Anyone listen to it and come away sane that is? LOL The 22:18 version. I listen to it maybe every six or seven months and zoom in something I had forgotten. I enjoy it so much. The movie version is one I had to get and have my daughter listen to after she heard the tape of it one time. I recall panhandling for the money to go see the movie verson. Well worth the effort I might add. So, is there any of 'the oldsters' who remembers it, enjoyed it, and still makes an effort to listen to occasionally? And I listen to the YouTube video lastnight of an exerpt of his video about him bringing in a couple of keys at the L.A. airport. What a guy!

ya, I turned my daughter on to it when she was about that same age. She loved it. How can you not! We need to bring that stuff back and get this world happy again! That was a monumental time. I am proud and happy to have been at an age to have enjoyed all that stuff.

Yeesh can't believe I still remember the words...LOL Yupp--of course I remember the album and the movie and Arlo Guthrie...believe it or not I met him at an old Schaeffer Music Festival at Central Park this was in the early 1970s...he was performing there and after the show I dodged to the backstage area, met him and got his autograph which of course I still have--when I met him, he was uh....stoned out of his mind...LOL

That is way cool friend of mine! I think he's a great soul. Made me laugh about the stoned out of his mind. How funny! Did you partake with him? I was thinking it would almost be cooler to have that memory than the autograph. Huh?

heard the full version once (or maybe it was a live version?) on a radio show about festivals/concert films - they played that followed by the song from Give Me Shelter by the Rolling Stones at Altermont when Jagger starts getting all peace and love with the crowd, telling them to cool it
think I've got the Alice Resturaunt LP somewhere unplayed.
I've got two of his later albums on cd, one has a humourous song about freaking out in a shop/supermarket, a serious song of his is his recording of Adrian Mitchel's song/poem about Victor Jara.

Hon, you need to either rent the movie or go online and catch the song. If it is DRY I am canceling my subscription to the Hippie's Gazette!!!!

Yes I've heard it more times than I could count. It is a traditional Thanksgiving song in our family. Every Thanksgiving, my brother insists that we all pause and listen to the entire song. I only listen to it at that time as a rule unless by chance it happens to play on the radio which is very rare.

He likes Arlo Guthrie a lot and that song was playing one year while he was driving home for Thanksgiving dinner and he said he couldn't get it out of his head and hummed it all the way here....hence the tradition. It was kind of funny as my mother really didn't like it and it goes on & on. She dealt with it with a little grumbling and eye rolling.

That is a great tradition. Your brother must like Arlo or have some reason to like the song. Thanks for your input.

We are all as old as we feel. Time to listen to Arlie and feel young.
