China & North Korea: Ever wonder?

United States

I'm sure that North Korea's nuclear capabilities, or at least, desired capabilities, is known all around the world. It also seems that they have been threatening to attack South Korea, & possibly Japan if those two countries interfere with their ambitions. They have also tested out various rockets/missiles, to the chagrin of much of the rest of the world. Keep in mind that those nuclear tests were awfully close to border of China. yet, it can be said that it is because China is North Korea's staunchest ally, that they're not concerned. So far, when the other nations of the world want to impose sanctions, the government of China, & quite often, Russia's government, quite often blocks them from passing, or proverbially waters it down. Maybe I'm just being a conspiracy theorist, but is the North Korean situation possibly some sinister plan that the Chinese government has? Even though the Egyptians & Mesopotamians seemed to have their own form of paper, the Chinese had it as well. As Marco Polo discovered, the Chinese also had paper currency that is widely used today. Militarily, they also had advances there, such as the first flame thrower & gunpowder. Even though gunpowder was primarily used in fireworks, the first fire-arm was also traced back to the Chinese. I'm pretty sure there are many other things that I'm not thinking of also. I'm pretty sure if for some reason, China got into a conventional war against North Korea (I doubt it would happen, because of their alliance with them.), by the time the news got around the world, the war would have allready been won by the Chinese military. It also seems that China's anti-missile system is rudimentary as compared to Japan's. Keeping in mind that there was a lot of friction between China & the USSR during the Cold War era, & now, with North Korea developing advanced missiles/rockets, I wonder if it is a lack of concern about North Korea's actions as an ally, or if there is something else that we just don't know about. I wonder what people think. I would also love to hear from people residing in Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, & other southeastern countries as well as New Zealand & Austrailia. Also, if there is anyone living In Japan or South Korea as well, & especially anyone living in China. It seems that if they actually have the means to launch a missile that can reach the United States, I'm sure that they can reach the countires I named, as well as those others in the areas that i may have left out. Do you prefer mashed potatoes or Smashed potatoes?

Such deep thinking for so early in the morning. I am never quite sure what motivates political leaders to do or not do things they do. As I recently stated in a response to someone else, getting the facts from someone who is actually living in the country of question is much better than listening to the rhetoric the media spits out to keep the masses glued to their TVs. So I think you are on the right track in asking for mylottians to respond about these issues. I will be watching.

I'm finding it odd that (at the time of this comment, anyway), only people from the United States have responded at all. I have seen other discussions on this where someone is predicting an Indo-Sino war, & someone mentioned the possibility of Korean War II as a possibility. I also responded to another discussion where former US President, Bill Clinton, managed to get the two American journalists sentenced for spying on North Korea pardoned, & returned to the United States with them. Along the way, there was this one picture where Bill Clinton posed for a picture with Kim Jong Il that I thought was so funny. First, Bill towered over him, & at the same time, Mr Kim had this BIIIIIIIGGGG smile on his face.

Sooo, makes you wonder what Clinton traded for their freedom??? The American government has been sticking their noses in other countries business for a long time. Maybe there would not be so much conflict if they would mind their own business.

I like mashed potatoes. I like them with butter, gravy and sour cream. A little salt and pepper also. Pass the chives and bacon bits. Potatoes can really be a full meal if they are dealt with properly.

I like French Fries best, but mashed AND smashed potatoes are yummy too, (stereotype alert) I am Irish, I wonder if that is why I love potatoes any which way they are cooked! Anyone who underestimates the Chinese do so at their own peril. (Stereotype alert) Look at any honor roll in any community where Chinese kids attend the school, they are always at the top of the list! The Chinese are smart, if they are doing or not doing something, they probably have a reason for it, and that reason is that what ever they are or are not doing about something will in some way benefit CHINA. N. Korea can do the dirty work of the China and China's hands appear to be clean. China could easily squish N. Korea if they wanted to, and N. Korea is not a threat to China, both are communist and have similar global interests.
