I keep my saved amount in empty bottles of water too and label them as savings. Its mostly loose change and some small currency notes. Mostly count it all at the end of every month and paln to buy my hubby a car or new ring...Apart from that they are other savings which i collect in coat pockets, thats persoanl and attends to my personal budgeting like a watch or dio perfume etc..

i have my own checking account for that , i just don't want the money that we will use for family stuff in that account because then it may get spent and then we will not be able to do family things but so far this is working for me.

That is a clever idea. I have done that before, I wanted to buy a patio set, so I saved for a couple of years throwing my change in to this big glass holder. I was finally able to buy it and we still have it, I got a really nice one too. I also always keep a piggy bank for our vacation every year. We are usually able to go on a nice vacation with some of our tax return money combined with the piggy bank money.

That seems like a good system. For us, we are trying to get out of debt, so all of our extra money goes to that.

i will always be in debt because when i became disabled and could no longer work i tryed talking to the credit card companies to give them what i can and they said no they wanted $350.00 a month which i don't have so there is no way for me to fix that.

Loose change I put in a jar and keep for odds and ends things that come up, like needing money for the toll road. Extra money that's in our checking account I move into our savings accounts. Every paycheck I save money in our household savings account and the tax savings account. I'm concerned we're going to owe money on our taxes next year because of the lower withholding they're doing this year. We have different things we save for too.

I haven't really done anything with the money I've started to save. It's just sitting in my savings account right now. I'm actually thinking about saving a lot of it up and using it for fall back purposes and for Christmas shopping for this year since I've got a job and will be able to pay for a lot of things on my own this year. It's always nice to be able to buy the things I want to buy for myself and for others. Plus, I'd really like to save some money in case something comes up in which I've got to fall back on my savings account. You've got to plan ahead and I don't want to not have any money saved in case something comes up.

i closed my savings account because all the banks around here have a min if you fall below it they charge you $2 and i can not garentee to keep the min in there when i have children things may come up so i have it locked in a safe so i don't get charged

When I use coupons I just figure it into my food budget and that alows me to get more things for my money. When I get mail in rebates and things like that I put them in out fun money savings account that we use for date nights and dinners out as a family. When I get change I put it in a bottle and we use that to pay our kids weekly allowance. They get more excited about eight quarters then two dollars and it takes less planning for me.

we throw our loose change into a tin that looks like a minature milk can (the type that farmers used to use) and with that money, we use it for family outings such as going to an amusement park or other things such as going out for ice cream for a treat.

I dont really do like you do and label containers with what i want. I have my money sorted by what i saved it from - like coupons, change, "work on the side" and i keep track of what i have. Money i save goes to things like trips to see my boyfriend, my nintendo wii purchase & games, clothing, camping trips, my park pass. Things that are extra that i generally cant afford to get or do if i dont save.

that is a good goal i hope you make it i just bought one 3 years ago and i am paying less on my morgage than i would for rent so i am happy with it plus we put some work in it and will do some more work on it but we save money because my husband can do it all himself on his days off so that saves us a lot of money, but i hope you reach your goal and get a house.

I also have a piggybank that is for vacations. Thant money, the money I earn online and some small amount of dollars they give me for the use of my credit card all go towards traveling. The smaller coins are for eggs as I have a place near my house that sells better eggs and less expensive than at the super. Take care

I wish I could do it that way but I know my hubby wouldn't be able to keep himself from snitching that money for cigs or whatever. SO one must be cautious in saving. I'm hoping to pay off a dept store credit card and then work twards paying down our van.

That's why people like to save - they want to use the saved money on some stuff that they don'r expect or they want it to be travel money or what so ever.

I like to spend the saved money on useful stuff like shopping(hahahahahaha) kidding!:-p It would be nice to have saved money for shopping or travling etc all those luxury stuff but if I need money on something more important, I would definitely use it instead.

I am never good at saving money because everytime I save a little bit, I will use it. It happens every time since I was small. i get tempted to buy things I like vey easily. But good to know people like you can save money though.

Thats a good idea to have the containers and must keep you motivated. I dont seem to be able to save much at the moment. We are heading to Australia in October so I think we should start saving fast!
