I just read a news article about a 6 year old girl who snuck food from her family's kitchen without permission. As a punishment, she was bound hands and feet and left on the bed; in instance for a week straight. As a kicker, those family members surrounded her with rubber bugs and rubber reptiles to frighten her. The three family members involved have been.. "charged with abuse and neglect and reckless disregard for life". They received only a $1,500 bond. Does anyone else see a sick injustice in this occurance? Do you feel that these caretakers should be free already? Do you believe that they should have a higher bond, or do you believe that they should receive NO bond? What's your take?

That is awful. They should have a much higher bond and should be charged with something more severe than just abuse and neglect...if they get convicted they probably won't even go to jail, what is the justice in that for the little girl?

hi zooey that was outrageous, what should happen is to have the child taken away and adopted by p eople who will love and care for her. then these people should be imprisoned for at least five or six years but not let to have that girl back ever again. people like that are not to be trusted around children.

For one, these people should not have been allowed to have a child in their house at all, under any circumstances. Not only did they neglect their child but they tortured and tormented her, for their sick pleasure. The $1,500 bond was outrageous, I know someone who went to jail for something far less than that and had a $25,000 bond. In fact I think that they really should not have been allowed out of jail. They did something horrible to that child, they bound her up and tortured her. Maybe if they fed her once in awhile the child wouldn't have had to sneak food out of a refrigerator. This is appalling what family members will do to their children. They should definitely not be free. They should have been taught their lesson, and stayed in jail for awhile. And who on earth paid the bond? That's ridiculous that someone would pay the bond for someone who did that to a child. This is inexcusable, under any circumstance.

This is so ridiculous.Yeah she may have done this without permission but she didnt desire a punishment like this. There bond is extremely too low and needs to be raised.People are becoming very sick and it is amazing how things have changed from when I was a kid.

I firmly believe that it should be 'an eye for an eye'. Anyone who commits a crime against a child shoudln't be let out AT ALL! And they should have done to them what they did to the child and then some! Want to hear something else that is INSANE!?!? My ex husband came and snatched my son out of my driveway and I have custody. They would not MAKE him give him back. I had to take him to court and even then the judge did not make him give him back. He has NO place to live, NO money, NO job and nothing for our son. All my son had on was a t-shirt and underwear. He had just gotten out of the bath when he pulled up and instantly ran outside. We have court again next Tuesday. I have my son back now, but that's BULL POOP that he didn't make him return him. The only reason he gave him back is because when I filed the protection order, contempt charges, and visitation modification, I also filed for child support. The stupid, stupid man should of just stayed in Louisiana. This world is going to hell. And I'm pissed that I spent $5,000 on my lawyer and those court orders aren't worth the paper they are written on. It's rediculous. They just let him keep messing with us and mess with us and mess with us. Bet they throw me in jail when I flip out and hurt him when I can't take it anymore. Sorry, got off track and started ranting... My point was that YES this is outragous and it's never going to get any better because the consequences are a JOKE! Don't you think someone would think twice about beating a child if they knew that they would be beat ten times worse? I think there would be less child abuse and child deaths from abuse if it were like that.

Hi. zoey7879. Aww, this is so sad! I feel that these caretakers should have a higher bond than this. All of them should get no bond. They should spend the rest of their life suffering. This is so sad that they have done this six-year-old girl like this! If she is sneaking food then that means that she may be hungry. They should just give her something to eat, rather than punishing her. That did not help, it only made matters worse!

i do not think we do enough to protect the children in this country from such heinous montsters as these. my heart breaks for the little girl. how can anyone do something like that to anyone let alone a child? they should be punished to the highest extent of the law. this is abuse above and beyond cruel. i have often said that the law protects the criminals not the children. i have a stepniece who was sexually abused by her stepgrandfather and gave explicit details to officials, yet the jury found him not guilty. it is sickening. it happens more than we know i would imagine.

