What Is Wrong With My Sinuses? Any Thoughts?

I may be allergic to something, but I don't know what. Lately, every couple of weeks, my sinuses go totally nuts for about five days, and I end up living on Clariten which works to a point, but usually spaces me out...strange, since they're supposedly non-drowsy. I feel relaxed when I've taken one, like the morning after a dose of NyTol Know what I mean?? They work, but I don't feel like doing much, and that's kindof a waste of time.
Anyone have any ideas for a good remedy for sinus problems, and sneezing fits, that won't space me out?

I don't like Clariten because it doesn't do me any good at all. I do like Walmarts brand of Chlor Trimeton which is called Chlor tabs or something like that. The only thing is, it only comes in 4 hour relief where as the name brand comes in either 4 hour or 12 hour relief. It doesn't make me tired or sleepy at all which is why I like it the best out of all of the allergy medicines. Hope this helps!

I can't help. I've been having a lot of sinus headaches. I take Tylenol Sinus which sometimes help, sometimes doesn't. But it's frustrating because they usually last for 3 days at a time. I am limited in options because of my kidneys. I can't take Ibuprofen or anti-inflammatories so Tylenol Sinus is my only option. At least I don't have the sneezing, congestion, and other allergy symptoms. I think mine is probably associated with the weather, though I don't know how.

I tend to take Aerius for kids (im an adult but the liquid form works sooo much better/faster) some ibeprofen and then i end up laying with a warm rice bag on my face for a while. It helps alot. Sometimes i take Sudafed but i dont find it helps me near as much as the other.
I tend to have issues with Clartin it makes me a Royal Witch (change th w to a B) as does cloratriplon, Benadryl knocks me out cold for 12 hours (sleeping aids never seem to do that!),
The only ones that really seem to work without making me have a personality change or fall asleep are reactin,Aerius and sudafed. There used to be one called Saledaine that worked the best but they took it off the market about 10 years ago. I was a very very sad stuffed up chickie when we found that out.

Is there a new food or household product you have just started to use? If not,it could be the change of the season allergy.I live in a city with many trees and I always have sinus problems at the change of the seasons. What to do? The next time you go to the store ask the pharmacist about medicines.there has to be another one which won't make you groggy.

I have this problem ever so often too. I buy the generic brand of sinus and allergy medication from Walgreens here in the United States. It works really well and it does not space me out. It may work for you also.

My sinuses get bad when we have weather change, and last week it was in the 90's this week 60's so I've been miserable. As for the Clariten, I don't like that one but, do you take any other medications? They may be interacting if you do. My son takes a medication that seems to have interactions with several types of medications. I personally like Benadryl and when they are really bad I like Tylenol Cold and Sinus.

Yes I understand that health problem. We have that also in our family, but we never treated it with any synthetic medicine. We have a fruit plant that its leaves we use it to lessen that problem. I just don't know the exact name of this fruit in your place. Besides I am not sure if it can be found there in your country. We the tip leaves of the branches, a younger leaves. We put it on our nose-bridge before bedtime and the following morning your breathing problem would gone already...

Hey, i developed sinus problem a couple of years back and it trigger only when i catch cold or when i'm in a cold region. So, check if it is due tot he climatic/weather change in your place or any new allergent that triggers sinus problem in you.
Popping pills is not the best remedy. Why don't you try inhaling steam of hot water - this will clear all the nasal blocks and also drain the yucky fluid from the sinus areas. If you do this regularly your sinus area will be clear and you can get rid of sinus in a natural way :)
