I know that some people sit in front of the computer for quite long hours, some just eat in front of the computer and turn it off when they're about to sleep. Ever experienced your eyes getting sore and blurry as you sit in front of the computer long enough? that's what I'm feeling right now. And what I hate most about using the computer that it makes my eyes drowsy! demmit. Any suggestions? I know you're not supposed to wash your face and those who don't know never ever do that after or when you've been using the computer. Anyway back to my question. I f anyone knows how to make the eyes less sore please let me know. :)

Well I can relate to you. I also don't know how to lessen it. Right now I'm also in front of the computer, mylotting while eating. =) I always experience getting my eyes blurry because of the long hours in front of the computer. Most of the time I feel sleepy. Just last night I never noticed that I already take a nap while mylotting. I woke up at around 1am because my head feels so hot. I found out that I haven't turn off the laptop and I slept on it that's why my head feels so hot. Good thing I didn't burn my hair. LOL

lol :)) I feel that my eyes are soo dry it begins to sore right now. And yeah I do eat in front of the computer too although my mom gets angry haha! Often times when I;ve been experiencing the blurry eyes and all I always get tempted to wash my face! And often I wash my face because of being tempted. lol. what a bummer. I think this is why bumps in my eyes begin to grow. It's really not a good sight.

Too bad. =) Try to put some eye drops. Maybe it will help lessen the dryness. We are both eating in front of the computer. I wonder how will we look like days from now if we continue doing this. lol =)

You could knead some poits around your eyes. After sitting a long time before computer, you should go out for a walk and see some green things like trees. That may make you feel fine.Just try to do it!

what are poits? My mom says green is a color soothing to the eyes, so I have to agree with you on that one! Good suggestion! Although I often use the computer at night time.

hi resssaaa again I share that with you.right now my eyes feel'itdchy and tired, Ithink part of that is allergy to dust and dust mites,'but too I think the monitor after awhile does make our eyes tire, maybe'from the constant looking at a more or less glary screen.my eyes are also feeling blurry because I think my monitor and my chair are not correctly aligned, making eye strain a constant given. Also for me I do need tohave new glasses as my eyes have changed over the past three or four years. Someone has suggested that you take time out every few hours so as to rest your eyes, and look off into other parts of the room, then come back to the computer again.

Yes I have to agree when my eyes get blurry so much I tend to rest for a while and look at other parts of the room. This helps my vision go back to the normal way. My eyesight is also changing now and it's not the normal 20/20 vision. I wear contacts, and believe me you must be really conscious about them. YOu cannot sleep with them on cause your eyes will become irritated. You can't leave them for a long time on too cause it will get sore plus your heads going to hurt BIGTIME.

Not only does this happen to me but I also get back pains because the chair I use is a little higher than the table with my laptop. If you are so interested in using the machine as we both seem to be try leaving it for periods of time. So, that way, you can rest your eyes and I can rest my back. That's what I do.

You said exactly what I;ve been feeling. I have back aches too and right now I have back aches already. I try leaving the pc once in a while to rest my eyes and back but sometimes I end up sleepin cause I feel drowsy once I've been in front of the computer/

I'm on a computer almost all day & I even sleep near it NEVER turning it off except to clear the memory. When my eyes get sore (dry & scratchy) I use Artificial Tears & it soothes my eyes. Our eyes dry out from staring into the light of the monitor. I usually only use the eye drops once a day. That seems to help all day long!!! I don't buy the expensive name brand product opting to buy the cheaper generic form. You might want to try it. If it doesn't work, you won't have to continue using it. The generic version only costs about $3.00 so it's not that expensive.

Okay :) So that's why our eyes get dry all the time. It looks like it has been dehydrated and all! lol. I wear contacts too, so it adds up to soreness. what a bummer.

I can't stay that long in front of the pc. Not only does it hurt my eyes but I feel tired when I'm in front of it for a long time. I think the most that I can take is 2 hours. More than that is already tortre for me. I read somewhere that you should relax every hour. Rest your eyes by looking somewhere far away from the pc's monitor. Stand up and do some stretching. It may also help if you close your eyes for a few minutes. Hope that will ease up the tension a bit.

When I close my eyes for a few minutes, I tend to fall asleep. That's the problem with me. And what I hate most is when you are so sleepy or began to fall asleep then you have to wake up and get up forcibly because you have something to do. I think It would be torture for me too but since I am a computer science student right now I am obligated to do works and tasks involving the computer so I have no choice. And since, i get addicted to surfing the net and everything that includes it as well as computer games, I can't help but stay in front of the computer for a long time. And when I finally think I've had enough, I have major headaches and all.

Hey Resssaaa, you better take good care of those lovely eyes. We know it's so hard to walk away from our PC but if we do so take the necessary precautions. Make sure its properly lit, lamp at the back of our eyes, don't ever let the monitor as the only light source and gaze away from it from time to time and look for cool colored picture or something. I never thought it could happen to me and I took it for granted now I'm wearing spectacles. Its so hard to have a set of failing eyes.

Actually my eyes are begin to failing already but not that high in vision. I only have 50/50 vision and it's bearable although sometimes I have to admit it is hard to see when you are far away from the white board lol. I wear contacts, since I don't like wearing glasses but contacts could irritate your eyes if you don't use it properly though.

this sound s like the computer syndrome. it is a new eye disease that comes when you use computers for longer period for longer period of time. the experts recommend using a glass when in front of the computer.

Hi Resssaaa, I tend to have to take some time away from the computer, or whatever else I am doing to try and combat that. I get dry eyes just randomly through the days at times, and so I screw them closed to try and encourage them to moisturise themselves since I don't put anything on them (though the artificial tears suggestion sounds good). Normally boredom takes me away from the computer before my eyes do these days, but in the past I used to live there. I think I was laughing too much to get dry eyes though, tears of joy worked wonders lol! Good luck combating this, Dranz

how on earth would you encourage them to moisturize themselves? lol. Yes, I think the artificial tears sounds good. Is that the same as eyedrops? I hope I would not get sore eyes anymore. It makes my eyes hurt, including the veins beside it that connect to my head. That's the reason I get headaches too!

There si two way: first is to buy a liquidy eye protecting medicine and give some drops into your eye every other hour .The other one is to see the docotor and follow the doctor's advice, hope that helps.

Thanks for your suggestion. I've been to the eye doctor and my vision is well kinda getting blurry. I tend to face the computer so closely like when I watch TV. It's like it has been a habit for me.

Well, you can use clear glasses so that radiation cannot go directly to your eyes.

I've lost my glasses unfortunately. I only wear contact lenses. And I don't think I would last an hour or even 30 mins with contact lenses on at front of the computer. It just irritates my eyes, they would go sore and red.
