Who Has Seen "Nights in Rodanthe"? (Spoiler Alert!)

I just watched this movie last night and I really LOVED it, except... I put "spoiler alert" in the title, but I'm not going to give anything away in this part of my discussion. Anyway, I've always really loved both Richard Gere and Diane Lane and I loved them together in "Unfaithful"...although I STILL can't imagine anyone cheating on HIM...lol! I think "Nights in Rodanthe" was beautifully made from beginning to end - beautiful scenery, an effective score, everything about it was top-rate, in my opinion. The performances were awesome, even better than what I've come to expect from the stars. I think Mae Whitman as Amanda has quite a future ahead of her. This is definitely a first-rate chick-flick but I'd like to think some guys would like it too, or maybe not...lol! Who else has seen this touching movie and what did you think? Annie

As a guy I absolutely loved it and it was the first adaptation to movie of a Nicolas Sparks novel that I watched. It is such a great story with a really good emotional twist which helps raise it above so many other romantic dramas. Plus it features Diane Lane which was to be honest the main reason why I watched it in the first place. And of course the hotel/house on the beach is just an amazing setting, quirky and beautiful.

The setting was beautiful, wasn't it? I really like Diane Lane a lot too. She's one of my favorite actresses and I'm glad she's been getting some great roles the past few years. Annie

I like the ending, but really this movie bores me..It cannot be compared to the same level as Unfaithful where we see the great acting of Diane Lane. Nights in Rodanthe use too many cliches in a romantic movie which look a little bit dated to be honest and this one is forgettable..

It's certainly not the same type of movie as "Unfaithful" but I guess I like an old fashioned romance now and then, cliches or not. Annie

I have not seen it yet but after reading your endorsement I have ordered it on Netflix. I must admit that have I drooled over Richard Gere for years. I am not one for watching movies more that once but I can't count the number of times I have watched Pretty Woman.

Me too and me too...lol! How about "An Officer and a Gentleman"? That's one of my all-time favorite movies. "Yanks" is another good one, set during World War II. Annie

I saw it a few weeks ago. I liked the movie, but then again I love Richard Gere. I read the book that the movie was based on a few years ago when it first came out, so I knew the basic plot of the movie before I watched it. I did not really care for the ending either.

I love Richard Gere, too, even in his movies that haven't been that great. He's certainly aged well, hasn't he? I'd like to read the booknow, too. Annie

I did see it and it was a wonderful movie, but I dare say I did not care for the ending.
