The Buck Stops...Where??

Okay, end of Summer crazies have struck. Lately I began to remember that old plaque on a 20th century president's desk (I'm sure some non-geezer will have enough memory to remind me of which man it was) that read: "THE BUCK STOPS HERE." It was a symbol of the rock hard toughness a president (or any good leader) must have to make tough decisions. And I thought we could have some fun with that. Today, with all the lax & degenerate "leaders" we've had in the Oval Office, I'm sure that sage plaque has long since been tossed into the waste bin. So now I've been wondering what more appropriate saying one might find on the current president's desk (or you could pick a former one & provide something appropriate, OR...even pick someone who lost, & put something suitable for him or her on the plaque). So...y'all come up with something you think the plaque would say, & if at least 5 folks contribute, you'll get a "best mark" notation if I like your idea. No limit on entries. (It's the least I can do) (& the most, too! ) Remember to keep it free of words MyBot doesn't allow--yeeees, even the cleverly "tinkered-with" versions, & try to be funny if you can. We're only doing this for laughs, after all. I'll start you off with my sample: "ALL THE BUCKS STOP HERE...before they go to ACORN." Maggiepie "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?"

Mags, what is a 'non-geezer'? Is it something to do with the man who does boiler repairs? I just can't get past that bit of your topic. Hope you won't mind explaining.

"Geezer" is slang for old. Usually said of curmudgeons. Ergo, a non-geezer is young, or at most, middle aged (between 40 & 60, or thereabout). So far, it's common for people to retire at 65, at which age, they may legally draw money from the retirement fund into which all legal workers in the U.S. pay--"Social Security." That the greedy government has been pilfering that fund for several generations is the main reason we geezers become curmudgeons. Especially since the money's nearly gone, & unfortunately, a lot of folks were relying on that money to last them for the rest of retirement! Yet the government is now trying to use even more of this rapidly-vanishing money to give it to people who never put a penny into it--illegal aliens! Grrr! Oops, not mad at you. Don't mind me. I'm just feeling my Geezerhood! Maggiepie STALKERS WILL BE EATEN ^..^

Oh, feel free! I don't own the word! I'm pretty sure it used to apply only to males, but now-a-days, what with all the gender-bending going on, well... Anyway, I'd love to see what you do with it! And if you want some words I really do "own" (but love to share), see my discussion on making up words! It can't be buried too deeply in my "discussions I've started" in my profile, since I only posted it a few days ago. Enjoy! And give me a heads up when you're ready to post your geezer thingy. Maggiepie STALKERS WILL BE EATEN BY AN ATTACK CAT!___^..^

Ah, another of those language variations between English and American. When I thought about it is definitely an old boiler in England. So basically it's slang for a pensioner. I really did think though that it was male, but you make it sound as if it can be used for either. I have to ask, as it's inspired a discussion, can I steal your word geezer for a bit of a fripperish one or would you prefer me to leave it for you. I usually take inspiration from answers but would never dream of poaching even if you may not yourself have thought of turning the word 'geezer' into a riveting discussion. What do you think as I'm most in the mood for frippery?

I think for the last 40 years the Plaque has read: "PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY".

The plaque still says, "The Buck Stops Here", but it points to Obama's wallet. ;~D
