Here it is, September already! Ready for winter knitting! I'm searching around for a good sweater pattern for myself. Maybe a long sweater cardigan. But FIRST I must finish a bunch of cotton dish cloths for Christmas gifts! People just love those things! Has anybody seen any nice patterns? I can handle most anything, but I've yet to tackle intarsia (sp?)

I've been thinking the same thing, time to start knitting again! I made a pair of houseshoes already and have a few things lined up. I, too, want to knit myself a sweater. I need more hand towels for the kitchen and the cotton yarn for dish cloths makes a great hand towel, so I'll do some of those, then I have a small footstool that needs recovering so I'll knit a top for that. I'm sure more "needs" and ideas will come along. I never seem to run out of them.

If you're like me, you welcome those projects to help use up your yarn stash. (So you can go buy more, of course.) :)

My neighbor girl (high schooler) just today informed me that she would be needing another hat, very colorful with ear flaps. lol. I guess I won't run out of things either.

I'm in the middle of a teddy bear right now, but I've started pulling out my sock yarn. I have a feeling this year it's going to be socks. Last winter I made several wool berets. I haven't made socks in a while, so I think that's what I'll be doing this winter.

I've never made a teddy bear, but if/when I ever have grand children I'll try some. I love socks, though! I've made several pairs. Maybe I will make a matching pair for my sweater.

Ooo, I like the idea of matching the socks to the sweater. I just finished making a lamb for my friend's granddaughter. That was the first stuffed animal I'd ever knit and it turned out pretty well. The granddaughter hugged and kissed it when she got it for her birthday, so I guess that's good enough lol

Lion Brand (http://www.lionbrand.com) offers hundreds of patterns, and now they're all FREE! A search brought up two for cotton dishcloths. I'll be starting a few knitting projects for Christmas also: ponchos for my two youngest granddaughters, wristers and leggings for the older ones.

Thanks! I hadn't been to the lion brand site in awhile and I didn't realize they were all free now. They have really changed things around over there. My family likes only one dishcloth pattern, same one my Grandmother always knitted up for us. (Probably the same one EVERY one's grandmother knitted! lol). But I do use the dish cloths to try out/practice new stitches and patterns. It's quick and functional, too.
