I got asked this the other day by a friend who I was trying to cheer up. Her boyfriend had just broken up with her so I was listening to her moaning about him, giving her lots of hugs and told her she's better off without him. Then she just turned to me and said "Are you really happy with your life?" And I said yes, I know my life isn't perfect but I am actually quite happy. I have a lovely finacee who I'm marrying next year, I have a job that I love and get paid well to do and everyone I love is healthy. So what I'm asking is....are you really happy?

I always try to find happiness in whatever I am doing so that my life will be happier. I believe that if you think something is not bad, it will be bad no matter how good it is & if you think that something is good, it will be good no matter how bad it is. So I try m y best to create happiness from almost everything & to enjoy everything I do. If you have a positive attitude towards life, you will definitely succeed in life. Happy Lotting

I totaly agree with taztheone, it's not lying to yourself, it's basically trying to find the good in everything. Like looking at a glass with water in it, you could say it's half full or half empty. If you always think of bad things, then life is going to be bad but if you are always trying to find the good in things, life can be good. Thanks for your comment Taztheone xx

No Vandana, No.... who taught you the word bad!!!!!! who taught you the meaning of unhappy?? what If you are a person who don't know the meaning of bad? Trust me Vandana, your life is in your hands.. even if there's a major problem in life, learn to be happy, if you are happy with your life & if you find happiness in what you do , your life will be so successful compared to your present life & you can easily find solutions to your problems. Never think that some thing is bad. Now if today, you lost Rs 1000. will you consider it good or bad. Well I won't consider it bad because life has taught me the lesson as how to be careful & since there is no free lunch in the world, you paid Rs 1000 as a fees to learn this lesson So rather than being sad, try to think that way & think of a better tomorrow. Weel this is what I think & I was never sad unless its too critical. All the best

Hi taztheone, that would be lying to self! I wouldnt do that. I am much too honest to be able tell myself like that. :( Well, as I c it - what is the percentage of my life that is bad, and the moment I look at it I realize that I am letting the bad creep in on my good moments like some oil sleek. And so I immediately come to my senses, no way, I will let it remain to the extent it is, and not magnify it. :)

It took a long time for me. Many years of "fake it till you make it". My mom used to say to me, "put a smile on your face and fake it till you make it". And, that is what I did for a long time. Well, I guess I made it because now, I really am happy! I love my husband, we have two amazing boys. I love my job! I have a great support system. My friends are amazing. My in-laws are awesome. I would say yes, I am truely happy with my life! Thanks for making me think about that for a minute! Sometimes it is nice to just say "I AM HAPPY"!!!!

I think happiness is a frame of mind! You can either look at your life and see all the good, or you can look at your life and see all the bad. It is a lot to do with perception. When I was young, I thought it was easier to say life was unhappy because of the issues and challenges I was facing. Now, I look at my challenges as minor, no matter how big. I can't imagine ever feeling the way i did as a child again. I honestly think I felt so terrible because I allowed myself to. Now, I take what comes and make the best of it!

no, I don't think so. I've been finding myself thinking, 'I'm not happy' more and more recently. can't put my finger on the specific reason as to why am I unhappy with life, but I can't say that I am happy.

I am happy. Before, i was a discontented person and always seeks for happiness. But now that i understand what happiness is, its easy for me to be happy. Before, i thought material things could make me happy but that's totally wrong. Material things can just make me happy temporarily then it fades. Happiness is in our heart. You don't need to seek for it. You just open your eyes and heart and do the right thing can make you happy. Helping others is also one. Being closer to God is way to happiness.

Very true, material objects will make you happy for a little while but then they don't hold the same power they once did after a little while. Happiness comes from within

No not totally, marital problems and I think I could use a career change. And yet I manage to squeeze in lots of happy moments with my kids and friends and so on.

Well, it depends on HOW you look at your life. If you look it financially ONLY, then whenever you have money you'll be happy EVEN if you don't have any partner or just left by your partner (for example). But if you look it SOCIAL LIFE only, then whenever you have someone to share (even tears or laugh) you'll be very happy even if you know that you don't even have money for tomorrow's shop.

Hey, Well I don't have that much money, don't have a wife yet, don't look my best. But I am still relatively happy, as long as I have food on the table, a bed to sleep in and a roof to cover my head, that should be enough for now. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

Oh yeah absolutely. I am not super rich or anything and I definitely cannot afford all the luxury in the life but still I am enormously happy. As you said, health is wealth. If you have good health, that is all you need to be happy. Money can be earned in one or the other way to keep you going but having good health is the most important thing in life. I am also happy because I am not in any kind of debt (touchwood) and not in any kind of unavoidable stress. i don't want to be super rich and take all the hassles and lose peace of mind.

I do have a lot of things in my life that I have yet to figure out and work out, and I do have my low points, but honestly I am the happiest I have been since childhood. I'm reunited with my best friend, who might as well be my twin sister, I am no longer living in a state that has made me miserable for my entire life, and I am starting to do creative things that I have always wanted to do.

I wasnt happy for about 2 years. But last week going back to school and joining the paper I was as happy as I've been in a long time. Right now I'm a little stressed about my student aid but once its over my goal is to be a happier healthier person. I think helping others makes me feel better too.

Yes, to a certain extent, I can say that word. But I know that things could really have been better. I wish to have a more harmonious family. I long to find love from friends and relatives. I wish for money happiness. I wish for material happiness. I wish for happiness of my soul. I am not greedy. I just want to be happy as what 'happy' should be-devoid of needs and wants!

"Do you feel bummed when you in a trouble?""No,because I'm happy"well maybe i should say I'm easy when i face such a trouble, and chill out could basically makes you happy. do you know the secret?I'm good at being attracted by the things around me,and I always follow my heart to do the thing i wanted,I found a lot of amazing things didn't belong to me,but I could touch them, feel them, sometimes they would give their love to me,and all i thought i was luck.so when i get in a trouble,I'm still be strong to face it,even though it done so bad to me,I still could find the way to "home",the thing doesn't belong to me,but I belong to there,I won't let the trouble to take me down, because there is a strong faith that someone love me to make me feel easy,happy...I'm really happy!

Yes I am. With the life I have right now, I could not ask for more. It's not perfect but I am contented. Being happy means I accepted all the things I have received with no regrets and hesitations.
