Following the Footsteps Of Destiny.....

FATE, Destiny or whatever you call for daily happenings take a firm grip on most of us.We just cannot but be easy and hapless victims of the driving force which seems to be indomitable. What in this world is open for us who are mere puppets on a string in the mighty hands of FATE.Isn't it worthwhile to feel that almost everything is predestined?

Well to a certain extent yes.But if you know that you are destined to be a loser you can definitely fight it out and become a winner. If you give in to your destiny you are surely a goner.

I understand we cannot help feeling being victims of play by the almighty. So in a way it might be worthwhile to feel that almost everything is pre-destined just to make our mind feel easy and our souls comfortable. If I am in a rebellious mood, I would not think it is worth thinking so. I believe we can overcome our destiny as we reap what we sow.

I think alot of our life is predetermined. I also think we can make some changes towards our destination along the way though. We have to look for the positive things and build on it no matter what.

I give only 20% to destiny and rest are our efforts...many things go wrong and not as expected by us...but we can change them to some extent and accept to some degree...and life can be made worth living ....we can struggle to change the unfavorable conditions and thus make ourselves happy....being happy is always not in very good things, but you can be happy in finding happiness in not so good things too....try to be happy and have positive attitude...u wont have time to blame the destiny...

I believe that certain things are mapped out for us, but as a Zen practitioner, I believe the challenge is to detach from such karma. And when we are experiencing that which we feel is fated and can do nothing about, we just need to contemplate our predicament and accept it. In Zen it is through acceptance that we reach a state of detachment, that is OK to be not OK, so to speak. And then we are in a position where we can re-create what we want because of the negation of our karmic ties. If that makes sense. - Derek

I don't like the idea that everything is predestined. What's the point of living a life that is already mapped out. We have freedom of choice but what use is that if whatever choice we make leads to the same predestined outcome.

Nope, I am a firm believer in personal choice and making a difference in your own destiny, especially your eternal destiny!

Till a point in life I used to think Destiny is nothing, its only what we make it. How we work towards everything, how we think, makes us the destiny. But It is not completely true, according to me. I believe there are certain forces, that just make us puppet to life. After facing so many bad things, unlucky situations in life, I am in strong belief, that whatever good i do, However hard I work, life will never treat me well. My supposed to be first onsite travel just got cancelled at last moment, but not for others who were supposed to travel with me. They got it. The authority ha shown no reason, not my fault. They just thought they can cancel my trip for knowledge transfer, but at the end I will be doing all the work. The persons who went there, had knowledge transfers, they just came back and never gave any knowledge transfer to me. That person used to stay away from office and I was forced to do all work of myself plus what was supposed to be done by him. Then also they never considered I should go there to take KT if I am to do work. what will you say it? my fault? I do not think at all. it is just my bad luck. all times all bad things happen to me.

I wrote an article about destiny and coincidences a while ago and in it I did note examples of occurrences that happened to people and which appeared more than mere flukes. I tend to believe that there is a major thread in our lives that is predetermined, some things are just ‘meant to be’ but because we were all given the gift of free will we can certainly alter our direction at any given time although in my opinion, our destiny will eventually catch up with us, if not in this life time, maybe the next one but it will find us.

I really do not believe in fate. I believe that we were given free will by God to make our own decisions. and sometimes, we make very bad decisions and have to live with the consequences. I believe that life is a journey and we are taught so many lessons but real life begins when we enter eternity and experience life as it is meant to be. I do respect your point of view though and this is just my view.

Wow, this is deep. Are you friends with Krajibg? This discussion reminds me of something he might have posted.

Predestiny is an illusion. Freewill is the norm. Quantum physics proves this. Nature is unpredictable. Time is even an illusion.

I believe strongly in the steps of fate. If the world was to end tomorrow I would believe that we couldn't have in any way stopped it. It is true we shape our own future and I think a more suitable definition of fate is how you end. Everything up till then is yours to shape. Fate is how you choose to end you time. So I believe in fate and your own driving in the car of life

I do believe in destiny, but I do believe that we cannot change our life unless we are the one who changed it. That's why we don't know our destiny, if we know, we will do nothing about it, and wait for it to come. We are the one who created our own destiny. We have many choices in life, and along the way, we make mistakes, but we will learn and earn something. That's why we need to work hard to chase what ever we wanted to be.

I would be really depressed to think that almost everything is predestined. Wouldn't it make us all feel pretty useless to learn that nothing we did mattered? What if we worked somewhere where everyone received the same pay...no matter if they worked hard, or took coffee breaks all day. Who then would continue to work?
