Racist Double Standard of the Left...

For 8 years, many of Prs. Bush's opponents called him "The Chimp". There were tons of charicatures representing Bush as a chimpanzee. Now, I have nothing against political cartoons. Political satire is as old as print itself. I know my own brand of satire is offensive to some.. that's ok. However... What would be the reaction from the hypocritical left if someone depicted Obama as a chimp?

Well I can tell you exactly what the reaction will be " it's racist". Bush gets depicted as chimp that is ok. But Obama....all heck would break loose. Let's face it...the media and just about everyone has to treat Obama will kid gloves when it comes to how they choose to critize him for fear of being called a racist. What was ok for past presidents will not be ok for this one. Heck I have been called racist just for disagreeing with his policies. So am I sexist for disagreeing with Pelosi? That would kinda hard comparing I am a woman. But you can bet the liberals will be looking for ways to twist any negative comments or political cartoons into "racism" to shut any decenting voices up.

I think because African Americans have been called very deplorable things over the last few centuries, "monkey" and "ape" being some of them, that any satire bulking Obama into that category will not go over well. I think in the event of W, it does, as they are referring to his chimp like capabilities of doing as he is told with rarely much thought behind it. If people want to suggest Obama is a bad president, they can draw a brick, or something that has not had past racial meaning to it.

But that isn't how it is, is it. Obama has made demands on what is off limits, and the incompent press has not only bowed to him, but defended it. Any insult towards Obama is twisted into a racial slur. The sad part is, Obama himself is as racist as they come.

First of all, he attended a racist, Anti American church for 20 years. You don't sit in a pew saying "Amen" to the racist crap spewing from Rev. Wrights gob for that long unless you agree with what he's saying. He believes that opportunity for people should be based on the race of the person. He is the antithesis of Rev. Martin Luther King's "I had a dream" speech. In his warped mind, poverty among White people is somehow better than poverty among Black people.

I think too many hands are in the pot. This is a pivotal time for America, having a Black president, so many will instantly say negative comments on his work are racist in some way. You say Obama himself is racist. What drew you to that conclusion? I am grateful that he went on a no on 8 campaign, saying such a campaign is divisive.

Probably about the same as the hysteria shown over the "Joker" pic of "The Messiah." Of course...no-one on the left got upset when President Bush was depicted as the Joker.... Hmm. Wonder why? Maggiepie "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?"

I have come to the conclusion that every one in the United States is racist except Pres. Obama and his lovely wife Michelle Obama. I have come to this conclusion because the media says so....therefore, it is true. I wish myLot had a gag me emoticon! This one will have to suffice.

People ARE AFRAID to critisise Obama for fear of being called racist. AND THIS IS EXACTLY THE WAY THE LEFT WANTS IT. That way, there is less critical thought expressed. And NO ONE thinks about the things that are happening around us as I type. We have to stop thinking in terms of left vs. right, democrat vs. republican...and start thinking as AMERICANS!

debra I am not afraid to ctitize Omama because non of my criticism have anything to do with his race. I very much critize his handling of the job he is doing as president. I have been called a racists so many times that is has become a joke, especially with the black members of my family. I just keep in mind that being called a racist is only because these people do not have the intelligence to debate the issue in an educated and civiliated manner.

Do you understand there is a difference between criticizing a president, and referring to a black president as a "chimp" which has been used as a racial slur before? If you don't like obama, find creative ways to insult him. That way, you are being fair to all other presidents you don't like. But find a way where you can use words that don't have a racial connotation to them, and then you will not be accused of being a racist. Its not like someone is saying, "you are a racist because you are opposed to obama's healthcare reform." Or "you are a racist because you are opposed to his foreign policy". But, if you go and call our president a chimp, that could be construed as racism (even if not intended to be), as it has been used as a racial slur before. Can you think of a word or a sentence to describe his performance, or lack thereof? If so, post it here, and we can judge it based on its merit, and wont have to worry about any derogatory terms. Simple enough? And, on another note, He has not even been president for more than a year. Why don't we give him a chance? He is running a country. Most of us take years just to get our finances in order, or shed the last twenty pounds, or make a schedule for ourselves. He has had almost 7 months to lead our country.

I don't recall ever calling him a chimp? I think the worst I've called him is a narcissist. And I was quoting a medical professional's blog on the subject. I don't even recall responding to the part of this discussion that concerned him or Bush being called that. But I guess if I am against Obama, I am a redneck racist nazi backwoods inbread barefoot and ignorant hillbilly domestic terrorist. So says the left. Sorry, but I've read to many comments left on videos, blogs and forums by the left, calling any conservative so many OFFENSIVE things...it makes me sick! And you want to whine that Obama gets called names? I didn't do it! And technically no one on this discussion did either.

Obama is a democratic go card for the party. Because of his race many will treat his Presidency with kid gloves so as not to insight racial out cries. Not that it matters because the cartoonists will come up with something else, like the joker posters in LA. They may not be able to do chimps but get him the will.

You know, a black friend of mine once said...don't mince words with me just cause I'm black, that offends me more than your words ever could. So, if all through the history of America...Americans dissed their presidents freely, why are we suddenly feeling like we have to treat Obama any differently? If he's big enough to sit in the Oval Office....he's big enough to deal with how the American people feel about him....even when it means some of us don't stroke his ego just cause he's black! What did he do to become 'black'? I know I didn't do anything to become 'white'. It is just how it is....he's black, so WHAT! He is first and foremost the president....and accountable to the American People. The fact that we even discuss his blackness is proof he is using it to further his influence....and a white person doing that is called...... what?

It was offensive to call President Bush those name, and it is also offensive to call President Obama chimp. I don't think two wrongs make anything right. It's a shame that people cannot disagree on politics without calling each other names.

True, Venshida, but it wasn't a crime to call Bush a chimp, but drawing Obama as a chimp could be considered a racial hate crime. So much for free speech.

People are so ridiculous and hypocritical, I agree. No matter what party you are from, most times with race you have to watch what you say. The problem for me is that most black people claim they want equality (which I think a lot of them in organized countries already have) and they want everyone to drop the race "issue," yet they are the first ones hollering and screaming when they think ANYTHING can be perceived as racist, even if it wasn't meant to be. Also, isn't it racist to have affirmative action and Black Miss America Pageants, among other things? I don't care who you are or what color you are. I wish there never was such a thing as "race." We are all humans, and it might be cliche to say, but it's true.

I was actually just thinking about this same sorta subject, I personally would not call it racist. I was very curious why so many conservatives were upset when people could call Bush "Dubya" (is that right?) but, continue to call Obama with a zero instead of an "O". It's all very interesting. But, maybe Obama supporters should get very upset if a chimp cartoon came out just to throw the shoe on the other foot.

It already happened months ago. The chimp cartoon wasn't even about Obama yet the left screamed racism over and over again and caled it a right wing hate machine and all that crap. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/02/18/new-york-post-chimp-carto_n_167841.html Note that if Bush had been president, nobody would be writing articles about race.

I'm shocked Taskr, the Huffington Post? LOL You refreshed my memory, I sorta remember that. But, ya know in all honesty, if you look at Bush and Obama's ears, they do look like chimp ears. They both have ears that stick out just as chimps ears do.
