Ever Gotten So Annoyed With Your Computer That You've Just WHACKED It?

I have a t-shirt around here somewhere with a picture of a little cartoon "ball" with a face, arms and legs. You see the ball's profile, and it has its mouth open. It's walking away from a wrecked computer, and dragging a baseball behind it. The caption above says "THE SYSTEM IS DOWN" and underneath in smaller letters "but I'm feeling better." That's exactly how I feel right now. I'm having some problems with the Canadian Revenue Avency and my GST refund (Gauge and Screw tax, for those who are not Canadian) and they're irritating the crap out of me, but that's for another discussion. Anyway, thinking I'd call the C R A (ad a P on there, and that's exactly how they're treating me), I decided to call up last year's tax refund, but first I had to find it. So I found the damn thing, opened another message with the phone number in it, and looked up some other information I needed. Right when I found everything I needed and had all the windows open, I tried to scroll down to find the phone number and this effing computer FROZE on me, so before turning it off, and rebooting (second time today I've had to do that) I spread my fingers, and whacked the whole keyboard with my palm. It didn't fix the problem, but I sure felt better. Anyone else ever get that annoyed with a computer? I want to hear all about it.

Of course I give my computer a delicate smack at times. I tend to add a little nuance to my thoughts after all everything will eventually be alright. If your computer keeps on annoying you buy ( or not :P) evidence eliminator and remove all kinds of stuff your government could find with investigation tools and your computer will run as smooth as ever again. Smooth speed and no problems with the authorities about your pr0n collection. Just make sure it restarts or shuts off after the scan.

Well, I haven't exactly whacked my computer, but I HAVE broken a nice mouse. Can't remember what I did to it exactly, but I'm sure I banged it on the table at least a couple times. The buttons never worked the same again. :( The mouse still worked, but it was a pain in the butt. That was who knows how long ago and I've just barely (finally) replaced it. I'll have to be more careful and try not to lose my temper. That's going to be a bit difficult because I have a very short temper! LOL Oh, I do hope this poor mouse makes it! I have a question, too... Are you running... Microsnot Winblows? Just a guess...

MMM not so much my own computer - its an "angel" But i deal with other people's problem pcs on a daily basis fixing them. Sometimes they frustrate me so much I threaten to go buy a sledge hammer to use on them. I can't abuse other peoples pcs but i can sit and swear at the pc while i work on it!

People learn how to swear as they learn how to use a computer. LOL I am not patient enough to deal with other people's PCS, mine's annoying enough. And you say that yours is an angel? Where did you manage to find a PC that's an angel? LOL

It's important that my Computer understands who's the Boss, and what happens if it dares rise above its station ;) In all seriousness though, of course I've given my Computer a bash in the past, for a number of different (not all valid) reasons. There's nothing wrong with this, because even the most peaceful of individuals have given their Computers a slight whack at one time or another. ~Mr. Kennedy~

Mine definitely knows who's boss. It now understands that if it gives me too much grief that I'll just wipe it's memory clean and reinstall the operating system and give it a new personality. :-)

I have felt like doing that many times to my computer over the period of years. I hate computer problems, especially if I am not able to fix it myself. I usually have to go out and buy a new one if I cannot get it fixed myself.

Oh yeah !!!! LOL I have been doing that to my laptop quite a few times lately. It's doing exactly the same thing and it's really getting me mad. Worse part is that it's not only us, there are many more having the same problem and no matter how I search I wasn't able to find a solution that makes sense enough to me to try it. I hear about uninstalling zone alarm because that's the culprit. The explanations for it make sense, but so do many other things. I hear about uninstalling avast because it is the culprit. But I don't have avast, so I won't rely on that information. I hear about explorer execute failing. I hear about so many things but none proven. Meanwhile I am left with having to reboot my computer sometimes 2 or 3 times a day because firefox is hanging. Or IE. Personally I blame vista.. but maybe I should because I heard some people with XP complaining about the same. So I'm left with smacking the darn thing until I feel a bit better LOL

I've been getting that annoyed with mine quite frequently lately since it has been freezing up on me several times a day. I have NO idea what is causing it, nor do I have any idea when it will go out. Just all of a sudden it just decides it is tired and won't work for me anymore. I know I need to have it looked at, but I have a trip I am going on , and I want to make sure to have the money I need for it before I spend any of it on anything else. I've threatened to throw mine out the window!!

I used to act like that towards my own pc, that was before I became computer savvy! I would encounter problem after problem after problem and I would become so frustrated. Now I think of my computer as being my best friend, we have a long lasting relationship together! It's very easy to hit the thing though, computers can be really irritating at times! Andrew

nah, I haven't hit or kicked my computer yet, but I did cuss it out a few times and pushed the mess out of my keyboard! But, all I usually do when it freezes it restart it and use another browser! I found that most times it's either internet explorer or firefox slowing around! Right now I'm on flock which works just fine, as well as, opera, that works well too! Taripre$

Yes, we show our indignation over the failure of the computer in many ways. Some bang the computer table in reaction;others just tap their fingers and move the mouse to and fro with a gleeful look on his face. Some shout back in anger and even knock the CPU tower. For me, I just look blankly at the frozen LCD computer ans sigh with disgust especially if I am on a project that I need to complete with a deadline that is pretty soon.Murphy's Law, I will reflect. Why me?

Actually there have been a few times in which I have gotten so annoyed with my older computer that I did give it a whack and you are right it sure didn't help or fix the problem but it sure did make me feel better. It is too bad that it doesn't fix the problem because if it did I wouldn't have had to purchase a new one a few months ago.

He he thats a funny one. I am sure every computer professional would have gone through this ones in their lifetime. Working on computers can be stressful sometimes, especially when you want the results and apparently it just smiles on you lol. But I don't whack the computer. I guess I am more conscious about the consequences, a borken keyboard or monitor. That makes me even more angry as I have to shell out unnecessary money to buy the new ones. So I rather go away from the computer for a little while and have a cup of tea or take a walk and cool myself down.
