Are you picky or selective in terms of responding posted topics?

Hello guys I would just to make an apology to all of my friends who sometimes expected their topic to be responded also by me since we are friends here... Honestly if the topics you submitted would all be about movies and electronic technology, I would ask an apology on that because I could not really respond it always. What I mean is, my knowledge of these interests are limited and seldom and rarely upgraded... How about you guys are you the type of mylotter who answers whatever notified discussions coming to you?... I was just being honest to my self...

Hi mobhomeir, I have some friends who almost always come up with topics I want to respond to as I've been lucky enough to find some people on the same wavelength. I wouldn't feel obliged in any way to respond to something they posted that was of no interest to me. I hate it when I'm notified about 10 topics at once all from the same person and in those cases turn the alert off and maybe respond to the odd one. It's best if you accept friends who have simialar intersts to you, if I get a request I check the profile and can easily see if we are likely to want to communicate. So don't feel guilty about not responding but always respond back to the ones who respond to you.

I got what you mean. That's why I felt guilty to some of my friends who always keep on responding my posted topic and when it would be my turn to their topics to respond, I could not anymore do it cause sometimes they posted topic that i wouldn't have knowledge on it...well, anyway I appreciate you idea...I like it..thanks for responding...

It works two ways as well mobhomeir, there's a couple on my list who never respond to any of mine but I respond to theirs, but that's fine, as long as my response is acknowledged with more than a thank you for responding.I wouldn't expect my discussions to be of interest to all my friends on here, just as I can't be interested in all of theirs.

I am picky about responding to topics. I choose only those to which I could contribute something in way of a response. It is difficult to keep on blabbering about things which you are not really aware of, or interested in. The good thing about mylot is that there is never scarcity for good topics that interest me! And, I can always rely on my friends whom I chose here on the basis of our common interests.

Although I always try to look at what my friends post for their discussions quite often it can be a subject which I know absolutely nothing absout in which case it is pointless responding for just the sake of it being a friend who started it. I am sure they do the same with mine and would prefer someone to respond to my discussions becuase they had something worth while to add rather than some false obligation becuase they are a friend. For me I just tend to randomly surf on here looking for things which interest me and responding to those.

Hi mobhomeir, I think everybody are the same. We can't give a response to every friends discussion unless we knowledge of it. It is better no to respond rather then giving a worthless response. And nobody should feel guilty about it. We came here to share our knowledge or experiences. How we want to share it if we never knew about it. And if we give a wrong advices especially on technical problem, we might cause the problem become bigger. There is no obligation give a response to every friends discussion. But if you could do it, it is much better. Happy mylotting and have a nice day.

I try to answer all of the topics I find in myLot since I've got nothing to lose. Even if I'm not an expert in the specific category.

i am pretty picky because i just dont have a whole lot of time to spend in here. i usually stick to answering discussions that are somewhere in my interests and i tend not to like lenghty ones just because i dont have the time.

I will not call it picky but I usually respond to topics that interest me because either I have had a similar experience, I thought I could help, or intrigue by the question.

Apologize accepted Well don't worry, all of us are like that too. Not all topics here we can relate to their topic so no need to say sorry for that, although I accepted your apology heheh! I am not choosy, but then if I can't relate to the topic specially about politicians abroad and personalities I don't know, then don't respond. There are so many topics to choose from anyway, and besides you can also create your own topic if you have something new to spill or share. I guess most Mylot members would appreciate your honesty. Unlike some members who would just copy paste their topics or even answers, that's more shameful.

Honestly I am very picky when it comes to responding to discussions..that's why sometimes I get bored here in mylot because I just don't seem to see discussions which captures my interest. You're not alone my friend I too feel the same about the other topics in here. You don't have to apologize about anything my friend,it's not your fault.I'm sure our mylot friends will understande everything about it. Don't feel bad man..:)

I supose i can be picky, but only to the extent of only responding to discussions i feel i can actually add information, or opinions to. I won't respond to a discussion if i have no interest or knowledge that can be shared. That being said, i think people who post discussions should pay particular attntion to the Headline they choose for their discussions. I find that if i want to get people to read and possibly respond to my topic, the best way to do this is by having a good headline. Like how magazines use "Teaser" topics on their covers, you glance at something, and go "what in the heck do they mean by that" or "that sounds really interesting, i what what it's all about". It is kind of like sales in a way, you have to draw them in by writing something interesting that gets their attention. At least for me. That is how i find many discussions that i think are like diamonds in thr rough, things that many people would pass over if you were to just give a boring headline. If i see a discussion started that just looks intriguing, or has a topic that makes me wonder what they are even talking about, i am very apt to open it up and give it a read. Sometimes i still find i have nothing to add to the discussion as i have no knowledge of the things they re asking, but many times they are quite entertaining and engaging!

I'm too, selective on the topic I'm going to respond. I choose topic that I can relate and can give advice. But if I can relate on the notified discussion, I made comment on it. But if not, I just find another topic to comment. Don't feel sorry about it. You want to be true to your self. Why you respond on topic that you canot understand and relate on it? I'm sure mylotter friends will understand you. have a nice day....

I think you are right. For some areas we are not very familiar with or have little interest in, it is OK for you to ingore them, we could respond only to the topics we like or have something to say.

Hello Martin, I think it's not being picky or selective, but it's what we feel of,regarding what topic or discussion we feel to respond with. I respond to topics which i can relate my feelings and mostly based at true life experiences, becoz,it is easier to respond such topic where i can express my feelings, that i don't need to think of what to say. I also don't respond to topics which i am not upgraded, becoz i knew i can't contribute well with such discussion. Have a good day amigo
