A chinese woman has broken the world record for buying a Tibetan Mastiff dog for a record breaking $ 582,135 far surpassing the previous highest which was $ 155,000 by a Florida family. How much would you spend for a dog?Is the dog worth that much?Is she just crazy? your thoughts.....

the phrase more money than sense does spring to mind. if i got a dog it would come from an animal sanctuary so the most i'd pay is whatever the donation the sanctuary requests. which is very rarely 582 thousand dollars...

Exactly. Well, my pets are adopted and I think it's better to donate that amount if she can afford to just throw it away like that.

I would rather use that money to feed and care for homeless/sheltered animals.

No, I would not pay that much for a dog. Not when there are perfectly wonderful dogs at the animal shelter that are just as deserving of love, a family and a home as the one costing such a rediculous amount of money.

For that amount of money, I might consider letting her adopt me. As long as there's a diamond collar to go with the leash (if there is one). And, of course, the best food prepared by a world-class chef....I could get used to that lifestyle...

She doesn't know what to do with her money, that's why she spend it on dogs. Or, she would rather see a dog who is faithful and pay them a fortune rather than to give it to her heirs who are selfish or greedy. Ok another scenario, maybe she is really in love with those dogs and she can't afford to lose them or live without them and she is so desperate to spend that bigggg amount on dogs wooohh sounds so weird right? What else the dog has a gold teeth or a diamond inside that once it poo, she can get it now, ohh myyy in short, she's crazy or am I now thinking silly too, lolz.

Haha,,what I can say is the woman is so rich that they prefer to spend her little money on the dog, surely it is not worthy for the ordinary people, and most of the people can not afford it. But I can understand that kind of women, maybe they treat the Tibetan Mastiff as her son, using that bucks to buy a son is supposed to be more easier to understand. I heard another story that a rich oldlade left her millions to nobody, but a cat after she left the world, therefore the cat becomes a millionare over night, LOL...

What a poor cat.. All mafia in the world will hunting this cat down. The cat's life is never the same as before, he/she will leave in fear that someone or the human will steal his/her million dollars

I love dogs and all, but I'm the "free to good home" type of dog-lover! But I guess if I had the kind of money to waste on a dog, I might do it...

I'd never spend that much money for a dog, obviously. I'd also like to now how rare or what's special about this dog or it's kind that make it worth it all that money. If a logic answer could be given to this question then I wouldn't say that the woman is crazy at all...I too would spend most of my money in case there was something rare that I wanted just really badly.

A dog trained for shows, I could see being expensive. I don't know that much about Mastiff's, but I think they are show dog material. I guess those who buy dogs for that much must be planning to put them in the show dog business. I'm guessing it is a very rewarding business.

...but still its just crazy to spend that much on a dog isn't it?

tibetan mastiffs are beautiful dogs. they protected the monks centuries ago. i know an attorney -- and as we all know they make too much money -- who has a tibetan mastiff and he would never pay that for a dog. he tells me the dog is dumb. absolutely beautiful dogs. either she got scammed or maybe she is crazy! to some people, money isn't important as long as they get what they want at the moment.

I would NEVER pay half a million dollars for a dog! I love dogs, but I think that sometimes the prices that are charged are crazy! We have 3 dogs and we adopted them all. I think the most we paid was $60 from the pound to cover all of his shots and being fixed. I don't see what could make this other dog so much better than the ones that we have. The lady probably hadn't even met this dog. What if it has a poor disposition? Maybe I just don't have a ton of money to blow on a pet. Maybe if I made $100 million or something I would feel differently.

A dog for such a huge price would actually be done for just a fame I guess, any dog which is sincere as a dog, healthy and with good guarding skills is always a point to be made in any kind of a dog,a dog's appearance as its beauty is also observed by some. I am not at all supporting the thousands of $'s spent on a animal, because its a creation of life not a masterpiece or showpiece.I being a dog lover would prefer a dog of a good breed that is well suited to my kind of a place environment.I have a Labrador.

I'd rather just find one off the street for free. Unless you're rich, animals are a heavy expense with medical needs and so on.. so I would never pay a dime to actually get a dog. I'd adopt or something.

hi krupesh. as promised, i came here to give my response. and as i mentioned in my comment to your reaction to my discussion, this is a work of a crazy people. it is a very huge amount of money to spend in just a thing like dog. i am not sure what this woman is after to buy the dog for $582,135 and that's really so much. i said it again, there are so many people suffering from hunger and others needs immediate medical attention. i could be more relieving, at least for me, to help others than personal happiness. neil

When people r purchasing pets cost to them in some or most cases r different relating to the people involved. In purbreed dogs , line line of the dog is very important for training, breeding, show and behavior etc.. When people r looking at a price they r looking for allot of things. I can afford a certain price for a good dog, where as a person that makes 10x or more than me my price is low to them. I train dogs, set a price for the sale of that dog for protection some think it is to high some think it is low depending how much they can spend or want to spend, the quality of the breeed and all other things that r taken. I do think that this price is high , but, for what they purchased they think the price is right.. REMEMBER ALWAYS LUV/CARE FOR YOUR DOG/ PET, THEY WILL ALWAYS LUV U..

I'd say she is crazy. There are plenty of perfectly good dogs in need of homes in shelters all over the place.
