I lost a friend that was really important to me she was also part of the family she was with us for more than 2 years. She was a Chihuahua and her name is or was Chiquis she always stayed inside the house and she had her bed in my daughters room. We all loved her she loved to play with everyone but especially my one year old and my 11 year old. She used to take care of my baby because if I was outside and the baby cried she would go out and bark at me. She always made us smile with her dancing and jumping. We went to Mexico three weeks ago and I did not let her go out in the street because I was scared that she would get lost or stolen so she had time to be in the yard but for 5 or 10 minutes 3 to 5 times in a day. But one day we did not noticed that the gate was a little opened so she went out and never came back. I went out to look for her calling her name around the block and even three blokes around the house but nothing. Now my little girl wants me to get her another dog because she feels alone since Chiquis was always around her and the baby. But I am not so sure that I want to get another pet since it has been barely 2 weeks since I lost Chiquis or maybe it would help us to have another pet. We do have two more dogs but they are big and they stay outside we also care for them but it is not the same. What do you think should we get another small pet now? or should we take more time?

I think you should wait for her to come home. Since your family had such a deep connection with her, she probably would want to return home. I've heard of a dog whose been lost for 11 years and one day, just went back to his master. You can wait for her to come back or post some signs around the neighborhood to inform people to look out for a lost dog. I hope you find her

Yes you might be right but the bad thing about her coming back to us is that she got lost in Mexico and we live in the US. I did want to post some pictures around but it was not going to make any difference since people don’t care about that and I was also told that I was not going to get it back since there are some people that look for nice dogs to sell. I just hope that she is ok and with a good family but it would be better if someone that I know might see her so I can go and get her .

Sorry to hear Desteny, I hope Chiquis ends up in a good home wherever she ends up. As far as getting a new dog, If that's what your kids want then get them one, If they're not so keen then leave it for a while.
