My Husband's Transmission Went Out!

Music.... Lost In Thought - This is my Music. I caught him on the love seat staring into space like he's lost in thought.

My husband had inherited his step dad's truck earlier this year and some monetary inheritance. Not much but some for there's 5 kids in his family including him. However, to help my parents out, my brother gave my dad a very small fishing boat and was going to give it to my husband but hubby didn't want to take it without paying for it so he gave dad $1,100. for it. He's towed it around a few times as well as his trailer with wood. A friend of his had told him that once he gets going on the road to turn off some switch for towing and it'll save on gas or something, I don't know exactly for I'm not a mechanic. The engine light kept coming on so hubby finally took it to a dealership to have it checked out and they did some work on it and supposedly it was fixed but then the light came back on again so hubby returned it to the dealership and come to find out, it was the transmission! What hubby's friend had told him was not right at all. When towing something, he's to have that button for towing turned on at all times because it sends more transmission fluid to something.... and cools the transmission down and because it wasn't on when he did the towing, it burned up his transmission! BUT, there's an upside to this, thank God!! It's still under warranty!! Hubby has to take his truck back next week to have a new transmission put in and all it's going to cost us is $100.!! If the extended warranty wasn't purchased, we'd be up sh!ts creek without a paddle for it would've cost probably around $3,000 to $5,000.!!!! Now how's that for luck being on our side?! After all the hell we've been through last year and this year, it's right nice to have something go our way for a change. LMBO!! Have you ever had a surprise like this happen to you? If so, what was it?

WooHoo!! Hot Damm!! Thats great that you had the warrenty. We once bought a used car, the day after we got it, the water pump went out. It would have been an expensive job, not as much as a tranny. The dealer tried to say it wasn't covered, we read the small print, Hot Damm, it was covered. Maybe lady luck will start being on your side, and you win a certain contest. That will be a big WooHoo.

See the picture of Music Polly? How embarrassing!! It was suppose to be with my other discussion about the snake he caught.... how in the world did it land on here? Go figure.... LOL A boyfriend of mine when I was really young bought a car and about a week or two later, it threw a rod! He needed a new engine and the dealership said the warranty had run out but after fighting with him a little while and threatening to take him to court, he agreed to pay for half. As for hubby's truck, I don't know what we would've done if it weren't covered under warranty! We'd not have a truck for a long long time, that's for sure! Thanks Polly, I hope I win that contest too!! It will help my parents so much!!

I am glad that it was under warranty! That would have been a real mess. I am glad things went your way.

Your luck seems to be changing and that is awesome. I get worried when there is a switch to be on sometimes and off sometimes and shift to this at this speed and there at that other speed. I am glad he was able to drive it to the dealership to find out what was wrong.

Definitely a good thing that he purchased that extended warranty! And only $100 to get it fixed? You can't beat that at all! Right now our truck is acting up and it has been for a couple of months. And hubby was thinking along the lines of it being the transmission too. But he finally had a friend of his put it on the scope and come to find out it's one of the coils that's causing all the ruckus....a $45 part! And hubby can fix it himself so we won't have to put it in a shop and pay all those lovely extra fees that they like to charge. I'm so glad it's something easy for you to deal with hon. Lord knows you've been through more than enough and it's about time something good happened for you. HUGS!
