Why bother believing in God?

Ok, I agree that's a controversial title, but here's the catchline... Why do you call yourself a Christian? Is it because you believe in God? I have news for you, straight from James 2. Even the demons believe in God...and shudder. To simply believe in God is not enough. Every man and woman in the deepest depths of their hearts believe in God. The Word of God says that every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Where can that confession come from unless it is pre-planted in the hearts of men? Here's my point. If you live your Christianity out of believing in God, you can stop now. You say you are religious! The most religious people of Jesus' day were the Pharisees and Saducees. Here's some more news for you. JESUS HATES RELIGION! What Jesus came to earth to accomplish was to provide a way to redeem the intimate personal relationship that God enjoyed with mankind in the Garden of Eden. God won't let you into heaven because you're a religious person. He wants a relationship with you. That's what He's been telling us for two thousand years now. That is His new covenant with us. It's not enough to believe in God. Live what you believe. I dare you. Dive Deep!

Have to had one thing though...we continuously need God's graces to live his way. ..we can't do it alone...and that's what the relationship is all about.

way to go beauty! I was all set to defend my faith and then I read your challenge and now I'm cheering you on! It's hard to do some days, isn't it? but from my experience, it is worth it, choosing God's way over the world's? I have recently vowed to show my faith to my kids more often too. Last night I prayed with my daughter who was nervous about the first day of school today. For a few nights, she was worrying about it and couldn't sleep. but she didn't complain this time and it was blessedly quiet. thanks for the reminder.

Amen... I think that will preach! By the way your phrase "Dive Deep" did you create that yourself or borrow it from a book? In a series by my favorite author they use that phrase quite a bit. Just curios.

Hi Shewolf... "Dive Deep" comes straight out of Ted Dekker's Circle Saga. Without reservation, my favorite, and sounding like yours too! Elyon's strength! Dive Deep!

Yeah, it's true that demons believe in God. That's why God want's us to believe on Him through our works and deeds. If one consider himself as Christians, but never do the works or act as Christ did(this means on giving, forgiving and loving other people, living a humble life like Christ did on earth) Then he's more like a Pharisees,a false believers who always pray with words but never in deeds. People should be ashamed claiming themselves as Christians if they don't live as Christ live in this world.
