Hi Chaitra, Thanks for coming first this time. You know I had doubts that whether I will get any response because the topic was 'Yoga' and many are not interested to discuss about the same. Second thing, usually when I start a discussion I got the first response within minute or sometimes within five minutes and this time it took one hour (lol). But I am happy, so far I got 19 replies, it is good. Coming to the topic, I also heard the same thing explained by you that is the reason for my interest to yoga in school. I wish to send my kids for yoga but it is not available in near place where I am residing. I told the same to my hubby too if yoga is available in school it will be a great thing. Hopefully my dream may get fulfill in near future. Than you very much for the positive response dear. Have an excellent day.

Hi Chaitra, It is good to know that you have planned to join yoga. Please do it. I can't do the same because it is not available near to our place and in morning I am busy with kids too. Please inform the developments about your program.

I think we need to teach physical fitness in school and Yoga is as good as anything to promote this. But it wouldn't go over well here in America where they are cutting programs like music, physical education and the like. Our schools are a mystery to me--they cut down on students' education yet pay supervisors and principals $100,000 or more per year. Some schools even have several principals.

Hi Sree! I have not come acroos the news, however, it is a healthy news that Yoga will be taught as one of the compulsory subjects in schools from the next academic year. I think Yoga can do wonders for the students and it will not only make them physically fit but they will become healthy also, as far as their mental strength goes and I understand that practising Yoga will help them fight diseases, as their immunity level may go up.

Hi deepak, You are exactly right and thank you for sharing the benefits of yoga. The news was published in daily Times of India. Actually they have a plan to introduce the same from Class VI onwards. In my opinion they can start from the primary level, at least from the class I. Let us wait what they are going to do. Have a nice day.

Hi and smile. I think its good action for the school to include yoga in the class curriculum. I know it will be a great help for maintaining physical and mental health of young students. What i observe today is that most people are indulge in unhealthy lifestyle habits. I am sure parents would like it. Happy mylotting and smile always!

Hi lucky, First of all I am happy to know that you are a lucky person. Secondly congratulations for crossing 1000 mark. Regarding the subject 'yoga' I am happy with your positive reply. I agree with you now people are leading an unhealthy life style especially kids are sitting in front of the TV and watching cartoon channels. They are also addicted with junk foods. Children are not getting chances for outdoor games which will provide physical exercise. So there is the importance of Yoga. But I disagree with your statement; parents would like the unhealthy lifestyle. As a parent I don’t like if my kids lead an unhealthy life style. I am not providing them junk foods, not allow them to sit in front of TV for long time. Thank you very much for your participation. Have a nice day.

It is good for health but it is their wish to join.We should not force them to join ,first we have to tell the advantages of YOGA and let them get interested and join. Then they will learn with enthusiasm,if we force them they will get bored of it and whole spoils.

Yoga is good it calm the mind..it teach discipline and self control..it is the way to exercise the mind like getting to uses brains in doing good things and be more intelligent. yeah, ii is true children should not be force to join Yoga and it should be their own free choice if they like to join or not..but, better introduce them slowly until they fully like it.

Hi springs, Your point it also a valid one, whether the children like to do yoga. I think introducing yoga is good so that they can decide whether to continue or not. I agree, forcing is not good especially for children. Thanks for your input. Have a nice day.

I'm an admirer of yoga,,It is indeed very good to mental and physical health, It will be very great practising it,, But making it compulsary can be kind of violation of human rights, As everyone can't be so open minded to accept yoga,And they will have many reasons, Social ,physical or mental. So Yoga must be familiarized among everyone ,The ones who like to have that in life can do the same

Hi Eternus, Violation of Human Rights...? I think yoga is very simple and anybody can do without much efforts especially among kids. Introducing yoga is good to them, later they can decide whether it is good or bad. Thanks for joining. Have a nice day.

Yoga is one of the fitness exercises which has no side effects if done in the proper way under the guidance of an experienced teacher. I used to do it regularly but now due to paucity of time I can't.Do you do it regularly. To introduce yoga in schools will be a nice decision so that the coming generation will be physically as well as mentally fit to take the challenges of he new world order.

Hi Cosmo, Yeah, time is the problem with every one. I think yoga should be practiced under the expert initially and I do not get chance for the same. I hope my kids will be lucky to practice yoga under an expert in the field. I am waiting for the same. Have a nice day.

It is high time, that yoga is made compulsory subject in all the schools through out India. I hope none of the Muslim or Christian organizations make a big hue and cry on this. Since Yoga is considered as a Hindu subject. Yoga teaches self control and it has got so many advantages, that even Americans and so many other countries have started using it. It is only in India that Yoga has not been recogonised in a big way. It will be great if it is introduced in all the schools and we should all welcome it.

