What age did you start to have white hair?

Are you feeling uncomfortable to see your white hair growing? Do you dye it in order to hide it? Do you feel self conscious when somebody comments on your white hair? I am still young for white hair but I do have couples of white hair, I get this from my parents, they both have white hairs when they were young. But I don't feel self conscious because it is not a lot a lot and I like my hair.

Hi mermaidivy, I don't have a single one. I used to colour my hair blond as I thought it was going darker and I stopped completely three years ago. It went a bit darker to start with but just from the sun it's gone really blond again, but a natural blond. My hairdresser says it's much better now and raves about how lucky I am not to have to worry about white hairs.

I stopped dying my hair for a long time because my hair cannot afford it anymore.

Well same here, i stopped when I tried to do it myself and one bit went a strange shade of navy blue, I'm glad it happened as couldn't afford to keep doing it anyway and it was such a pain. And the reward, natural blond hair rather than the mousey colour I was expecting.

i started to have white hair at age 15. apparently i'm very stressed and didn't really know it. my hair dresser spoted it. and thats when i started checking my hair for grays and i would pull them out when i find one. people say they will grow back faster. but i only pull like 3/4 out of it out so a little bit is left of the gray and its un-noticeable so maybe that will work.

I think stress might be one of the reason for me too...

I had a streak when I was a teenager, I think it was from a lot of stress that I was going through at the time. But it went away. After that, I didn't start seeing grey hair again until I was in my mid 30's. I am offended when someone mentions it. I don't know why. I am at the age where it really shouldn't bother me. I guess it is better to be old, and wise. And I never was one to worry a whole lot about appearances, as long as I look my best. I can never see myself coloring my hair, although most of my friends do. But who knows what the future will hold.

Im not really sure but I think I found my first white strand of hair when I was 14. I know the elders would say not to pluck them out but I still did.LOL Im just not used to seeing them on my head. The one I got was still half black and half brown so I guess it was just starting. They also said not to pluck them because when they grow back, it will be doubled or something like that. Well, I found only 2 or 3 white strands in the span of 5 years so it didnt really affect the growth as they said it would.

Yep, I think it's just a myth. More like an "old wives' tales".

I think that is not true, I still pluck it when I see it.

Hello ivy! sigh, I have this problem too. My dad was mostly white when he was forty and alas, I have already started. But I intend to fend if off for as long as possble. I color it every time I see a gray hair but it's also fun because my sixteen year old daughter and I do both of us at the same time. Maybe one day I might let it go gray totally but definitely not before I'm sixty!

Hello mermaidivy, I think I realized that I have white hairs when I was in my early 30. I was surprised and worried too much that time cause I think that I was still young to have white hairs but thanks to all the products that I put/used on my hair. Nowadays, I don't count the white hairs and am not worry too much as they can't be seen obviously for the time being *smiles*

I started going grey at the age of about 24. I get this white steak right in the front that is really thick...I do dye it...but sometimes I let it go...and it really is noticable...I do notice that when I dye it, it tends to take years off my face ;)

Here I am again my friend. Let's talk about white hair. Yes and yes about that. I have lots of it and yes I dye it already not to hide the whites but to hide the age ha ha ha ha ha I had it at maturity age already and no regret with that because some said (same bracket age of mine), white hair are signs of responsibilities by a responsible man...he he he thanks

I thought guys don't really care about their white hairs, it represents they are "experienced"? I though.
