Bringing out the blue/green/brown

This is a silly girl thing. How many of the guys will dare tread here. lol Yesterday I was grocery shopping and I just happened to be in the makeup section. And the words "bring out the blue" caught my eye. So I took a look and Almay has this section with eye makeup intended to make your blue eyes look bluer, your green eyes look greener, etc. Well my eyes are hazel. They aren't gray. They aren't green. They're somewhere in between. No fair. Everybody else in the house has blue eyes. Anyway, I zoned in on the one that's for bringing out the green, picked up some mascara, eye liner and eye shadow. My girls were laughing at me for being silly. But I tried it today. Danged if my eyes don't look greener. Or maybe it's just an experiment in the power of suggestion? How many of you play with makeup like this to bring out a certain color in your eyes? Or make your cheekbones stand out more? Or make your lips look larger or whatever? Or do you just slap it on?

It all depends for me really. If I'm just looking to trawl the streets looking for sailors, then I don't really care that much about detail and I'll just slap the make up on willy nilly. They don't give a damn, so why should I? But if we're talking a full on event and I wish to look my best for an aristocratic chap for example, then I'll go the whole nine yards and be very methodical and precise with it all. Do you have any tips on how to hide a front bulge, facisal hair and an adams apples by the way?

Both my parents had brown eyes. My four siblings have brown eyes. I have blue eyes. Genetically this is possible, providing both parents had one parent with blue eyes, and none of us knew either set of grandparents. Since one brother and one sister and I are just about identical in looks, hair colour (redheads) and nature - but not eye colour - I guess I shouldn't wonder.

My parents both had brown eyes, so how did I end up with hazel?

I never really paid attention to what it did to the color of my eyes, but it really does do something!

If you come over here I'll let you take me to the makeup dept and slap all that you want Dawn. No turtlenecks though! I have hazel eyes too. I hope that Hazel doesn't mind. I once got made up by a GF for a party - I wore a velvet brown dress too. But that's another story!

I love make up but do not wear much these days. My glasses have transitional lenses so as they go dark in the sun I have given up all eye make up. I wear a translucent powder to take away th shine and lipstick, I like blusher but have lost it. (?) I also like this idea from Almay so please send me the correct make up for brown eyes :)

I'll have to go back and look. Since I don't have brown eyes, I didn't even glance at it. Funny, both my parents had brown eyes and only one of us does. Problem with those transitional lenses is that they eventually darken and don't change any more. So now I get a separate set of sunglasses (ouch)...

I did not know this. I spent $38,000.00 on these glasses and now my week has effectively been ruined.!

I play with make up like that too. Sometimes when I feel like having very plumed lips, I put on very shiny lip gloss and scatter it a little outside of my lips. That will give my lips a more fuller look. For my eyes, I have a large but somehow pointy eyes and I want them to look more twinkly so I spend time curling my lashes till I'm satisfied. I also use a highlighter for my cheeks to emphasize the apples of my cheeks. those are just the basic ones I knew because I really dont know much about makeup and I often get tired of applying complicated ones and I end up giving up in the middle of doing them. SO i just stick with the simple ones which also gives great results.

I used to, but now I do not take the time. I have seen the Almay display, and I thought it had a hazel section as well. I do know that when I was younger my bright orange flannel night gown gramma bought me made my eyes look very very green. I would love to buy some new makeup, but I actually have plenty. I do not need larger lips.

I am a blue-eyed redhead. Well, I still think of myself as a redhead. It used to be flaming auburn, but now I am told it is more like honey blonde, but it still looks red to me. Anyway, as a redhead, my eyebrows and eye lashes are almost invisible. I do pencil my eyebrows but I can't stand any eye makeup - on myself that is. I can admire it on others, provided it isn't too heavy. I cheat on my lips. I have a very small mouth, and as I've aged my lower lip has receded somewhat. I pencil a larger lower lip with lip-liner and then use lip paint and the cover gloss. It looks natural and makes a huge difference.

I like to try different things....and some have failed miserably! LOL....but I do like trying different kinds of shadow....and mascara....I think it's fun...and if it doesn't turn out well not a big deal. The only thing I have never really liked it the look I got from a Mary Kay party....it was just too much....

Hi, Dawnald! Those things really do make my green eyes greener! I was surprised to discover that! They do have a set for hazel eyes, if you prefer that.

Do they make hazel eyes hazeler? Seriously I wonder what effect they're trying to get. I like bringing the green out myself, but I might try it sometime.

blue eye color is also great and also green but it depends to the color of your eyes. like if you have blue eyes then better not use it same as those who have green eyes with green eye color. theres nothing wrong to experiment colors in your eyes as long as it looks great and good than use only the same color the whole life.

I would probably not experiment on my eyes. I have a black color eyes so nothing very unusual and have nothing to do to bring out its color. Well, I thought Hazel eyes will have a reflection of the color of the shirt you are wearing, that's what I have heard. If I have those kind of eyes I would wear bright color shirt to match up my eyes, and not wear fancy make up.

I wonder with hazel eyes, if each of these different sets wouldn't bring out different colors. Hmmm...

My eyes change depending on the amount of sunlight from honey hazel to green. I dont wear a lot of make up day to day but in high school I was in a lot of productions so I had to learn a lot about make up. Now whenever I have formal events and stuff like that I know exactly what to do with my eyes. Greens alaways look the best with my eyes also bronze or light browns. I for the life of me ca not wear blue eye liner no matter how I try it, how I do it I always end up looking cheap. But I dont mind. It's fun to play with make up. Bronzer makes me cheeks pop. My lips are and will always be very small I cant help it but a little gloss on the outside of the lips always make them look better.