Hi ramesh, I didn't know that 'yoga' is coming under the Hindu category. I think it is a form of exercise which is beneficial for mental health as well as physical health. I don’t have any information other than that. Thanks for sharing and appreciating Yoga as a compulsory subject. Have a nice day.

It will be good if yoga is taught in all schools. Nowadays children hardly do any exercises and many do not even take part in sports activities but just spend most of their time in front of the television and eat junk food. So yoga will be a good way of exercising for them. And when they practice it at home the parents can also learn the exercises!!!

Hi dear, That will be a great idea to learn yoga from kids; you are really thinking very deeply, hats off to you. Presently kids are very lazy and busy with cartoon channels and hardly get out for outdoor games. I really wish to send my son for practicing yoga but it is not available near our place. Let me wait for sometime, I think that is the only way. Hope you are doing well.

Yes this is not a bad idea considering that children now a days are not having enough work out which is required in there age. they are either sitting in front o the TV, computer o some game classes so this would at least give them some form of exercises.

Hi hireshd, It is a good idea and it enhances the abilities of kids mentally and physically. Now the kids are much interested to sit in front of TV and watching their favorite cartoon channels. They lack physical exercise because they are not involving physical activities like out door games. Yoga will help those kids more. Let us hope the best result. Thanks for joining. Have a great day.

Hi Sreekala, I think yoga is really good for health and mind. And if it is made compulsory then children will feel fresh and pure by heart and mind. They won' be so much tired and get to their studies in a regular way and thus, the output will be great. Because Yoga is always a good for all ages and it reduces stress and keeps one healthy by mind and body. Well, I have launched my new website recently: 'Back Beat' Please do visit once: http://blog.airakesh.com Thanks & Regards, Aira

Hi aira, I have the same opinion, yoga should make compulsory in school but if any child does not like it then they should allowed opting it out. But I hope every child will enjoy the benefits of yoga once it introduced to them. I have visited your blog which is very beautiful and read the stories too. You have done a wonderful work. Have a nice time.

Hi sree Yoga should be a compulsory subject I think. Because it is related to the health and the children should be taught the healthiest way to live and keep the mind and the body in a sound state. It is practised since ages by our respected saints to keep their mind very calm and because of yoga only they can able to live caves for a long time without any diseases and they also lived for a longer periods with robust health. Yoga is an ancient Indian form of medicine which cures so many diseases without taking any oral medicine.

That will be good if yoga will be part of academic subjects in schools. Here in the Philippines, there is one university that has yoga as a subject in Physical Education Course and I think its quite good since yoga will be beneficial to the body of the practitioner. I hope our government can do the same thing to make yoga as part of academics. Not everybody do yoga in my country though there are also many practitioners and its for health reasons.

I love yoga, but I think that they should have other alternatives to choose from. I don't think that it should be forced. If a student doesn't want to learn yoga they will not be able to get the full benefit from it anyway. They should be able to have the opportunity to do something they want to do.

Hi sketch, I agree we can't force the kids to do Yoga but I think introducing yoga to them never give any harm, if they don’t like they can decide it and drop it later. I think the instructor should explain the benefits of yoga and kids will be interested to do the same. Thanks for your input. Have a nice day.

I don’t believe that sport, gym etc should be compulsory although primary school children should definitely be introduced to it and yoga would certainly be very beneficial. In my opinion by the time kids reach high school they should be given the choice of what they like to do; not everyone is sports minded and enjoys it so although exercise should be introduced and encouraged I don’t feel it should be mandatory. Having said that, giving kids the opportunity to learn yoga is a great idea if they want to do it.

Hi Paula, I agree with you, yoga should be beneficial to kids especially in primary class. I also don’t feel to force them but giving an introduction to kids about yoga is good and let them have their choice later on whether to practice it or not. If it starts from the primary level it can make more disciplined kids. Thanks for joining. Have a nice day.

Yes I think thats great too. When I was young and in school we had a wonderful teacher who made us do yoga everyday and it felt just great. I think more sports should be made compulsory in schools in India as it is so important that kids get out, be in the fresh air and channel their physical passion.

Hi sritrinity, I think yoga is one of the sports which won’t give any danger to kids. In Indian schools even horse riding is included in sports. I don’t know the benefits of learning horse riding in school. Yoga can keep the kids fit mentally and physically. I do hope the decision will implement in school at the earliest. Thanks for joining. I've only done yoga a few times in my life and just from those few experiences I think having it in school would be a really good thing. It will give the children time to relax and feel at peace when if you think about it, especially for teenagers, peace is something that is rarely part of their lives. As well as it would be giving them physical excersize at the same time. I think it would be a great idea.
