I Love My Laptop But Sometimes It Drives Me Crazy!!!!

My husband has always complained about touch pads on laptops, and how out of control they are. I can control mine most of the time, but every now and then something totally slips, and I do something I did not mean to do... like just now, I went to start a discussion about my problems with Yahoo under Yahoo, but it somehow made it into the "sister" interest. AARRGGHH!!! I could not figure out why "Yahoo" didn't show up at the top of my interest bar, but figured it out right away, when I looked closer at where the discussion, which was still up on my screen, actually landed. AARRGGHH!!! I went back to "start a new discussion" and fired out what happened. My finger slipped, and I clicked on "sister" which was right above "Yahoo" in my "new discussion" section (the interested are sorted in order of number of discussions under each one from most discussed to least discussed), and that put the discussion in a totally weird place. Anyone else sometimes get totally irritated with your laptop? Any secrets for making sure your finger doesn't slip? I really don't like holding a mouse, and I do not work at a desk, so having a mouse is out of the question, but when my laptop plays stupid tricks on me like it just did, I get annoyed.

I had a laptop which lasted for 10 years, I was very well with it and I did not like to use the mouse at all so I used the touch pad only which sometimes make me go crazy too, then after the 10 years I bought a new DELL and when I tried the touchpad I found not to my likes and when I saw my boss having a wireless mouse I also bought one and since then I just love to work with the mouse which is wireless and laser so no need to roll over something smooth and no need to place on a table only. It is like a miniature and very light to use, it does not need any wire as I said and you can place it anywhere even on a bed sheet. You can try it if you want. However I have to admit that I also still use the touch pad for pretty small tasks.

Hi, I think I got your problem. In the touch pads of laptop, there will be scroll bars at the right end for vertical and bottom end for horizontal scrolling. So while moving your finger over the touch pad you might have hovered over the scrolling parts an thus it will move your screen as you are scrolling a page. Please check this and reply back to me. Or post in my discussion for computer related queries. Regards, Reyas MCTS

Our "good" laptop with the touch pad crapped out on us a couple of months ago, so I'm not feeling sorry for ya with your touch pad slip ups! ha, ha! You know I love ya girl! I know I'm totally sick of sitting here at the desktop computer & my butt is sore from this chair. I would much rather be out on the couch that reclines with a laptop. We still have the ollllllllllld laptop, it's old, but not as old as "the old guy"!! It has the little red joy stick thingy in the center of the keys. Now that thing is a pain in the rear! And the laptop in general is slow & I rarely use it. Our friend G looked at the other laptop & it was ticking him off & he quit working on it. Then I cheezed him off the other day about something else, so he'll probably never fix my laptop now! Oh, so did I even answer the question here? Nope! I do remember having some issues with the touch pad on the laptop, but I just figured it was because it was old & I had dropped it a few times. :S

eheh yes sometimes your laptop is crazy and so it irritates you as well!!Normally i never had problems or irritation about hardware so touchpad that i like or keyboard and so on..but surely when sometimes the system is low or your processor is overworking and so it will slow down your work beh i was a bit bored about it....you know i have an old notebook so sometimes the instance of the processor cna be slow..may be with th new generation of processors this can be quite solved in many cases...

I do not care for the touch pads at all an use them as LITTLE as possible. I can handle them just fine and do not slip, but I have been on a computer for so long that using a mouse comes so natural to me. And th touch pads seem to respind so much slower, especia;ly the scroll. They ( mouse) are very small now and way more responsive than a touch pad ever will be. I have a wireless on both my lapops ( I do not have a PC any longer) I can use the mouse so well if I am not at a desk, I can so it from my knee. Put a magazine there or on your lap and see how easy it is.

I don't have any suggesstions for you because I have the same problem from time to time. Usually it's the palm of my hand hitting the touch pad and the cursor moves somewhere else and I end up typing where I don't want to LOL

This is why i don't use touch pads. where ever i go i bring along my small optical mouse. its easier and its not that heavy to bring. especially if i will be doing heavy works, if i'm just surfing the net for a few minutes then maybe i won't use my mouse. Its geeky, i know, but its better.
