Gas versus charcoal?

Personally i love charcoal grills. In fact I refuse to buy a gas grill. Not just because how expensive they are but because I love the flavor of charcoal grilling. And the durability of a charcoal grill. I am using the same weber grill that my parents had back in the day, probably before I was born. LOL So gas or charcoal?

I think charcoal cooked food tastes much better. But we purchased a gas grill because we wanted all the bells and whistles. It is a lot easier to use. The food is not as good, but still good. When we had the charcoal grill people would always spray that starter fluid on the charcoal and the meat would end up smelling or having a faint taste of the starter. I know with the gas grill it will always stay lit.

You're the second person I know that said the starter fluid smell gets on the food. LOL I have never noticed it and I dose mine down like crazy. But I also let my coals burn on their own for quite awhile before I add the food on the grill and I use aluminum foil on the grate for easy clean up so maybe that makes a difference. Thanks for the response and happy grilling.

I like charcoal grills, really I do. BUT my sister in law works for Char-Broil so she got us a grill a few years back, it is a mac daddy gas grill, it is awesome, it cooks quicker than charcoal and it doesn't taste much different that from charcoal.

I guess if I got a sweet deal or one given to me I would use one, but I am a creature of habit. How funny. Thanks for responding.
