A Call to Unity Among We the People of the United States

I know many of us disagree, some of us most of the times...some of us even disagree in not very friendly ways. However...
This situation with HR 3200 (The healthcare bill) has proven something to the world. Most people have given up on our whole process. They say that Washington never listens to us anyway, so why bother. Others have said that Washington only listens to special interest groups, the "rich" or the powerful.
Well, Washington wanted this bill rushed through and on Prs. Obama's desk before the August recess. Obama blames the Congressional Republicans for getting in the way, but there aren't enough of those to be so much as a speedbump on the way to the Oval Office.
The ONLY reason it isn't passed yet is the pressure We the People put on our elected officials.
It wasn't "The rich", "The Powerful" or "Special Interest Groups", it was ordinary people calling their Congressmembers and Senators, asking them why they aren't "reading the bill".
We need to keep this up! The issue, bill, politician or the little letter after their name. Whether or not you support or oppose universal healthcare, your Congressmember or Senator, or Political Party.
The problem isn't any of those things. The problem is, people in Washington have been allowed to become comfortable because We the People let it happen.
Never again!
When you want to voice your opinion on something specific.. call them. When they have a "town hall meeting", show up. When they say something on tv, radio, in the news or anywhere else, offer your input directly to them or their offices.
Politicians had no idea how to handle the number of people showing up to the recent town hall meetings. They are used to the same trickle of the same people time after time after time.
Some of them have hated it, but I know for a fact that many of them loved it. We can show both who is "The highest office in the land".
For once, the people have stood up to be heard. Yes, some of them chose to be an embarrassment, but not the vast majority. We are proving that we are not to be ignored or dismissed.
So who's with me? Who of us are willing to take our voices from the 1s and 0s of MyLot and put our rhetoric where our mouth is... and where their ears are?

This isn't about the healthcare bill. This is about what speaking out about the healthcare bill proved.
It proved that We the People can make a difference. We can make them listen, slow down and take our input before rushing through things.
It disproves the old complacent attitude that we don't matter.
If we didn't matter, this bill would already be law, which means, We did effect the way Washington works. We made it far from "business as usual".

True, and now look at how Obama is lashing out at some of the very people who got him elected? To him, it isn't enough to just vote for him, you have to worship him.
((((Yes, sarcasm was appreciated))) :~D

Gives ya goose bumps doesnt it?
I have been very excited about the level of involvement and the excitement that citizens have displayed through this. I hope people stayed fire up. We are finally telling our elected officials that if they do not work for us, they do not work at all.

Although things started out pretty rough, I've been thrilled to see so many folks getting up off their butts and getting involved. There's been too much apathy out there...too many folks believing that their voices don't matter when it comes to the people they put into office. I've never been shy about contacting my state and local reps. You may only talk to a staffer when you call...your email may not be read by who it was intended for...but your opinions, concerns and suggestions are noted and they do add up when lots of folks are giving input.

The last thing I saw that "we" the people did by getting off their collective butts was give us President Obama
