Neo-Nazi Conference in My City Today

I am just flabbergasted, astonished. Yes, right here in my little city, and it's happened before, several years ago. That ended tragically when the KKK decided to arrive on the scene. There were shootings and some people were killed. That was probably 25 or 30 years ago. Will people never learn. When asked why these chose to meet here, they (The National Socialist Community), responded by saying that this was a good "central east coast location". Coincidentally, we are opening a Civil Rights Museum downtown in February. This is also home to a renowned black university. Coincidence? I don't think so. What drives people like this? I guess I just don't understand the kind of hatred that makes you just want to go after strangers and stir up as much trouble and unrest as you can. What, in the end, do they think they are accomplishing? Few of us in this community feel any sympathy or camaraderie with them. This is a diverse city. There were people who said they would go down and protest. It's sad.

I don't know what drives these folks, but whatever it is, it isn't good I hope that nothing bad happens while they are there, especially to innocent bystanders. Mobs can get ugly and then they don't care who, or what, they hurt

We can hope and offer a few prayers for safety. Those of us that have peace and safety need to appreciate it. I see several posts here about disturbing communities.

And you know, this really isn't a disturbing community, overall. That's what is so strange about this. We have this really inviting, somewhat bohemian downtown, with theatres, clubs, restaurants, antique stores. It's hard for me to imagine this being open to such a group of haters.

WHAT?! omg! That's sooo stupid! I don't get why the government actually ALLOWS this? I mean they are basically like terrorists. they are criminals, they kill and beat innocent civilians because of their race! It's a HATE crime, it's like allowing raplsts to meet in a national raplst club and they go out and r@pe ppl. It's the same thing! And the government KNOWS they have the club, they KNOW what they do, they KNOW they do all this stuff and yet WHY do they allow them? this blows my mind.

The world is getting too small for this kind of thing, and we're all getting so close together.

The constitution allows anyone to gather... I do know some UTTER haters that gather... they don't cause problems.. but often times, problems do arise and that's when it becomes a criminal matter. Where I used to live.... (And I am talking in the US, just four years ago!)a black man could make your lunch. They could pave the road you drive on everyday. But a black man had to QUIT his job at a gas station (which HOUSED that restaurant btw) because some idiots threatened his life. Seriously, what's the effin difference?... I hate the color yellow. I hate yellow cars.. and yellow houses and yellow shirts and yellow skirts... I think most people shouldn't wear yellow. I hate it... but that doesn't mean I will hurt someone because of it. Catch 22.

I think some people take a perverse kind of delight in being able to just really tick people off, or get under their skin. What is scary is that instead of it being a perverse individual your city is dealing with it is a perverse and twisted organization. They are coming there because they know that it really does disturb and upset people there.

You know I am all for freedom of religion and speech how ever I don't think this applies. If there were a group of any other religion doing the kinds of things the KKK is doing they would be under the jail. As individuals and as a community until we stand together and say enough is enough they will continue forever.

It's very sad that this still exists in our country today. Sad indeed. Yet we are losing our freedoms everyday... they are the ones who will be protected. It's a very sad state we live in!
