C'mon, how many of you can honestly say you have done it?

I hold my hands up and admit that I am guilty of not having done it and it took me ages to find it too!! . Recently I had a discussion deleted, rather rapidly it has to be said, for not following the mylot guidelines - allegedly! Anyway, I can honestly say that, hand on my heart, I haven't actually read them. When I started here over a year ago I couldn't wait to get stuck in and just thought I would learn as I went. Due to this recent deletion of mine, I thought that maybe the time had come for me to actually read them. Ok well that would be if I could find them. After some solid searching I did find what I was looking for and will make an asserted effort to read them - at some point. Can you honestly say, hand on your heart, that you have read the myLot guidlines from top to bottom? Do you know where to find the guidlines?

As you can see with the number of post i made, I am new here. Yours is over 3000, nearly 4000 but haven't read the guidelines, what then can you expect from me? hehe.. This will be a lesson for me, thanks for sharing it. I need now to check mylot guidelines so i know if i am on the right path as i don't have any plans of leaving mylot anytime soon(should i say deleted from mylot?) Can you tell me where the guidelines are located? lol

Welcome underdogy :) Here you go LOL http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx You can find all the information you need (guidelines, FAQs, terms, etc.) in the links at the very bottom of your screen. They are available to you at all times, no matter where you are on the site so it makes them quick to find. Good luck! :)

Yes I have read and digested them and some bits I spat out as totally undigestable but I tried I now try and explain them to as many others as I can when they seem to misunderstand or misinterpret them. They are not easy to comprehend at a glance but they are not entirely impossible. I know wher to find them - and the FAQs too

I have read the guidelines and FAQ, but I really can't remember if I read them when I first started - probably not. I have to say as well that admin are being pretty quick of the mark in deleting offending posts. I just responded to a post that was just posted by a new user, and I found that it's already been deleted. It can't have been on the site for longer than 10 or 15 minutes! They had included a link to their blog...

I know where to find them. and i've "read" them over.. by read i mean skimmed on occasion when people asked questions about the guidelines and where too lazy to read them themselves. lol. OR if someone started a discussion saying taht such and such was against the rules, then i'd look it up myself.. so no i haven't sat down and memorized them, but so far i dont think i've had any discussions deleted.. but i can't be positive. if i've had one/some deleted i haven't noticed!

well i have no idea if one got deleted or not, i just haven't noticed any deleted.. too bad you can't have a notify of what you did wrong in the discussion or at least notification that its being deleted. Maybe someone reported your discussion as polling.. i think thats in the rules.. something about no polling questions..

Hi there Sissyglr That is pretty good going if you have reached over 5,000 posts and not had a discussion deleted. I had a discussion deleted about what people have on their bedside cabinet and there was nothing in it at all the justified a deletion especailly as it had a lot of responses and was going for quite sometime before it was deleted. Thanks Siss

I have read them, I dont nesacarily remember them all and do go over them every now and again. I do believe they are under the 'mylot tab' but it normally takes me a while to find them. I feel elated when I do find them. I hardly ever start discussions I normally just reply to them and I dont really mind if the discussion gtes deleted if I know I have replied to one thats against the TOS. I have never noticed that I have lost any moeny from deleted discussions but I dont really keep an eye on my earnings anyway. I guess Im just a goody two shoes lol!

Hi ya angelsmummy You are a good girl aren't you? Hahaha If your response got deleted through someone elses discussion you would only lose a matter of cents and probably wouldn't notice anyway!! Now, can you tell me in brief the mylot guidelines so that I don't have to read them at all? haha Thanks

I am a very good gorl lol! Basically make sure you post in English, only have one account, dont post celebrations such as birthdays and milestones, dont ask people for money, dont post jokes or recipes. Its all things like that! Theres so many its hard to know all of them off the top of my head lol. I hope this helps just my little brief overview!

I read them as I ready any guideline I'm searching for certain word or phrases such as if they sell my email addresses etc. That doesn't mean that I read them and it doesn't mean that I know what the guidelines say. Usually the guidelines are so long and boring that is why people don't read them. Why can't they do guidelines in key points, would that not be much easier for all of us.

I can even write it for them or any other company. For starts here is a small outline. Point one, we are going to sell your email address and you inbox will be full by time you hit submit. Point two, everything you write on will be used again you if you can't use it to promote us. Point three, anything you will write or post such a picture of many creative value will automatically become our property. Ok I'm already bored with it. How can these people write such long guidelines. Oh I forgot they are written by the company attorney how gets paid by the letter.

