Oh it happens to me everyday. my memory is like lightning, it comes roaring n then gone in seconds. In my free time i think abt some good topics to start a discussion but once i log in not a single thing comes to my mind. i should pen it in the future.

Hi malpoa, I was struck by the phrase you used there,'my memory is like lightning' is it by any chance a Chinese saying as I have never heard it before but like it very much. If you can't think if a good idea then don't start a discussion or else you'll be quickly bored by the responses you receive, I think my ideas just mainly come quickly when I'm on Mylot. I was on a little while ago and received an email which bothered me so thought it might bother other people too so put it down straight away as a discussion.

Hi malpoa, your memory really does sound bad if what I thought was a new phrase to use from the Chinese language is actually only something like that. Here we use the phrase 'my memory is like a seive', if you aren't familiar with the word it's the kitchen implement you drain water through all the holes. Is it usual to keep the fridge in the dining room or just how you do it? My fridge is firmly in the kitchen but my washing machine is in the bathroom, that is the Greek way

Oh if there is a chinese saying, it might just be a resemblance, coz i dont know any of chinese sayings!!! The thing is that, my memory is actually like that...In our place, fridge isnt in the kitchen, it is in the dining area, so while cooking i rush to the fridge to get something and by the time im there, phew...i retrack what i was doing n what i might be needing from fridge...
hi hi it happens even when i fight with my husband and beforehand i recollect all the points to say but while in the argument I forget a few...and some points even come spontaneously...
gooday thea

Hi, thea09. I don`t think much about these discussion topics or i simply don`t get a spontaneous idea when i am out of my home or doing some other important work. As when i get an idea (mostly when i am working on my laptop and thinking about something), i simply type it down in a file.
Maybe, when i will become a bit too experienced and creative, like you are, the ideas will just come up spontaneously anytime, anywhere. In that case, i will just jot them down into the pocket diary that always remains in my wallet, or maybe let it slip off if it i not a very important and exclusive idea.
Happy Mylotting!!

Hello again friend, you actually come up with some topics that I am itching to join in with but don't allow myself as I find that one cannot have rational debate in the religious section and I choose not to engage in a shouting match. Perhaps I should take a look at some of your older posts as maybe you managed to keep an open debate going well. I've not generally found this to be the case though and whilst I am happy to debate and discuss, don't wish to be told to explain myself or prove my ideas. I'm sure you understand.
Yes spontaneous ideas are often the best, this was a frivolous one when I made a joke with my son, and not meant to turn into anything much. The only one I recall giving thought to in advance was the Keats one, and that was because I didn't know how to title it. I actually have the same issue with a very serious discussion I want to start as well, but am sure it will bomb due to lack of response, so although the subject is there, the title still festers. I am sure you will recognise the serious subject matter when I do post it.

You're welcome my friend, and whilst I appreciate your name it does seem a bit of a mouthful and rather formal sometimes, you'll have to come up with something shorter for me to call you when we converse.
You must do well on discussions to retain a red star and discuss religion, I will certainly take a look. I remember in one such discussion, not yours, I gave my valid opinion of something and was immediately told to back it up from the Bible, I do not enjoy this kind of confrontation. My serious subject is now up and was immediately I finished talking to you last, you may not be familiar with the figure there as much before your time, but I would value your opinion, as always.

I think i understand what you mean.
Actually, i also don`t find it comfortable for me to start a discussion or to respond to a discussion that is based on some controversy or some soft points of the human life, which includes religion also. So, i try my best not to post anything that is too much specific to a particular community or a group or a religion. But, as my username suggests, i have an unchangeable nature to ponder upon and to discuss the things that are actually relevant in real life, and such thins are bound to have some debate. But, i consider, this is the way the views are shared and the real problems are solved. That is why i really love them. But, i try my best just to put my views but restrain from compelling others to change their views. so that a discussion remains a discussion, does not turn into a debate.
But, different people have different approaches, and most people out here don`t share the ones i have. That`s why most of my serious discussions die out in scarcity of responses, as you also suspect for your upcoming discussion.
Thanks for your comprehensive comments. Happy Mylotting!!

Yes, I do that, no I do not remember what your idea was. I tend to grab whatever paper is available and write on it. I even went so far as to write discussion ideas on paper towels during a trip in June. I bought a notebook, but cannot always keep it handy. Good luck Thea on figuring it out.

