...So I received a great compliment on my "colorful profile", which made me think of writing this. I've been TRYING to figure out, still, what to do with my life. I am a Mom of three, but they're pretty much grown. I have begun school for Interior Design numerous times but stopped, and was thinking of web design. I am an employee of Walmart, so I have recently thought of even management courses to help with a future at my current employer, yet I love being creative as I have mentioned. Do any of you wonderful mylotters have a suggestion for this gettin' up in age lady?!

First let me say school and age have no corrilation - my Mom graduated from nursing school at the age of 45 then went on to get her masters and bachelor in science. One of my sisters graduated law school at the age of 48. Ok, I'm 54 and still haven't decided what I want to be when I 'grow up'. Just from what I have seen I would suggest you meet with a counclor at the college you are thinking of attending - ask what job possibilities there are and what you would need to do. You can also do online research to see what sort of demand there is for the field and get an idea what the pay is. I would think that graphics design or web design might suit you and last I knew was a demand for people to do that. You don't want to go to school for something only to find out you can't get a job using your knowledge when your finished with school.

Hello byfaithonly! I love what you wrote to me and it excites me to think that I could actually get PAID for doing something CREATIVE with my life!!! I especially love all of the things that you wrote about your family! I guess it makes sense. My focus was on my children for so long and just making sure that they were well loved and taken care of, that it is now time to focus more on myself and on what I would really love to do with my life. Yes, I definitely will have to meet with a counselor in the school and let them know of my desires. I know they will give me proper guidance, and of course so will God! I did get on my knees to pray about it last night, so I truly love that you responded. Thank you so much!

i dont think age is a problem when it comes to schooling, as long as you know how to mingle with different kinds of people. i have a classmate who's 47 already and most of our classmates are 19 and 20.. and i can say that he's enjoying every minute of our class. everbody respects him not because of the age gap but because he can go with the flow.. he's even more updated with the latest music than i do.. one thing i learned about that classmate im talking about is that, when you thought of something that would benefit you and those people important to you and your future.. go for it. getting yourself a bachelor's degree wont hurt you.. it would make your kids be proud of you.

Consult you, what's "gettin'up in age" meaning? Let me show you your face, then let me decide what course is best for you to learn from.It is said that we can decide what course is best for someone just according to their face You are 45,it can be said a embarrassed age,it also can be said a ripe age,it depends. You are almost young or old like my mother. What's your detailed job in Walmart?Could you say it out? You are eager for something creative? Then do something you never did, jump out of you current thinking, think about something which will raise you up

Good advice, aprces. I don't know if I am embarrassed or just upset that I have not done more with my life up to now. If you look at my profile there are two pics of me. I am a young 45, probably even my looks. I am a Sporting Goods associate. I help do the mods, that is set up the new merchandise in the four foot sections, I help the customers and help with anything else I can in the store throughout the day. I can cut a key for a person in the automotive section, I mix paint in the hardware section, I cut the fabric in the craft section and I help at the front end by being a cashier!!! I like your advice and what you said about the face, THANK YOU!!!

I think you should go there is no age limit to learning and I think there is no better time to do so than now you no have no responsibilities. All you need to do is find what you like and when you do that you may just find the impetus to go on and not quit this time

Late is never than nothing remember. Age does not matter when it comes to education as long as you have the interest, potential coupled with determination then I think there will be no problem at all. At your Age, its not yet that too late, find your passion through education.
