How many people screen their telephone calls?

When wee get a telephone call (we have a caller ID box) that we don't know, we will not answer. We also have a message that tells people to leave a message with their name, phone number and a short message. People do not leave many messages. We are not always available to pick up the phone so why don't people leave messages? I might sound awkward on the phone leaving messages for others but I will leave a message if no one answers. How about you do you leave messages on the phone of do you just hang up?

We have both Caller ID and an answering machine. If I know who it is and feel like talking, I pick up the call. If I don't know who it is and don't feel like talking, then I let the machine get it. Most ppl will leave a message but there are some that simply let the machine pick up and then they hang up...and then call right back...that irritates the crap out of me. I sometimes just hang up if it's not important I can call back but usually I leave a message if I call more than once and nobody is there or it's important and I'm too lazy to try again screening phone calls, well I wish I could I don't have that feature or else I would have blocked a lot of numbers most calls we get are telemarketers or pranks I let my voicemail answers for that reason those people that don't leave messages to you could be pranksters so it's a good thing that you don't answer it I'm sure people will leave message if they mean well or probably come visit you instead

If i do not know the number or name that comes up on our caller id, i do not answer the call, we have voice mail that will take the call for them to leave a message. if they do not leave a message i do not return a call. If i call someone i always leave a message because i would like them to call back when they can.

I leave messages if it's important. I have a pet peeve about people calling cell phones with the identity/number blocked; I think it's rude. I never answer cell phone calls from unidentified numbers; I rarely pick up even if the number does show up but it's a number my cell phone's address book doesn't recognize--if it's important; I assume people will leave a voicemail and I would call back if it's someone I know. If someone calls me with the identity blocked *and* fails to leave a voicemail, I can safely assume the person was not that interested in talking to me and was probably a telemarketer, a wrong number or just some creep.