I agree that it's very sickening... and as a parent.. I find it very frightening. One very well known case of the similar thing happening is the case of Samantha Runion. The man who molested and murdered her had before been brought up on trial, accused by the daughter of an ex-girlfriend as well as her niece, for inappropriate touch and behavior. I can't remember if it was trial by judge or jury, but they just didn't quite seem to buy the little girls' story.

Oh my God what abuse. How on earth can people do this to anyone let alone a 6 year old child. This is horrible and my heart goes out to that poor little girl. What is going on in this world today. Everytime I turn around another disgusting thing is being done to another human being. I don't think they should have been released and and the bond should have been $10,000 each so they couldn't post it. How did the authorities save this little girl and where is she now? It makes me sick in my stomach when I hear stories concerning innocent children. What is happening to the people of this world are they all going insane?

It sounds absolutely terrible...poor little thing....what is this world coming too? If entire families are becoming so cruel to such young children then.....I'm at a loss for words. It's devastating. I don't understand the word BOND...I presume it means what we could call in the U.K.... a FINE...no i think they should have gotten much more than a just a FINE....not quite sure as in Jails you're bad habits can get accentuated....but on the other hand some do get reformed too....and alot of the inmates hate child abusers and probably would have given them a good thrashing....but then the child would have had to go into a foster home......and if it was a good one then great....but there's no telling.....the system is all soooo messed up......so difficult to say what should have been done.....I know the answer if we lived in an ideal world...but....today is far from it....all I can say is that I hope the family is being really monitored closely.....and the underlying problem is that this world is built upon Capitalism and not on true loving values...so aslong as such 'system' prevails...things are a mess. We need a radical RESTART.

This is really disturbing and real outrageous behavior by her family. I think its not enough bond after what they've done to the poor girl. She's just 6 years old. I hope she could recover and forget the traumatic experience and for the culprits, I wish the penalty was higher.

No, I believe that they should have a higher bond. This was a cruel and unusual punishment for a six year old girl that does not know much. The adults should be help responsible and go to trial.

Yet another sad story .The worst part is,the people committing the crime are never truly brought to justice.I think these people should have to sterilized and the children taken away for good,Plus some serious jail time the inmates will take care of them .Does not seem as ,if they ever stop but the kids keep going back to them, after they served there time or learned their lessons.. They never learn ! They are sick and do not the deserve the blessing of a child. When so many want to have a child and can't.I wonder how many people these days are walking around with problems ,that stemmed from childhood at home. I have seen this with my own eyes, different situations and it just sickens me. Sorry for the rant.

Very disturbing, very wicked and very selfish. A child is a child. If the girl wanted to eat, let her eat. Why let a poor innocent child suffer such abuse punishment. These people really are sick and they needed to be sanction. About the $1,500 bail, well it depends on the country's law. If they have that for punishing, then the law makers would have something better to plan. It is really sad that these injustice happens every where in the globe. And a few people will stand against abuse because some are afraid.

This is disgusting. First off, why would they punish a child for taking FOOD? I hope they lost custody of all their children and they should be left in jail for awhile. That is one thing I don't punish for. If your children are hungry you feed them. I will take away the sweets if they get them without asking and give them something a little more healthy. What kind of person ties up their child? The parents are certainly unfit and deserve to go to jail for child endangerment, neglect and abuse.

That is just wrong. What happened to the little girl? Just for sneaking food? How crazy is that? I think they should be bond in the same manner while the child sits there and eats whatever she wants and tortures them with the thought that she's enjoying being a child and pay back or revenge is sweet and bitter. You said it was three family members which ones were they or does the article say? Sorry for all the questions just trying to get the full story.

NO BOND. Imagine the psychological damage the punishment caused her. I would be messed up later in life if whenever i forgot to wash the dishes, i was strapped to a bed and mocked. Any of us would be damaged. so they should have NO bond. But oh well, hopefully they get in big trouble once court begins. Life in jail, sounds great.
