I know quite a few people who do this and was wondering do you actually make a profit or is it really worth your time? Confess here LOL

I sell Avon. I originally started 10 years ago when my daughter was born. I did very well, selling on average $700/campaign (which is every 2 weeks). I made a profit of anywhere between $200 - $300 and sometimes more (especially around Christmas). It was great and I had a lot of fun. I stopped selling because I moved and just plain got busy. Well I'm happy to say that I started selling Avon again in February of this year. I'm in a new area with very little friends right now so it's going kind of slow, but I'm confident I'll get going. My orders are approximately $100 - $200 right now. I just have to be careful not to be my own best customer! Once I get my customer count up I think I'm going to get into leadership, that is where the real money is. Not only would the money be great, but I have a sales/marketing background and love training other people and coming up with flyers & newsletters, etc. I really enjoy Avon, but I also know that there are a lot of other great companies you can join in the direct selling field. I can only say this: research, research, research. If you enjoy the products and believe in them, then you can sell them.

Avon is worthwhile only if you run it like a real business. If you consistently work on building your customer base and providing excellent customer service to your customers, you will be successful. You must be patient, building your customer base can take a long time. You can definitely make a profit if you don't spend too much money on yourself. Make sure when you spend money on items for yourself that you are "paying" for it by putting the money you owe for your purchases into your separate Avon bank account.

I have a friend who is a Avon representatives. She shows me a catalog from time to time and I buy some accessories and facial products. I guess you can make some pretty good money from it if you know a lot of girl friends who would buy.

I know of some people that sell things too. I have contemplated selling something like Avon before. Then I found out that you have to purchase all of the brochures that you send out and figured it wouldn't be worth it. Not to mention it seems that there are too many people selling it so how could I really make a lot of money.

A friend of mine used to sell Avon. She said she would spend more than she earned on items she wanted. So she didn't make a profit.
