Yep! I can actually see and read "words" on my TV now, I bought
my neighbor's TV set on the 3rd. aka PAYDAY!!!!!
It was his son's TV set, yeah its been USED HARD, but so far it
is working great, the buttons on it are a bit touchy, meaning
you might be trying to raise or lower the volume and the TV will
shut off or change channels when you are not trying to do that
but hey as I said It basically is working, and the main thing is
I can friggin, see and Read words on there again you don't know
how long I've gone with my 32 yr. old set not being able to do that;
So take a look at my photo you can see even from the picture
that the words and text is coming through clearly;
I can't wait for Big Brother to come on tonight I will be able
to see what the "hell" they are saying at the bottom of the
screen now..WOOHOOOO!!
I'm a happy camper and for only $40.00 it was money well spent
and I can actually see ABC NOW..OMG! its coming in so clearly!!
I'LL BE REALLY EXCITED for when Dancing With the Stars returns again;
on my old set its been a nasty station to come in, ABC (SIGH)!!!
I CAN SEE CLEARLY!!! I CAN SEE CLEARLY!!!

Oh, this was a fantastic buy and I am so happy that it is working. You mean that you actually had a TV that was 32 years old? I've never had one that lasted so long at all. I hope that you will get a few years use out of it. That price is amazing and a good deal. enjoy all the shows that you have been wanting to watch. Blessings friend, blessings

HI Dear {{Cynthiann}}, Yeah I still have a TV set that is 32 yrs. old
and it still works, some of the stations on it was really crappy though, like
on NBC it would be a "greenish cast" on the people's skin color, any skin
color...LOL! On ABC it was fuzzy and Orangey colored it was AWFUL!!
some stations came in clear on the crazy old thing but you couldn't read
any words on any of the stations, not weather alerts nothing, it was
very blurry...
but I will still use it to record shows if needed, funny thing is no matter
if the station I am recording is say green on NBC..when I play the tape
back on this other small tv of mine or out at the farm for my Father
it is the "right color" ...crazy I know...
but yes that was a great price and I hope it lasts for a long time
not sure about the buttons on it though as I said it's been a kids tv
and he is only in the first grade and like all kids they are "rough" on
anything they own..LOL!!
I had to laugh at the "smudges" on the screen boy was that thing dirty!!
good to see you!!!
I've not been on much the last couple of days...on the weekends I really HATE
DIAL UP THEN...it knocks me offline so much I just don't even get on anymore..(sigh)!
stupid dial up service!! BLEH!!

You've reminded me of something but I cannot remember the explanation. A few years ago my daughter drove me to Atlanta and we went to the CNN centre (amazing) and they said something about the colour green. It was very important so of course I have forgotten it. But there is an explanation so when you record green doesn't come out. I know it's weird but I do remember an explanation. Someone will tell us from Mylot, I bet.

It is always great to remedy a problem with a small investment, rather than a large one. When you have to accept really poor quality for a long time, any kind of improvement is spectacular. I am glad that you were able to do this for yourself.

HI Gerty, how are you?? Yes I agree!! it is worth every penny so far (G)!!!
Hopefully even though his little boy has had this TV set, I hope its not too
over used/button wise LOL! You know kids they are really really "hard"
on things these days..."little beasts" at times...
How's things out your way this summer???

talk about making things last. our next door neighbor gave us a lawnmower because he got a new one and i looked at the copyright on the mower and it said 1963. that some good TLC with his mower but you really used that tv up for that long. thats a cool accomplishment. what a money saver.

Congratulations, girl! Mom's TV did that, too. She plain wore those buttons out, so you'd be changing channels and it would either shut off or the volume would change. I had to fix the remote so she could change the channels that way, but she kept pushing the wrong buttons - so eventually, she'd just tell me to change the channels for her. Like yours, the picture was great. Enjoy!!

Hey Girlfriend, Yeah baby, so far so good picture quality wise and that's
all I care about (G)!!
this one didn't have a remote with it anymore I might try one of those
universal types but I have the cable channels pulled in through my
VCR/DVD PLAYER, that way I've always had a remote to use especially
on that old tv...it was the push/pull button kind to turn on etc...and
then you had to flip the channels back in the days...LOL!
so far I'm loving it...

