for them, that is.

Wait..I must convert it to rupiah, cause I don't know how much is AUD/USD lol. By 90$ you mean Australian or USD? I think you mean 1.5 mb download and 100 kb upload, cause rarelt the ISP offers upload speed faster than download speed. Well, if you get those kind of speed, it's also about the same here, even more expensive, since for 1mbps, I must pay 100 USD :( Thanks for the response

I live in Hungary, My internet provider is "Digikábel". I have 20bit down, and 10Mbit up speed.I think it's quite good, for downloading stuffs, and just for surfing too. This 20/10 Mbit costs only 2500HUF(Hungarian Forint). It's about 10-12 $/month. I think it's quite good :)

Ha? Seriously? Wow, yours is super duper cheap!!! Very fast with a very cheap price. I think in my country people have to wait much longer to have such a good internet connection, because right now the infrastructure is still in poor condition and although the government promise to lower the internet cost and building more fiber optic:(

in my case, i have 512 kbps and i am paying around $20 per month. i think it is almost the same in indonesia. i am from the philippines by the way. i think there are getting cheaper as more and more companies especially the wireless mobile are entering the internet market. with more competition, there will be price wars. and the winner will be the end users or customers because companies will offer the best and cheapest internet service they can afford to provide.

I agree. Recently there is just a few competitors offering internet connection. Now, there is a new provider which offers more competitive package, I only pay $20 per month for a year and you get a package of CDMA wireless modem and 1.5 mbps download and 384 kbps upload speed. Afterwards, I only pay about $15/month for internet package. I'm considering to change ISP, but still looking for other users testimonial about the product. Thanks for the response!

Hey, well we pay about $99 for our internet connection. We get about 20GB of Internet Bandwidth and normally we do not actually use up that much bandwidth per month. Our speed is about 20MBps which is quite adequate too. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!
