i dont know if other country can relate this but here in my country flipflop is actually tsinelas though in a social way coz its a branded tsinelas lol.... i dont know if anyone will disagree but thats the truth... i remember a long time ago, if we saw someone wearing tsinelas in a party or even in any kind of events people say that they are poor coz they not able to buy shoes or sandals.. and that you can only wear tsinelas at home or going to the supermarket or just around the area.. i cant help it really, and im sorry to say this but most people are so fanatic that whatever inroduced in the market they will grab it in order to be in.. right now, you can normally see people wearing flip flop in everywhere, in a party, school activity, at the mall, and any events... they become the trend without thinking that they are wearing tsinelas though the branded one... i also wear flip flops and yes its very comfortable though sometimes people just become so overacting wearing it...

I can say that their feet are not nearly as sweaty or stinky as those of us, like me, who wear work boots all the time. LOL

Hawaii chappal - very light and comfortable wear at home
Here in India, most of us think similarly. Flip flops or Hawaii chappals are very popular here but as a relaxing footwear at home. Ideally hawaiis are meant to be worn at home, either at the end of a tired day when you would like to take your feet out of that uncomfortable shoe and put them in soft and light Hawaii or maybe the lady of the house will always wear colourful hawaiis at home…me too, I just cant walk barefoot inside the house, no matter how clean the floor is. similar to your place, its really the poor people here who wear Hawaii to work…those who really cannot afford a pair of decent shoes. Nowadays, Hawaiis have become very colourful and decorated so a lot of college girls are wearing them to college with Capri pants and they do look nice with their floral patterns…very summery and since they are quite cheap, these girls can buy different pairs and match them with the colour of the apparel.

I would say that there is nothing wrong if someone is wearing a pair of flip flops. As we know, before a person can't enter a mall or a bar/restaurant if he/she is wearing flip flops. I like wearing flip flops as its very comfortable especially when I am walking around. I don't buy the branded Havaianas as its expensive and looks like the ordinary slip-ons. I like Banana Peel as its more cheaper and I like their designs.

I absolutely love wearing flip flops. I have so many pairs in different colors to match different outfits I have. I have so many different types and pairs of shoes from flip flops to heels to sneakers. They are comfortable and I prefer flip flops especially in FL because it's so hot.

There are all walks of life and many are measured by the material items that they own. In my opinion that is just wrong to judge another that way. Fiip flops are worn here by men and women, anywhere they feel they are comfortable. They are made in different styles with different materials now. I myself I have a pair only they are made from leather not that foam stuff, I like them because of the comfort not because they fit into a certain class or people.

and i cant believe that some of this flipflops are so pricy. i can see what you mean that sometimes some people wear it when it is no longer appropriate to be on tsinelas. i live in marikina and even the public school here you can not wear tsinelas in school. yes there are public schools all over the philippines that students wear slippers to go to school. this is the city of shoes so there are a lot of shoes for sale on cheap price so nothing to worry about. i wear flipflops also but not at work and not on parties.

Hello! There are so many different kinds and beliefs out there that I always like finding out about something , like here in this writing . You know I did hear of that the "poor" because the shoes look very plain . I cant live without flip flops and the only time I will not wear them is when there is snow outside . Summer is just about over now and I will wear them in the fall . Just something cute and simple about them . I have an array of colors as well and love just wearing them with jeans and a hoodie

I like flip flops and I don't mind if I wear them in the mall as long as it looks appealing and good design. There are so many different kinds of flip flops you can buy in the market. Most flip flops would also look like a foot sandal here. But the original tsinelas in the Philippines is made out of ordinary rubber and you can easily smell it. Anyway, if flip flops are worn at house or in the local market, i don't have a problem, it is comfortable and easy to use. But I don't see anybody wearing tsinelas in party or in school (not unless there's a flood) and kids wear this to protect their shoes. Also flip flops are not allowed in offices. Not unless they are not that strict or no visitor to come and you are just in your own desk and you use your comfy slippers to relax your heels instead of wearing your high heeled shoes. But wearing flip flops does not mean you are cheap or so. It will never be a way to determine even the character of a person. If they like to wear it in parties, then it's up to them. Maybe the theme was about Hawaii and tropical setting

I wear sandal alot more than flip flops myself. I never really was too much interested in flip flops. They never supported my feet enough for me to wear them.