I am so glad you found a tv set for $40.00! That's a bargain! I'm glad it works as well as it does, too. It's amazing how things have changed in the last 32 years, isn't it? They just didn't make tvs back then the way they do now. Kathy.

Hey Kathy, how ya doin??
Yeah its amazing how much TV's have changed over the years and they still
keep changing them, most of it is for the better but I highly doubt
any of those high dollar babies would ever last 32 yrs, probably to hope
for say 10 years would be pushing it..LOL!!
I still want a "new tv set", I think after all these many many years
I deserve one, one way or another you know?
Yep I was thrilled when my neighbor said he had one he'd sell me for $40.00
sometimes it "pays" to talk to them huh? LOL!!!

Hope that you're still enjoying your purchase. We bought a 26 inch Sony TV brand new a couple of months ago and enjoying it for sure. I can pretty much read everything I need to with it so that is nice for sure. All I can say is to be able to have a Good TV that you can watch something from and have a nice enjoyable evening from is great for sure.

That is ok, I am not on here as often either. No things are not doing too good. We found out yesterday that his infection level in his blood is rising. We go back to see the doctor Friday for him to see him. It sounds like it won't be long before he is back in the hospital.

Hey Sweetie,
I've found that posting or responding after 9:00pm is probably a good time. I don't have dial-up but most people, family included think anytime after 9:00 is too late for any phone calls etc.
Thursday is going to be a humdinger!!! I think Jeff is going to take both Russ and Lydia off the block and put Jesse and Natalie up. Chima will lay an egg!! I am so excited I just can't wait. Hows about you?
Love Ya

HI Leenie_darlin: OH believe you me I'm a watchin my shows for sure,
trying to post on here about them though of late has been just
impossible especially on fridays, Saturdays, or Sunday's...that's
the worst time not only for dial-up but my friends and family usually
call me and that knocks me offline right in the middle of a post
I MEAN EVERY TIME I WRITE SOMETHING ON HERE or on other places
that's when the phone rings, and when they hit the redial button
it knocks me offline then...then I have to growl and hiss at them
on the phone DON'T DO A REDIAL...( lots of cussing) as I explain
to them AGAIN, it will knock me offline...and then to try to talk
to me about something really stupid and un-important really irks
my A$$ you know? LOL!
but This Thursday nights Big BRother should be really super
interesting...I wonder "who" will get the boot? Will Jeff play
the 'coup de taut'??? I can hardly wait.
Love & hugs to you...

HI ya Leenie: Yeah I think old Chima did more than that "egg"...ROTFL!!!
it was so funny, I really hoped to see Russell get the "boot", but
to see the show so shook up was worth having him stay some more;
I nearly tossed my cookies though when they were all sitting around
the kitchen table and just basically having a "memorial" for Jesse..
COME ON LADIES WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's more interested in his "muscles" and body than a woman or "guy"...LOL!
I doubt he's ever even been in a "relationship" ya know? Just my two-cents
by his "actions" when around a woman or someone like Kevin he acts so
odd towards him, shame on him!!!
Well it should be interesting TUESDAY NIGHT that's for sure!!!
and then ESPECIALLY THURSDAY NIGHT....YIKES!!

Hi ShellyB; Thank you!! I am very happy so far with it...
I just sit there on my couch and flip channels and go "Wow" I can read
that, like on the shopping channels I can read the descriptions and prices now
can't afford to buy that stuff but its nice to be able to "read it" you know?
I hope this one lasts me too for awhile, I'd love to own and buy myself a
Brand New TV...I think I deserve one after all these years you know?

i noticed that with my tv. i bought it brand new for $150. it was not a popular brand. it is china made. the picture are great and every thing but after year the buttons will have problems like you have though we rarely use the buttons cause we use the remote mostly. but the popular brands are $50 more expensive so i opt with this cheaper brand and still i am happy with it. it gives me great satisfaction till now to have this tv. and i am looking for more year with this tv.

Hi Hotsummer: Wow I can't believe its been two weeks since I wrote this
post and am just now getting around to getting back to you;
SHAME ON ME....(G)!
Been enjoying my clear picture (used tv) I bought and then when I am
online I have to fight with stupid dial up here its a nightmare!!
I've still not gotten around to buying a universal remote for the tv,
doubt it would work but just haven't had the money either;
I hope your TV set lasts you a good long time too, I wish all products
we buy would last longer it would sure help us out you know?
good luck!!
