Do u think ban on psychotic drugs has really helped in reducing their usage?

I think it is human tendency to be curious about something that we are told not to do. Especially, since it doesnt seem to be as grave a sin as a murder or rape. Children are lured towards it because they have heard somethings about it and want to know whether it is true. Adults start on such drugs to prove that they can withstand it - an ego trip. In this scenario, if drugs were sold openly with simultaneous indications of what can happen in process - do u think it would deter people from taking them?
