The Meaning of a Friend - Do you think its true?

Someone turned to me and asked "How many friends do you have?" Why 10-20 friends I believe and began naming a few......A blessed one you are to have so many friends but think of what you are saying. A friend is a hand to pull you up from darkness and despair..... When all your other so called friends have helped to put you there. But most of all a friend has a true heart from the hearts of friends, there comes the greatest love of all. After much thought I answered I really only have one and that "YOU!" A Friend is always special because friends love you just because you're "YOU!"

I completely agree with this statement. Throughout my life I've had many people that I thought were my friends only to find out later that they won't be there for you when you really need them. I have just a very select friends that I would consider to be my true friends. These are the people that lent me their shoulder to cry on when I lost both my father and my daughter through miscarriage. These are the people that I feel like I can ask anything of and never be shrugged off. These are the people that I love.' Yes, I've got many acquaintances, but the friends that I have are the most important.

I agree with you on this 100%. i would also add that you don't need to talk to that person everyday, because there are times when you need them the most and your true friends will always be there no matter the distance in between. You always know who your friends are when you are flat on your back...so yes, we have to treasure our friendships.....

Yes,i think it is ture, but your question make me rise another issue, that is "what is the meaning of true friend?" ,to me ,there are two characters which the friend ought to have.firstly,he never look somebody by their appearance, secondly,i think, the true friends is the one who is not always beside you,but always give you supports and encouragements when you fail in the tests, when you lose the jobs, when you feel lonely, and so on. isn't it? what's your attitude about this?

Friends.....a true friend is someone who is always there for you with an ear, a hand, or anything. They have your back in any situation. Not many people have a true friend. They are few and far inbetween. If you have atleast one then I say to consider yourself lucky. I have 2 and I feel very fortunate to have them both in my life.

I was once told, and still believe that you can count your "true friends" on one hand (meaning less than 5). Now if you have more than 5 true friends, you have truly been blessed. Often we mistake our acquaintences, associates, classmates, coworkers, etc. as friends, when that is not always the case. Unfortunately, alot of people who will say they are your friends, are a bit superficial or only interested in what's in it for them. Your true friends will always be there to support you when you need them, tell you what you want to hear as well as what you need to hear, they will care about your thoughts and feelings, and wish only the best for you. True friends will not be jealous of your success or of what you have accomplished, they will be proud of you and want to uplift and support you. True friends will always welcome you and make time for you and enjoy your company. Your true friends always find ways to brighten your day even with the simplest of things. Cherish your true friends, and let them know how much they mean to you...life is too short not to!

I really agree with this. It seems as we get older that we have less friends or in some cases more I suppose. But what I've noticed is that the friends that you do have become stronger and more reliable.

hi hatley here yes a friend is always special because she' loves me for just being me, and I love her for being who she is. It is unconditional and we will always do whatever we can for each other as we are best friends, and always will be. my best friend calls me every wednesday evening and we chat, she knows the troubles I have and how i really dont want to be here but had no choice. she is a life saver for me and I do so appreciate her.We can be ourselves wih each other and thats so special.

Yes!, true friends are few. True friends will help you when you're in need, will teach you the right thing when you are wrong and will be with you when you need to fight.

A friend in deed is a friend in need. I agree with you that a friend is always special because friends love you just because you are "YOU", but the friends here must be the true friends.

I like this saying a lot! It is very true. Having many friends is not a blessing because for a friend to be real they need to be true. I have also found that someone will be your friend only to help themselves out. I have been hurt many times in the past by someone I thought was a friend only to find out that they were using me for some other motive. A good friend will be there for you when you need them!

Hi there! For me "a real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out, one who is there for me when he'd rather be anywhere else." I have lots of friends but real friend i only have one or two. Good Day!
