whether white german shepherds are included in the breed standards?

I have a 3yr.female black & tan German shepherd that is akc reg. and i have a 6 month old female white German shepherd!The akc doesn't recognize them because they are all white! But they do recognize the new breeds of labradoodles,puggles,chiweenies,and so on,these are mutts. There is a National White German Shepherd assoc. where you can reg. your white shepherd. They have shows also! My opinion both of mine are very much alike as far as personality,loyalty,they are a shepherd!! And I love them both!

Well this is good to know, I actually like the white color!
I know that a lot of people shy away from that color, but I'm glad they are good shepherds !

You are right people do shy away from white dogs! I know in some breeds a white pup might have medical problems to where the rest of the litter doesn't. We also have a flashy brindle boxer, and white boxers tend to have alot of medical problems. Some have said a white boxer is a defect in the bloodline. But I'm not a vet or an expert.I love my white german shepherd she is a great dog! I have noticed when someone knocks on our door or something makes the other 2(black&tan gs& the boxer)bark, our white gs might let out a bark but she is quite. She doesn't even gr when she is playing! When strangers or someone she doesn't know comes over she sits right at my feet big & tall and then she will bark at them till they sit down and when she is comfortable with them being there she will go check them out when she's ready! And I have read about the white GS. that you let them come to you. But she is very smart and lovable!

But my question is, other than the color of the breed standards, are they just like a german shepherd, in personality,size, intelligence, loyalty, protectiveness?
To me color doesn't mean that much!

as far as i can tell yes they are very much alike! My white german shepherd act just like my black&tan. My white one is only 6month old and is already bigger than my 3 yr old black & tan!They both want to be leader of the pack! I'm just a shepherd brat! we have a boxer also!

I talked about this with a professional dog breeder and he told me the were swiss Shepherds, not German Shepherds. It seems that they are also smaller than the normal German Shepherds. My Lola is still a puppy, but she is a beast. Thanks be given that she loves me and my family. She is over 50Kg of active flesh and has changed her baby teeth so now she could eat a whole elephant if she wanted.

As far as I have ever been told or heard, white German Shepherds are not recognized by the standards of the AKC and cannot compete in most dog shows, unfortunately, as they are beautiful animals. I'm not sure why having a white coat disqualifies them from competing, but I don't believe they can be registered with the AKC either.
However, they are just the same as any other Shepherd - beautiful, loving, protective, intelligent - and would make just as great a pet as normal tan-and-black coated dog.

White german shepherds are difficult to find, but do exist. They are adorable, but can get dirty quickly...lots of bathes needed!
However, if one is interested in showing german shepherds, go for your average black & tan coloring. According the AKC (American Kennel Club) website, "a white dog must be disqualified", and even pale, washed-out colors, blues, or livers are "serious faults".
Bottom-line: When it comes to a show quality german shepherd, stick with the traditional black & tan.
