i GAVE MY DOG A BATH THIS MORNING. i HAD TO HAVE MY TUB TAKEN OUT & A WALK-IN SHOWER PUT IN BECAUSE I COULDN'T STEP INTO the tub well w/out the fear of falling. So now to give my dog a bath i put her in the shower w/me, lol. will have to admit i have had more exciting shower partners,. What is so funny that i take a shower every day of course but some way she can tell when it's her time. I have to literally drag her in there but she is very good when i get her there thank heavens because it does my back no good at all. How do y'all get your dog a bath?

I give mine a bath when they absolutely need it LOL And, not before either:) but, sounds like you did a great job. I don't think you should expect more unless you bath her every day when you shower. If she is small enough? put her in your sink???? As to the shower partners-------------understood :) Good luck, quita88

I didn't know at the time of that response that your dog was a cocker spaniel !! Don't blame you for not bathing her every day :) Both of my dogs are middle sized to big---both are very overweight LOL, just like me :)

We have two dogs. One of them is a corgi mix and the other is a black and tan coonhound, so needless to say, we have to give them baths in two totally different ways. For our Corgi, my daughter (six-years-old) usually takes her in the tub with her and washes her while she is taking a bath. The Corgi, Jasmine, is actually my six-year old's dog. The two of them are inseperable. I can't believe that Kathryn takes her dog in the tub with her, but it works and Jasmine behaves a lot better that way than when I would try to wash her from the outside of the tub. Michela, my black and tan, does not get in the tub, she is just too big. We bathe her on the deck with doggie shampoo and the hose. We keep her on the leash so she doesn't run out into the yard. She deals with it pretty well, but trying to bathe her in the tub is an absolute nightmare.

We give our dog a bath in the tub. He gets his bath about once a month, though he needs it more often. He hates bath time, however he minds well. He will come into the bathroom and get into the tub all on his own but it is with much hesitancy and 'woa is me' looks. He puts up with his bath and rinse, then gets out of the tub on his own. Getting him to not shake until he is on the porch is the big problem for us.

My kitchen sink is ENORMOUS and i own 2 english cocker spaniels. We put them in the sink and use the foucet hose thing with dog shampoo. we then put them on the floor with a towel and they will roll around and get all tangeled up. Easy as that!

All you need to do is put your dog on a leash, tie them up and do it quickly. Dogs can hold grudges so be careful

Oh that takes me back.... I haven't had a dog for about 6 or 7 years now, but I used to get wetter than the dog at bath time. I am sure my friends would be horrified to learn that I used to bath the dog in the family bath. I had to use real strong-arm tactics to get her in there, and once in she would look at me like 'well, you did it again - what now?' She was very stubborn when it came to be 'dunked' and was under caution NOT to shake herself, but inevitably I would end up soaked to the skin, covered in suds and wet dog hair... In the end I used to dress in just a pair of swimming shorts resigned to the fact that I was going to get at least as wet as the dog. I would then have to carry her downstairs in a towel (which was then thrown away...) and release her in the garden at which point she would go absolutely nuts and run round the garden at close to 70mph... in circles. I would be picking dog hairs off me for the rest of the day.

I miss her every day, but now we have a less furry two-legged daughter instead - she's a little less trouble in the tub, but a little more argumentative...

I've had to give my dog a bath that way before. Right after some surgery that prevented me from bending a lot. Once a month is when I give Sherlock a bath, unless he gets into something outside that is really foul. Because his flea and tick medication is supposed to be put on his coat once a month, he has his bath the day before it is time for that. I put him in the tub, and I kneel down beside it. It's pretty easy for me. Not comfortable, but easy.

Sounds like group showers can be a challenge! LOL...when I had my dog I used to put him in the tub....or sometimes in the kitchen sink where I had a sprayer....that was a little easier but much messier.......since he fought most of the time!

We don't have a dog any more, but when we did, we gave them baths in the back yard with the hose. Now as for the cats, if we need to give them a bath, the first step is to make sure that we have bandaids!

They don't although I have learned a new way to bathe them that doesn't freak them out so much. You put them in just enough water to get their feet wet and wet them with a brush starting with their tail and working your way up. Works so much better than just immersing them!

I'll bet thats fun. Lol!!! I dont have a dog but when i did they got a weekly baths. I have manx cats now. They dont have tails. For some reason Bubba Kat gets dingleberries. I sometimes have to give him a sits bath. Just his hide quarters. I fill the bathroom sink. When he is no where around. Because if he hears me filling it when he is there, he is gone ina split second. Then i go get him. I have to hold him by the back of the neck so he cant get away. By this time he already knows whats coming. Then i dunk his hinnie in the water to loosen the dingleberries. He is purring while im doing this but yet acting like im drowning him. And the only part getting wet is his hind part. He is so funny. He clings the edge of the sink like im killing him.

We give our dog a bath in the bathtub. It kills my back all bent over like that though. We give him a shower with us also sometimes. there is not much room to do so though. Someone also has to be there to get him out so I can dry off too though.

when my late dogs were alive, i used to put one in a little tub that was placed in the shower. i turn the warm water on, and let the dog get wet under the shower. i shut the water. i use a natural, no more tears puppy shampoo, and lather the whole body with some shampoo, making sure to get all the area, like butt, between legs, feet, tail, etc. i leave that lather on the dog for 5 minutes. then i rinse all the soap off the dog's body. i run my hands on the pets fur to see what it feels like, if it still feels dirty or it feels clean. sometimes, i lather once, and sometimes i lather twice, it depends on the dog's hair. then, i take the dog out of the tub with a towel wrap around the body. i place the dog on another towel, opened on the floor. and i towel dry for a while, trying to dry as much as i can by towel first. i make sure to dry the ears, especially inside, with a paper towel. i comb the dog fur with a dog comb, making sure there is no tangles. then, i turn on the hair dryer, and brush the dog's fur, as i blow dry the fur, making sure to get all the area of the dog's body. my late dogs used to enjoy the hairdryer. it relaxed them. the bath relaxed them too, because the felt cleaner and happier. they used to jump up and down after a shower, and roll all over the carpet, playing together. if it is winter, i put a little doggie sweater on them or doggie blouse.

Hello, Growing up as a kid my parents had a small yorkie and it was super easy to give him a bath . They would give him a bath in the kitchen sink and it would take all of 5 mins . Then they would towel dry him some and then let him dry off himself . If it was the winter and colder then they would blow dry him some . Now that I am older I have a dog and when she was little I would give her a bath in the kitchen sink as well ... Now that she is big I give her one in the bath tub upstairs and sometimes will turn the shower water on to get it done faster but she is really easy to give a bath too . In the summers I just use the hose and it is a piece of cake!

mine seems to know also. your just like me with that. i've been taking mine in with me even tho i have to bend over to rinse her, etc. i have to scout her out, as she hides and figure a way to get her come to me. after she always feels happy, and frisky so i dont know why she dreads it so.

I have German Shepherds. They've both been trained to stand with their front paws up on a chair and their back paws on the ground while I pour water from a bucket all over them. Then I'll shampoo them while they're standing up on the chair so I can get under their stomachs and under their legs properly. Then I'll use a hose attached to the laundry taps so I can use warm water to hose them down to rinse the shampoo off properly. When they're washed, I'll rub them all over with a towel and then brush them a lot to be sure they look great.
