What are the themes of the rooms in your house?

A lot of people--arguably most people--have themes that they try to incorporate in the rooms of their house with decorations and even furniture, art, etc. that go along with this theme. For example, my mom turned her and my dad's bedroom into a beautiful oriental themed room with fans, Oriental screens, art, vases, etc. When I was younger I used to want a rainbow house. I've always loved varieties of colors and thought that if I had seven rooms I could paint, I'd paint them in the colors of the rainbow and decorate with just those colors. But when my husband and I saw the house that we ended up buying, I had a new idea. With four main rooms upstairs (a living room, kitchen, and two bedrooms), I decided to decorate each room according to one of the main seasons. It ended up that our kitchen is summer, our living room is autumn, our gaming room (one of the bedrooms) is winter, and our bedroom is spring. They even go in order if you look at our rooms counter-clockwise. :) Including the downstairs, though, we still have at least one room painted in one of the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white and black. So either way, I still have a rainbow house. :) What about everyone else? Do you have themes for your rooms? If you do, does your entire house go by the same theme or does it differ by the room?

I think in my house, things tend to come in and stay. They make up the themes and it´s always a mixture of what I have, what I want and what I can afford. But what everyone sauys is that my house is a comfortable place to visit. Noone is worried about a stain in the mantelpiece or something that falls on the floor. They go to the kitchen, bring a paper towel, and do the best they can. There are many things that I have brought from my trips, several oil paintings that are expensive, a persian rug (my brother´s gift) plus some hideous presents that my children and now my grandchildren have made with their own hands. All are equally important although I ask my youngest grandson not to race cars in the rug, but in the floor Take care ands happy posting

We don't really have a central theme for my house, but I try to keep my room as an all-white room. White walls, carpet, furniture, etc. It looks very simple and modern, and I love how any color pops against the white setting.

I love modern decorating. It definitely is very simplistic and beautiful. Color truly does pop in that kind of setting, I agree! My only problem with that would be all of the white...as I was growing up I was never allowed to paint my room anything, it was always white. Our house always had white walls. Color makes me FEEL things so I grew up hating white because it was so bland to me...I'd buy tons of colorful decorations just to cover up the walls. Now the only white in our house is the ceilings...and even that I wish I could change! It sounds very beautiful, though! Do you decorate all of your rooms in a modern way or just that room?