Now I really thought that you at least would be able to remember my idea for me GardenGerty, you usually have a quick response. I do have an actual note of one written down, just the word 'koubara' but although the idea is good I lack a snappy title for it which seems to be my downfall.
Now don't go cleaning up with those paper towels until you've transferred your ideas to the computer

Sad as this sounds, yes it does and usually when I go to bed. I can be laying there staring up at the ceiling and suddenly I will get an idea for a discussion. Instead of getting out of bed and writing it down I will just lay there instead and you guessed it when I wake up in the morning for the life of me I can't remember what it was and no matter how hard I try the idea won't come back.
Now knowing your discussions I reckon it could be something to do with a wonderful Greek tradition to rival sticking heads on the front walls or religious leaders partaking in Kamaki.

I know where all those lost discussions go. They end up in the land of the odd sock somewhere located near to the black hole otherwise known as the washing machine.... hee hee

Hi dlr, now Rob above had the edge on you as he read my mind and got a discussion himself out of it. I knew actually that people would do it all the time, and it shows as well that when you think of an idea really quickly without giving it any thought at all first, you can end up with a discussion.

This happens to me plenty! Makes me think I should carry a note pad or find the charger to my old palm and make sure I have something on hand to write it down so I don't forget. I so hate that when I try to remember somethign good for a discussion and forget all about it.

Hi snuggle bunnies, maybe our ideas for discussions just weren't very good in the first place which is why we forgot about them. I do it with other things, I'll write a shopping list then leave it in the car, or tell my son on the way home that he can't go out to play until he's done X but then I'll forget until later and he'll think he got away with something.

hi thea yes hatley here. I had a great idea in the middle of the
night but when I finally got on mylot zoom it just flew right out of my head. so I can sympathize as I have been there and done that too.
It has happened to me too many times. I swear I am going to write down the next great idea when I first think of it. this reminds me of what a writing teacher once told us in class.he had thought of some great ideas for the story he was writing. so he got up in the middle of the night and scribbled them down. but the next morning when he went to read them he had just scribbled about six wo rds over and over. So much for his great idea.he was so shocked he finally burst out laughing. guess he just wasnt too awake and his mind did not properly set down the ideas that He had dreamed of.wow.

Hello again Hatley, it's all a small dot in the scheme of things anyway isn't it.
I can sympathise with your writing teacher though and know exactly how it feels. AFter years of grappling with Greek grammar in came to me in the night finally how to understand 'cases' in Greek, I scribbled it all down and woke the next day to find I'd written pages of gibberish in Greek which I'd understood perfectly well in the middle of the night. It was so clear when realisation finally struck but it had disappeared again by dawn.

Yea... I know exactly what you mean, I hate when I forget the topics!!! Just like when I was taking a shower this afternoon, I was thinking something really interesting and kept telling myself "Please remember it and I have got to post it as soon as I got out of the shower!"
I sat down in front of the computer, I still remembered what I was thinking, I suddenly received an email, I checked it... then I couldn't remember at all... it was irritating, I kept trying to think but I couldn't come up with anything...
So I either post it immediately when I think of the ideas or write it down on the paper first.

Hi Ivy, you just had to bring up the shower when the water's off again! You put so many discussions up on here that you must be on the computer for ages typing them all up, the one I thought of yesterday still hasn't come back to me but I blame it on the heat. It was probably something about insane motorists as I was in town at the time and the roads were completely insane yesterday.

Good morning, Thea. There's a way around this. I write a lot of articles, and I get ideas all the time, but can't always get to the computer. Being an ancient bird, I tend to forget things quickly, so I keep pads of post it notes around the house and in the car. Then, when I get an idea for a discussion or an article, I jot it down. Once it's been dealt with, I just peel off the post it and throw it away. Works for me.

Hi Sandra, you obviously have a systematic approach. I jot things down all the time too but not Mylot discussion ideas - if they come when I'm online they will come. If I do think of anything first then it is probably overthought and then I can't think of a opening line so usually just leave it. Mind you I did come up with the Basil one a while ago but didn't use it till the other day.

Hi thea,
I think most of us face it at a time or another. Their is some possibility of memory lost from the time we think about it and when we want to implement/post it. The longer the time the higher possibility of this memory loss occurred.
You should bring your pen and notepad every time you went out. Write it down when you have any idea of anything. You surely didn't forget it anymore. Unless you forgot where you put your notepad
.
Happy mylotting and have a nice day.

Hi akuler, the memory does get worse in summer time, sometimes we can even forget what actual day it is as they all tend to run together with such a long holiday.
In actual fact I think the completely spontaneous ideas which come whilst one is mylotting are better than the ones which need thinking about in advance

before I got the chance to steal it.
