Most of you know that James has been in Rehab for a drug addiction for the past 6 months. He will graduate on Sunday, and we are so proud of him. Not only for the fact that he's been substance free for that long, but because we also see growth in him spiritually, and in maturity. He has been talking to Amber, his girlfriend from high school for the last couple of months. They were dating when his drug abuse got really bad, and she told him..It's me or the drugs. He chose the drugs. Now that he's clean, they have reconnected and he has told his Dad and me that he has fallen in love with Amber all over again. The kink in the relationship is that after they went their seperate ways, Amber began to see someone else. She is now 8 months pregnant with someone else's child. Someone who doesn't want anything to do with the baby. James has also ask his Dad and I to support him in his decision to marry Amber and raise Addyson as his own. They are taking it slowly, and will continue to date after he comes home and Addy Grace makes her appearance. They are hoping to marry sometime next year. So..I am going to be a Granny! Or Nonnie as the case is. Mike is really excited, though it took him longer to get excited about the baby than it did me. He bought Addyson a bubble suit that is Pink plaid and has ruffles across the butt. It says Papa's Precious Princess across the front. We're going to go to all the second hand stores this weekend looking for baby furniture to have here at the house. I would love to use Target cards to pick up some of the stuff, but unfortunately, my points are almost nothing right now, and even though I spent more than two hours on here earlier viewing and commenting, I only earned 10 points. I don't understand the new system at all. Anyway, Amber went to the doctor today, starting the first of her once a week appointments. He said she was doing really good and the baby sounded great. She's dilated to a 1 cm. so hopefully it won't be much longer. Dr. said sometime in the next week or two. James comes home Sunday so we are hoping for Tue or Wed of next week!I'm adding a picture so that you can see what James and Amber look like! I love this picture. The way she is looking at him is just so sweet! You can really see the love on her face.

I'm so glad things are working out. James has even more incentive to stay clean now. I know the Bible says God works in mysterious ways, but sometimes I think God works in weird ways. And I'm happy that not only will your son be getting a new start, but Amber's baby will be welcomed into the world, wanted by a whole lot of people.

Don't you know it! My two sisters in law (Mike's sister and his brother's wife) are both already grandma's. They have boys! So Addy will be the first great grand daughter on Mike's side and the first great grandchild period on my side. I told his sister the other day that it was only fitting that I have the first great- granddaughter after two great-grandsons...since I also had the first grandson after two grand daughters!

Can you believe she and my other sister in law had the nerve to call me a suck up? LOL

Wow, from one extreme to the other. It does not surprise me that James is such a caring person, as his mom and dad are also. I assume by the points comment that you also posted this at Gather. I never earned well there, but I have friends who say they did. Keep on plugging away, I guess. Enjoy that precious baby.

Oops. I thought I had taken all the gatherisms out! LOL I talked to Amber earlier. She had been to the doctor today and he said she was doing great. I'm so excited that I can hardly stand it. She has asked me to be in the delivery room...along with her mom and the baby's other grandmother. The parents of Addy's dad want to be a part of her life, even though their son doesn't. I told Amber to let them. They didn't need to suffer because of their son's selfishness.

The more interested and loving adults in a child's life, the better.

I agree. There are two young ones that I used to babysit. Their grandparents either don't have an interest in them, or have passed on. MIke and I serve as grandparents to them. They don't know that we are not their Nonnie and Papa. I'm anxious to see how they react when the new baby gets here.

Well my friend, you know that I will soon be posting pictures of my granddaughter right? LOL I will love her unconditionally and she will be the most loved little girl on the planet. Even if she's not James' biological child, my family is welcoming her with open arms, and can't wait to spoil her rotten!
