With a song in my head......

Was talking with the nice counselor person about being comfortable with who I am and the lyrics from a song from La Cage au Folles popped into my head, "I am what I am, and what I am needs no excuses." And then later we were talking about things that were going on in my life and I started hearing the lyrics from a song from the musical Ragtime, "you can never go back to before."
Apparently my life is a walking song some days. Well there does seem to be a song for almost everything, doesn't there? My kids will say something and that phrase will be lyrics to a song that I'm familiar with and I'll start humming it. My kids say I have a song for pretty much everything you can think of.
Do you go through life constantly having a song in your head? Does music help you get through life? Can you imagine life without it?

I'm not someone who listens to a lot of music, but I do love to sing and consider it to be a HUGE release for me. So from that perspective, it's not a very nice thought to not have music in my life! It can lift us up, pull us down, make us laugh and make us cry..... There'd be a massive hole in my world without it I reckon.
I do sometimes immediately think of songs when I hear certain words spoken and the like, yes! I don't think I'm as advanced as you though by the sounds of it!
There's one in particular I use quite often around my Wife and it's a Tom Jones song. If my Wife was to hiccup for example, then I'd instantly start singing the line "Woh, woh, woh she's a lady"

You know, we must have been separated at birth. I have songs running through constantly. We used to think of songs with our names in them as well.I wake up with music on my mind all of the time.

i do have some moment when a song will be playing inside your mind and that i will be humming a song whatever song i was thinking. but it does not happen always. it is just kind of seldom now cause i don't listen to music that much and i don't remember good songs that often. but there will be times i will inside a mall will hear a song playing in the background or like inside the bus or any place where i will hear some songs while i pass by and when i get back home when i like the songs i heard that i will be humming it. sometimes there will be a good song from a commercial i have watched and loved the song as it suits well the commercial or the commercial have a good message that gives a song a very good interpretation that the song will kinda stay with me for some days till i get tired singing it.

i have a friend who once said that the only thing that was missing from life was background music. that is oh so true. that is why i have an electronic IV int he form of my ipod, zeepod. so there is literally music playing all the time with me. lately it has been pantera's music, namely 5 minutes alone and i'm broken. i also love this one lyric from machinehead from a song called davidian 'let freedom ring with a shotgun blast'

Life without music? Impossible!
I have instrumental music playing all the time I'm working. It is mostly just piano but I have several others as well. Instrumental music keeps me working happily without disturbing my thought patterns, even though I know the lyrics and a little bit of me goes with it at times.
When it comes to singing, I much prefer the older ones, where the SINGER and the WORDS were heard, not the instruments. They played their little trilly bits in between the words (as in Nat King Cole) In most of today's music it seems the instruments are there to drown out the vocals.
Yes, I do often think of words of songs during conversations, and I usually wake up with a song in my head and go to bed with a song in my head. Life without music? Never!
Dawn, I've said it before: you know every song ever written - except the one about cherry stones around my plate and I still can't get that one out of my head, although I only remember the one line.

we go to church on sundays and i find that i usually end up with one of the songs that the worship team does stuck in my head at least until the first part of the week. also, this may happen to me with any song on the radio or one that my daughters come home singing or even one that my co-worker plays on her computer! its a curse, i tell ya!
