For Those Who Write On Associated Content

Yeah, I have a question...It's something that has been bugging me for awhile and I've looked all over Associated Content and haven't found the answer to my question which is: Say you come across an article and maybe you might want to read it again or refer to it at a later time. Well I've noticed that there is no "save as favorite" type feature. I do read quite a number of articles there of my fellow AC writer friends and if there is an article someone has written on a topic I like, I have to wrack my brain trying to remember who the heck wrote it, either that or go to the profile content pages of my friends and go through their long listings of all the articles they've written which frankly takes forever. I could print up the articles I like but frankly don't want to use up too much of my ink. Does anyone else get a tad annoyed that one can't "save as favorite" for an article they like and want to come back to? I suppose I could bookmark the articles but yikes I have so many bookmarks as it is

I am a member of associated content, but not very active. Submitted a limerick once. I dont think there is a favourite button on associated content. But I might have a solution. Keep some post-its on the computer desk, and jot down the names of writers you want to get back to. I know it seems old fasioned, but it might just work.

LOL--i don't need to write out post-its...one can add a favorite writer to their list and get email notices of when they write articles...its more the individual article I would like to save instead

Ok now, I am NOT computer savvy in the least, haha, but I have a suggestion. I don't know if this would help at all but I'm trying at least. Sometimes when I want to save something, and my favorites list is probably like yours, I copy and paste the address into a word document just to have it with a little note next to it. Does that help at all?

Yup--I realize I could do that, but I just sure wish they have a 'favorites' section right on the site itself since many other websites have that feature Besides I have so many folders, favorites, bookmarks I'm going bonkers...LOL

The best solution I think is to print the articles. That way you have access to them any time. Would you be using that much ink? You could possibly print them as "drafts" and the printing would be a tad lighter, but use less ink. The other good idea is adding favorite articles to your "Favorites." Do you categorize your favorites? It would be easy to make article folders and categorize them: "ARTICLES -- ANIMALS," "ARTICLES -- RECIPIES" and so on. I know you'll come up with a way you like.

I really don't like printing up to much...buying ink can often be a "luxury" when on SSI benefits. As for the "Favorites" idea...I think what you're suggesting is what my computer labels as "Bookmarks"---as it is I have so many Bookmarked Websites it's not funny and one day need to clean it up a bit--gee that should be exciting...

Will it allow you to save the articles to flash drive, or have it sent to your email where you can put it into its own folder?

Yes there is a "save" feature in which one can email the article link...but I'd rather they had a "favorites" section right on the website itself one could refer to

I don't know. Seriously saying. I'm a member of them - get revenue from them, but tried to log in and apparently I'm not me with them. So asked to reset the password to my account and they're saying 'works just fine on my end' so great - still can access my account so sorry to say can't help you. Associated Content? sorry they haven't and REFUSE to help me log into my own damnn account.

I was over there before I was ever on here I think, but that was over a year ago. Was going to log in to check my account - they said you log in just fine here and your account still active, but they won't help reset my password. So, whatever? IDK.

I think the only way to save the article is through outside sources like "my Favorites" on the explorer tool bar. Maybe they will add that feature, but with all the computer glitches they are having I wonder if that is a good idea. LOL

I don't have IE since I have a Mac computer so we have "bookmarks" instead...I would rather they had a section at the website itself (AC) to save favorite articles.

I couldn't find this discussion. I did ask and they said on the bottom of the AC screen there is a save feature. You don't actually save the article to your computer it is sent to your email accout and then you can save it. I guess the site isn't technologically advanced enough yet to save articles yet. LOL

It doesn't bother me that they don't have a "save as favorite" function. If I should ever run across something I want to save, I bookmark it. Once or twice a month, I sort through my bookmarks and delete those I no longer need and organize the ones left. If I didn't do that, I'd eventually have the entire internet bookmarked!

Ok, I have no solution for you that others haven't already mentioned but I do have an idea of why Associated Content would rather have you save the favorites on your own computer (hence, the email solution they offer). I suspect they don't want to give you extra room on their computer storage site for your personal use. They'd rather have you use your own storage (cheaper for them). Of course, this isn't as convenient for the user. What other writing sites do this? Just curious. I'll be anxious to see how AC responds to your request. Just don't hold your breath.

Open a new folder and put all the AC links in it. They'll all be in one place and take up less room in your bookmarks list.

I have not been over there is so long I have forgotten what the site looks like. After they started changing the site it started to be a bit harder to get around, among other things.

I write for them, but I guess have never come across an article that was so great that I'd want to read it again or save it for any reason. I have a few authors I like to follow what they write and a few fans, but other than that..I don't have the need for a "favorites" option. YOu might want to contact them with that suggestion.

Isn't bookmarking sort of the same thing as 'saving as favorite' lists? What some one needs to invent is a better bookmarking system. One were you could 'search' for content, date or source...or a combination those. We can do it now, but it's a long, tedious process. Some one could devise one that's more intuitive.

Well like I said my bookmark list is so outrageously long...maybe one day I would do nothing else but go through them and see if I can "clean" my list up and eliminate a lot...gee that'll be "exciting"---not. It's just that I've noticed many other websites one belongs to do have a "save as favorite" feature and section

If I had 'save as favorite' lists at a bunch of websites, I'd probably forget which site has whatever it is that I'm looking for. I have a hard enough time trying to remember where I set my glasses... My bookmark list has gotten huge too, and no matter how hard I think about organizing it...it doesn't seem to want to get itself done...lol. Now, if I could hilight it, and sort by source, subject, etc., it would be a breeze. At least all my 'lists' would be organized in one place.

Mmmm..what kind of browser do you use...while I have Safari (Mac) I mainly use Firefox...I was just looking at my bookmarks, there is a gizmo that says "new folder" so I would imagine maybe one could drag and drop the bookmarks into a specific labeled folder...I'll have to see if it can be done that way

You could just make a folder named Associated Content and then create a new text document inside the folder. Copy and paste the links/URL to your favourite article in the text document. This does not take too much space on your hard disk. Use your creativity to name and organize the text documents.

Yes I realize I could do that, but I wish they had a feature of "save favorites" on THEIR site as many other sites have that feature...

I agree that they should have this feature. However bookmarking will have to do for now since they dont have this feature. I know that I also have several articles from other authors that are some of my favorites and its hard to find them when I need to look at them. Maybe you should write to associatedcontent with the idea.