Uhhhhh yeah... guidelines, terms, privacy policy, FAQs... whatever there is, I read it LOL!! Maybe I can redeem myself a little, though, by saying that those types of things relate directly to what I do for a living (elsewhere, not at myLot) and reading them (also reviewing them periodically to see if there have been changes / updates) is something that I truly do out of habit.

I have read them several times. Can't remember much though except: No jokes, No recipes, no flaming, No links, no copyright stuff that isn't the author's etc etc. My only observation is that I sometimes find it hard to accept that inoffensive stuff gets cut and offensive things remain. I do know where they are too. Look down there at the bottom of the page.

Oh wow, I did not know this thing! Does a discussion get deleted even if someone responded against the my-lot rules ? That is really bad, why should the discussion maker suffer due to someone else's post ? I know that we can report the discussion to be against the guidelines, but still members must leave it up to the my-lot people which ones to delete and which ones not. They should not unnecessarily bring small things to my-lot's notice and get that discussion deleted.

All right, I swear there are heaps of people saying they've read the guidelines. I really can't actually believe that. Hand on heart I admit I did not read the guidelines and I would learn as I went. I reckon that guidelines are boring and there is really no point of it, since whatever they usually say in the guidelines like no links, no violation, etc, is common sense.

Hi Humbug, I did read them which makes me realise how many of them are violated, abbreviations in topic headers, people negging others or threatening to because of a disagreement over a viewpoint, people churning out less than one liners with no merit at all, they are broken all over the place. I didn't get round to your discussion so didn't notice it had broken anything, if I think one does I never bother to respond unless one clearly states this is likely to be deleted in get your gripe in now before it is. But the disclaimer of reserving the right to delete anything does, I believe, make a mockery of having any guidelines. Ever since I had a discussion, with many commented on responses I might add, deleted, I worry about the fate of the next one as still do not know a reason why the other one disappeared. I really feel except for the obvious ones which are outlined in the guidelines, such as celebrating milestones, an explanation should be given.

I too have given someone, I totally disgreed with, a BR. Just because I didn't agree with their views it doesn't mean to say that they are wrong and their opinions are also valid!!

Apologies for that Humbug, it's probably an Americanism I've picked up. Negging is of course just giving someone a negative rating, as opposed to the positive rating you are encouraged to give to useful contributions, but not randomly to all contributions, as it states in the guidelines. The negative rating really shouldn't be used and certainly not to floor an opponent with a different view, as this is childish. It was with pleasure today that I gave a best response to the person who I disagreed with entirely on one discussion because he presented his arguement in the best light.

Hmm, when I first joined I did read them but I couldn't honestly tell you what you can and can't do here! I may get cast into nether darkness for mixing American an English spelling, as I am a Brit living in America, but I don't care, I;m KEEPING the U in those words - there was nothing wrong with the u's , America, there was no need to throw them in the harboUr with the tea! :0)

Hi ya EnglishTeaDuck I never worry about my spelling when posting on here as people always know what you mean. I never type mom instead of mum cos that is what I say. I do sometimes include the american word along side the English word so people understand like saying crisps/chips or chips/fries!! I spent some time in the States myself for a couple of years about 15 odd years ago now so it is easy for me to do that but I always include the 'u's!! Cheers English!

In which language is U used instead of O in MOM ?? I think mum is British English, but I am not sure. And yeah people do understand what you are trying to say, so a bit of mixing Brit Eng with American Eng Doesn't matter much!

Hi humbug. I can honestly say that I read the guidelines (at least the discussion guidelines) from top to bottom when I first joined here. Though I sure as hell can't remember them all! And I'm guilty of breaking a few in my time! LOL I can't say the same for everything else, like the terms of user agreement. I just skimmed those! Have you bothered to look it over? Luckily a very kind and gentle friend in mylot told me why that was deleted and I understood there and then. Never had discussions deleted since..

Well lol honestly I only read part of it, but now that my discussions virginity has been broken with my first 2 or 3 deletions I think I will take a second look at the guidelines to make sure I understand them fully. But here's what I remember we are not allowed to use profanity in our topics. we should not duplicate topics or copy other members topics. We should not list our referral links on any discussion's or members topics. we can only add links if the link pertains to the discussions subject matter. we should not put tags or upload pictures that don't match the subject matter of a topics. Um thats all I can remember.

No (: .. Lol, I used to be on mylot earlier, but left due to lack of time. Joined again because a very good friend practically grabbed my collar and threatened me to catch a plane, come see me to poke me till i am sore if i do not join back because she misses me (danke, DJ .. its good to be back) and because of that I have joined mylot 2 times already. That should mean i have read the guidelines twice right ?? Well, I have not, not even once.
