Mark Best Response VS Rate This Discussion Positive

I am still not very clear what is the different between Mark as Best Response with Rate as positive discussion. I think both of them are calculated into mylot reputation, so what's the different?
What is the consideration for you to give someone's post as Best Response and in which condition, you give the person as positive discussion?

There are many differences between BR & +ve rating. BR can be given only once in a discussion, but rating can be given to many of them. Also there can be many good responses for whom we can give +ve rating, but you have to choose one from that to give BR. We can know who has given us a BR but we cannot know who has given a rating.
Also the earnings ,method can also very. If we get a BR, we will be paid only once for it, but getting a higher reputation can contribute to earnings in each & every posts & responses we make.

The Rating contributes towards your reputation & not BR. Now, your reputation is calculated based on DRS(Discussion Rating system)& The goal of the DRS is to help keep the quality of myLot discussions as high as possible for all members.
In DRS, Rating is mainly calculated to determine the reputation. So only if you rate a person positive, the reputation increases.

Hi taztheone, that is a lot of information. I didnt know this. :) Now, I will keep giving the ratings as well and even review my old discussions. :) Just one small doubt, if v read thru another person's discussion, and we find it presented very well, and we want to give a rating can v do that? I mean - it could be somebody else's discussion u know. Is that allowed?

Only a user who starts a discussion can then choose and award the Best Response. Others who respond on a discussion do not get this option.
We can all rate any discussion positive and I usually do so if I respond (and often when I don't).

Mysdianait Nice to Find you Here, There and Everywhere .. I Wanted to Put On my Individual Thread For my Response, But As I Wanted to Put the Same Words Across, I Thought it would Get Easier to Second Your Comments .. I Am With Mysdianait On this One For sure ..
